MNSSHP 2006, Ready to start planning!

Glad I found this thread :sunny: We have been to WDW many times, but this will be our first MNSSHP. We will attend the 10/26 party party: . Our kids (DD8 and DS6) don't even know there is such a thing as MNSSHP. Won't they be surprised when we tell them we are going to trick or treat in the MK?! We plan to do AK that morning, probably back to ASMo by 1pm for swimming and resting -then on to MK for the big nite.

I am thinking we'll tie a bandana on DS, have him wear his eye patch, paint a mustache on him -maybe add a gold hoop earring, and BAM! he's a pirate. DW and I are trying to think of an easy sneaky costume for DD. I know she wouldn't want to be one of the princesses (maybe feels a little old for that). DW and I will probably wear our Incredible shirts, and maybe even slip on a black mask if we are feeling in the mood.

Anyone else planning for 10/26?

 Zippa D Doodah, we'll be there at the party on 10/26!! My DD12 is going to be surprised because she thinks we're just doing Universal for the weekend. I can't wait :yay: :yay:

I have a question about this ywars MNSSHP:
They keep advertising the parade this year as having a new ending featuring Goofy's Candy Factory.
Did anyone go to last years party? Because I did, and that ending is not new this year. That was the ending for the parade last year as well. Does anyone know what's different about it?
I've been wondering the same thing. Do you think maybe they've expanded on the idea? Maybe the Goofy's Candy section will be larger? :confused3

This will be our first year going to the mnsshp and I was wondering what you all are talking about regarding "goofys candy ending". What exactly does he do?? I am guessing he is the last float and spews candy at everyone??? LOL Thanks guys!

We'll be there on the 2nd so if you see the Super Mario Bros. gang wandering arond that will be us! Be sure to say HI. My son (who is a Mario lover) will be Mario, my daughter will be Princess Peach, my husband will be Luigi, my sister will be Princess Daisy, and I will be Toadette. I don't know how he talked us all into it but even my daughter is warming up to the idea.

Mom - A Toadette!!!!! :lmao: :rotfl: Man, if I were you, I'd be bribing my daughter to be the toad and I'd be Peach!!! You have to post pictures!!!!!

Got my tix in the mail today! It is so hard keeping this secret from DS and DD

For those of you wondering about the Goofy candy ending, you can view the parade and fireworks from last years party at laughing place.com in the lplotion section (link on the left side of the page) and go to October 2005. It's a decent view of both. Hope it's OK for me to put this on here. I'm pretty new still and not sure if I'm allowed yet and not sure of all the rules. Sorry if this isn't allowed.

Going to the party sept. 29th. Wow, super mario brothers.....a character for everyone in the family to play.....great idea.

Hi all! Here's a general MNSSHP question...are adults are allowed to dress up like Disney characters, even if our costumes are pretty elaborate? To put this question in context, DH and I want to go as Belle and the post-transformation (aka human) Beast. I've commissioned a friend of mine's mom to make the yellow Belle dress, and I'll make DH's costume. The thing is, my friend's mom is a professional seamstress, so I'm positive that the dress will come out absolutely fantastic and looking as real as anything the Belle face character wears in the parks. I'm really excited about having such an authentic dress, but the more I think about it, the more I worry that we won't be allowed in because we look TOO MUCH like the Disney cast members who "are" the characters. Anyone have any knowledge about something like this, and can (hopefully) put my fears to rest?!

The WDW website for MNSSHP doesn't list any explict rules on what is allowed as far as costumes go. Allearsnet.com says that costumes can't be gruesome or disgusting, and you can't cover your head entirely (like a mascot costume), but no other rules are noted. I can't speak from personal experience, but I think you'd be OK. It would be rather strange if Disney didn't let people dress up like Disney characters for Halloween! I'm pretty sure I've seen pictures of MNSSHP adult guests dressed as princesses, or Jack Sparrow.

I've heard that if the costume is TOO much like the Disney characters, they can/may ask you to change and not admit you. But that is a rare thing. I remember hearing specifically about a guy dressed like Jack Skellington and I guess his costume was so good he was not let in. I do not know this first hand though so take it for what its worth. I read about it from someone who saw this first hand.

I have also heard that if you look like a real character they may ask you to please not sign autographs and that sort of thing. Basically if a child approaches you, they will tell you to tell them you are just dressed up for Halloween.

My only worry would be how hot will it be in your costume. Tina

Belle's dress is pretty poofy. If it's difficult to get on and off attractions, Cast Members may not let you on for safety reasons. (Rules are enclosed with party tickets.)

Last year I remember seeing many adults dressed in Disney Store bought costumes. My thought would be to bring an accessory - something a little different that you could add to the costume so that kids would know you were a princess, but not one hired by WDW. Perhaps you could make a gold sequence (sp?) Mickey ears headband or one covered with little jewels or pearls. In otherwords, tweak the costume just a bit in order to set yourself apart from the WDW Belle. You could have dinner as Belle before the party in authentic costume.

