MNSSHP ? About MK hrs...

Shouldn't the park ticket I already paid for include a parade and character interaction?

I was really trying to understand why people are just fine with the large up charge just to get what they have already paid for (park admission for a full day, parade, and characters).

I'm not sure you understand what MNSSHP is, and I don't think it can be compared to Halloween events at other places.

Characters are in costume, and there are rarer characters out. Special photopass photo ops, special parade complete with the ride of the Headless Horseman (yes, it is the best Disney offers as mesaboy said), Hallowishes, trick-or-treating, villian show/mix and mingle, and two dance parties - none of which is available during normal operating hours/with a regular park ticket.

On top of that, the Halloween atmosphere that is totally immersive throughout the park.

As you have seen, MNSSHP has many fans and it for good reason.

Hopefully it will be wonderful and turn out to be the best thing about my visit. I'll just buy the extra tickets and look forward to my first official WDW visit. Thanks for the explanations everyone!

I should know the answer to this since we went to Disney in October of 2011, but I can't remember....

We are doing MNSSHP one day of our trip, but on another night, I plan on making reservations at BOG (fingers crossed!). The best day for me to make reservations for BOG is on Nov 1st. Its towards the end of our trip, so I'm figuring that since it will be 180+10 I'll have a better chance of actually getting the reservation, than if I tried to make it at the beginning of our trip.

Now... The official calendar isn't out yet, however, there will most likely be a party on that night (Nov 1st) because there has been in years past. If I can only get reservations for 8pm or something later in the evening, and I do not have a party ticket, will they allow me to keep the reservation, or will it be a problem?

I guess my main question is..... Would it be best to get to MK early (before 7pm) and just wait around the castle, or should we arrive closer to our actual reservation, and show them our reservation number at the gate. Will that work? I'm not trying to get any "free party time" especially since we will have already been to the party earlier in the week, I just want to make sure we don't miss our BOG reservations!! :)

You will only be allowed to make an ADR prior to (not at) 7pm unless you have a party ticket.

I you do not have a party ticket you will not be able to have a reservation during party hours.

What they said.

That really stinks. I only have a few days that I can do reservations there, and it seems like they are all during a party! I guess I could try for Oct 26th if I can't get something before 7pm on the 1st.
Going in October during F&W and MNSSHP is my favorite time to go to Disney, but I guess it does have a bit of a down side.

Last year there was no party on 11/1, but on 11/2. So it is not a foregone conclusion that you have an issue.

That policy is in place so that people who don't have party tickets don't have access to the party, and I agree with it. You could get tickets and your problem would be solved, though there's no way I'd suggest a TS meal during party hours.
