MNSSHP 2015 - Be Prepared For Chaos

Any chance they'll change the number of tickets being sold for future parties after learning from this experience??? We're going on 10/29 and I fear it will sell out too.
Read the closer it gets to Halloween, the crazier and busier it gets. :scared1:Shame such a nice event is TOO CROWDED!

lol. We tried to stand my then 3 year old on the ledge of that planter last year and were told we couldn't do that. Seemed the perfect place for him to me. It was like a nice little brick step. I ended up holding him.

I cringe when I see people hold their kids on planters / trash cans / shoulders / etc. I never thought much about it until my DD at 18 months old decided it was time to get off of DH's shoulders, fell off (while he was trying to catch her and get her down any way) and split her lip wide open on the edge of a seat back in a theater in the Land pavilion. Never saw so much blood in my life. Scared me & DH to death when Disney made us sit and wait for the rescue squad to come and look at her. It was a trip I will never forget. LOL

****Hot lapping rides"****
Gee Johnny Spase Mountain sure was swell. Yes it sure was Betsey Sue. Hey Johnny seeing everyone is standing in line waiting on candy and refreshments or watching the parade maybe we can get back in line and ride it again?? Why sure we can Betsey Sue, thats a swell idea its only a 5 minute stand by time.

You must be 75 and a retired Sunday school teacher.

Please don't stereotype people.

I laughed out loud when I read this, but not because of the attempt to sound like leave it to beaver. Instead, perhaps it is just me, but the irony of the two underlined statements is hilarious!! Thanks for the good laugh.

I thought I read in the past that Disney was really strict about kicking out people who did not purchase the party tickets. So much so that you could not even use a bathroom or browse the stores. I read the cm's would link arms, walk to the entrance and force out folks who just wanted to "hang out" at MK while the party was going on.

I'm sure that is why they make you get down. This particular planter had ledges that were very wide all the way around. It was big enough that adults could stand on it as well.

Sorry about your dd. that does sound scary!

After reading this thread yesterday, I was looking forward to other reports about how MNSSHP went. I just got this in my email. Kenny the Pirate had a lot to say. Here's some quotes, but I suggest clicking on the link, so you can see the photos and read the entire thing,

"The one sister in charge does a face palm when she realizes that they don’t have the 3 ingredients necessary for a great party.

  1. A complete sell out of tickets to more guests than the parties have seen before.
  2. Fewer ways to meet or dance with villains than previous years
  3. Really long lines for character meets.

Dr. Facilier comes along to try to save the party.

He’s happy because he realizes that the party will rake in tons of cash from unassuming tourists who love a 22 year old movie reincarnation into a stage show.....

The sisters then join the celebration......

They strike a deal to create lines for Jack and Sally that will exceed 2 hours and the 7 Dwarfs will average 1.5 hours all night. Nothing is scarier to Disney Cast Members than crazy long lines with grumpy guests on a humid September night........

The sisters bow to his greatness and agree to offer many of the same characters in the same costumes as the daytime with lines of 10 minutes or less most of the night......

The blonde sister is sad because the candy lines were crazy long for 3.5 hours and she couldn’t fill her $18 glowing Mickey candy bucket....

But Maleficent wasn’t included in the party at all this year? No after villain meet? No villain soiree? Only a parade appearance and show segment?....

She then swore revenge upon all those who only allowed meet and greets with Jafar, Cruella, Queen of Hearts, the Witch and Lotso during the party!.....

Capt. Hook wants to know why he can no longer meet guests or shake his booty with them......

Jafar didn’t look very happy to be one of the few working all night while the others did 2 parades and 4 shows......

The sisters cackle over how great their plan is for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. More tickets sold! Less characters to meet or dance with! Huge lines for candy during the early hours! Attract enormous crowds for only 4 showings of their castle spell creation!

Celebrate girls the spell is complete! Disney World visitors will drop $300 per family and then spend more to eat tiny cupcakes and watch fireworks from an odd view with some giant boxes blocking part of their view!......

Oh, okay, that’s not the actual story they told. The real one is in the video below. But my story seems more factual."

They were very strict last year. I think there are a lot of new CMs about so they didn't have the confidence to be as strict as they should. Hopefully it will sort itself out for the next party!

It was my first MNSSHP and it will be my last! I never experienced such crowds before even at Easter week! It was impossible to get near the castle to watch the show, projections or the fireworks because of the construction causing the crowding. You couldn't see anything unless you were right in front of the castle. My daughter and I only lasted until after the projections because people kept pushing us and stepping in front of us. I did find a great spot to see the 2nd parade in front of Tony's restaurant buti got my spot 45 minutes before.
The true horror was trying to get back to Akl. I swear the entire hotel - both Jambo and Kidani was there! I arrived at 12:37 Am and
The line was in the walkway. It took 4 buses until I could get on a bus. We even had a special CM "loading" people on the buses. Never again

Very interesting observations from some hard corps Disney fans.

I will not waste another penny on these "special events".

I'm glad I checked it off my Disney bucket list, but never again!!

I understand that Disney is apparently having no problems selling this out, so I'm in the minority obviously. But it doesn't work for us so we won't do them again.

Halloween party used to be my favorite part of the trip but last night I decided not to do it when we go next year. Not worth the money anymore.

It was definitely not worth the money. This was the last party for us too.

Did I have a terrible time? No. Will I ever pay extra money for another one of these events? Not on your life.

Went yesterday, insane, did not have fun...Needless to say I'm not going back next year.

I'm just glad we opted out this year. Each year for us just gets worse and worse.

It was my first MNSSHP and it will be my last! Never again

I believe the sarcasm works better with the photos, not merely copying the text.

This isn't the first time I gave my opinion on our experience with mnsshp. I'm very happy with the vast majority of what WDW does but there are a few things I don't like and this is one of them.

Obviously many, many people have a great time at the parties. In fact when I first posted about my dissatisfaction with it many months ago, there were a couple of posters who had gone the same exact night I did and had what they considered a wonderful time. Personally, we came very close to asking for a refund, but decided to just stick it out, enjoy what we could and learn from it.

I don't assume because I don't like something there is something inherently wrong with it. It's just not for me. If enough people agree and speak with their wallets instead of continuing to go and complain about it later, maybe they'll change it. If they do, we'll start going again.

I need to stop reading this. I have been waiting 2 years to go to MNSSHP and we're finally going 10/18... I'm really hoping some of this is sorted out before we go

I totally agree, which is why I suggested they click on the link to see your post with the photos. If you like, I will be more than happy to edit my post and take out the quotes. Just let me know if you want me to do that.

The almost complete lack of grammar is amusing too. :)

How was it a long weekend, labor day weekend was the week before so nothing special about this weekend.

I think that could be a big part of it. The blog/review/media group has been getting huge and they are everywhere for first night/day whatever now.
It was Rosh Hoshonna. Many schools in New York, Michigan, and the Northeast had no school Monday.

I am going the 18th also. Here is a prediction: It will be a wonderful night that you will thoroughly enjoy. The crowds will not keep you from having an absolute blast. As for crowds, we should be careful not to judge the whole season of MNSSHP's based on opening night. I have been twice in the past and it was always a great night. Have fun and see you there!

Whoop! I haven't been to Disney since I was 9 years old and I'm the one planning the trip this time. Its hard not to get anxious! Are you wearing a costume?