Thanks for the advice. I don't really care about riding the rides while in this costume -- I'm there for the character meet-n-greets and fireworks and parade more than the rides, plus we're going twice, but will only be dressed up like this for one party, so we'll do the rides in the costumes that won't prevent our getting on, since I'm sure with the poofy crinoline I couldn't fit! I think I'll wear my tiara from my wedding...I paid $100 for it, and have only worn it the one time, and it looks like it has roses on it, which at least will distinguish me slightly from the CM who really IS Belle, but still goes with the overall costume.

We went to the party last year as Shrek and Fiona, which was a lot of fun, but I didn't see a lot of adults dressed up as Disney characters, so I just wasn't sure what others knew about the "unspoken" rules of the party! :)

Hello,
I would love to see your photos when the costumes are completed!
When we went in '03, we saw quite a few adults dressed up so well, even I couldn't distinguish them from the CM's! The only reason we knew they were regular folks was because they were just walking around with everyone else - that's the only reason.
There were quite a few people who thought me and my husband were CM's with our pirate costumes on. It was the end of the summer of the premiere of POC and there weren't too many pirates. There was this one guy that looked EXACTLY like Jack Sparrow!!! I should have taken his photo, it was excellent!
My husband even said he should have stopped him to take a picture.
He even sounded like Jack, too!

The only thing that's holding us back from dressing up so elaborately is the heat, it gets really warm. The costumes we wore were perfect, and I'm trying to gauge what to wear based on that.

Have a great time!!

I have seen grown ups dressed as Disney characters. In fact DH Joe thought Grumpy was the real Grumpy and asked for a picture with him! He didn't look like "the real thing" to us but Joe thought so! :rotfl:

Here's Disneys "official " guidlines for costumes at MNSSHP:

They should not interfere with their ability to board and unboard attractions and WDW transportation system.

Do not drag on the ground.

Do not contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest.

Be offensive to other guest.

Should not contain any weapon(s) which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

About the last one....when Erich was the pirate he had a flexible rubber pirate knife with a skull on the end. When the boys were Ninja Turtle's one had plastic swords strapped to his back and the other the little plastic daggers in his belt.He was Puss N Boots he carried a sword. We had NO PROBLEMS at any time with these props.

BALOO'S COSTUME TIPS

Make sure your child's costume is COMFORTABLE and EASY to get around in. You'll be getting on and off rides and do not want anything that is cumbersome.

I also suggest something in a light weight fabric. Those of us that are accustom to Halloweens up North are use to Trick or Treating in something warm.I grew up in Indiana and it was always cold and/or raining when I was a Trick or Treater! The costumes that are sold through the Disney catalog, like Tigger or Pooh, the jump suit FUR type ones, those are really TOO HEAVY for a Halloween in Florida! The most we've ever needed at MNSSHP is a light jacket or sweatshirt.I make my boys costumes.

If your little girl is going to be a Princess or something quite lovely... I know she looks adorable in those glass slippers but bring sneakers or some other comfortable shoe for her to wear.I've seen little ones dragging around crying about their feet hurting because they're in those plastic dress up shoes which are killing them!

COSTUME IDEAS

I make all our costumes .. I just LOVE to do that. A ball cap and craft foam or felt can be turned into all sorts of creatures faces!! Let's see the costumes I can remember... Erich has been a Mickey,a pirate ,a t-rex,a turtle,a triceratops,an Ewok,a praying manthis and last year Puss N Boots! Erich and Jonathan Teenage Ninja Turtles and ,Pokemon. I make the costumes from shorts and t-shirts.Then I have a sweatshirt and sweat pants that are the same color that they can wear over the shorts and under the shirt if the night is chilly.Joe and I have worn light jackets.

If you feel like you're too old or just don't want to dress in costume for MNSSHP I have great luck finding Disney theme Halloween t-shirts in my local Kmart,Walmarts and Targets. At WDW there are commemorative T-shirts for the MNSSHP.Or you could make your own T-shirt with help right here at the DIS on the Creative DISigns Board!! http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=105

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE OFFICIAL EVENT CALENDAR AND DESCPRIPTION IS OUT FOR THIS YEAR YET??? LAST TIME I HEARD, THE OFFICIAL DETAILS HADN'T BEEN RELEASED YET.

...IF NOT, WHEN CAN WE EXPECT THEM?
:clown:

Well in years past here on the DIS the events for that particular year weren't posted until some DISer had been to the first party and I got the info from them.Someone scanned a brochure for me last year. That's when I updated the information on the sticky post (which TPAS doesn't have yet for 2006 MNSSHP) for the year. :wizard:
