MNSSHP 2006, Ready to start planning!

Regarding costumes...DD8 wants to be Alice. I think that's great--should be comfortable if its warm--and if its chilly, we'll through some thick tights on her. But I'm trying to find an Alice costume--any suggestions?

PS--Please don't suggest I sew one...I think the result would be years of therapy for making my DD wear it. :rotfl:

They have one here:

http://www.buycostumes.com/ProductD...tID=Search+Results&ccatid=alice in wonderland

or you could try Ebay.

P.S. I would never suggest sewing, I don't sew myself lol

I just found this thread today ...... (I know, where HAVE I been?!?) ....... My b-day is Oct. 6th :bday: & I turn 35 this year just like MK, so we're planning a trip for that weekend (probably 3 days).

Well, the kids are catching wind of the MNSSHP & have started asking to attend .... I don't know much about it as we've never been before, so I figure I need to read up! :teeth:

I haven't read the WHOLE thread (yet), so I apologize if I'm asking a repeat question, but do APs only get a discount on party tix for certain nights or any night??? We are planning to be in MK on that Friday 10/6 for my b-day, so I figured we would just get MNSSHP tix for that night as well ....... Can anyone help me???

Last year was the first year they offered an AP discount and hopefully that will continue...but it was only on certain nights and they were weeknights, not Fridays.

We went two years ago and we're going back this year - CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Very helpful post Corryn - we went a few years ago on Halloween & found it very crowded, didn't get any candy at all, missed a lot of things we wanted to see, DH was grumpy, etc.

After reading your post I feel like I know how to make sure we have a better time. Plus we are going on 10/2, so maybe not quite so crowded.

Hopefully I can get everybody to dress up, that would be fun! I really liked the lighting & the decorations last time. I know DD11 will be happy to get some candy & ride some rides!

SMNORNES:

Just an FYI--> from the moment we landed in Orlando, we changed a diaper and went to the bathroom (DH and I) and we were the last people off the plane. We made it from Landing into POP in 45minutes!! YUP! we were the only bus stop and there was no line at check in so we even had our keys!! we didn't go to our room, just hit a park, but it's doable. it just all depends on your luck. If you take your costumes in your carry ons, and then change at the resort, but in the bathrooms there (don't bother checking in) then leave your carryons at luggage services, then head to the bus stop and get on the first bus you see MK or Epcot (and take the monorail), you will make it about 7 or 7:30. you will feel rushed, but you will make it :)

We usually go around Halloween. They close the park at 6:00 P.M. to herd out the daytime guests. The party is officially 7 P.M.- Midnight but they allow you in the park at 4:00 P.M.( At least they have the last couple of years). This party is a must and you will greatly enjoy it. Bring a extra toothbrush because you will get so much candy you will get sick of looking at it all.

They did have MNSSHP AP holder discounts on the first Friday last year(9/30).

You just carry it with you. And yes, the party is officially from 7:00 - 12:00. I believe they normally start allowing people in after 4:00 with only a party ticket though. We didn't go that early, but we did go around 5:00 and had no problem getting in.

What about Splash Mountian and runaway train type rides would they let you carry on a bag full of candy??

from what i've found they let you carry on anything, you just have to keep it tight. At least that is what DH did last year at MNSSHP :) oooohhh i can't WAIT!

yes you can carry on your candy bags on all of the rides. As the pp said, just hold tight to the bag so that the candy doesn't go flying.

We had no problem carrying our bags on with us and we rode everything! :Pinkbounc

What time do they do the fireworks? Did I read something about midnight? I'm worried my 4 year old won't make it that late even with day of rest & nap.

Thanks for the tip about maybe not buying in advance in case the weather is terrible. I hadn't thought of that but October 20 ought to be prime hurricane weather given the late season storm trend of recent years. That's a Thursday night, think I can take my chances on buying maybe the week before? For the advance purchase do they mail the armbands to you (or a voucher?) or can you buy them in advance then pick something up at the park?

Thanks!

The fireworks have always been at 9:15p.

You should be fine waiting to buy your tickets.

If you buy them ahead of time you can either have the tickets (actual tickets) mailed to you or pick them up at the Will Call window (then save on the $3. shipping).

You're welcome! I have purchased from them in the past, they ship quickly & are easy to deal with. Hope you find something you like!

This is a great costume site, thanks for the link!! Lots of Disney costumes for adults too!!
:cool1:

A lot has been asked about the candy bags and being able to bring them on the rides. I'm not sure if this has been explained, but the candy bags are about the size of a paper lunch bag, just a little wider, with a handle to hold it. It's not a big pillowcase size (as some of us remember trick or treating with!) so it is easy to hold. But you can fill up that bag pretty quick!

Just subscribing to follow along. We are going to be in Disney Oct 28 - Nov 6 for our first ever trip. I'm really hoping they have a MNSSHP on the 28th. That would fit our plans beautifully

Hi Chelley :wave2:

There's no party on the 28th unfortunately or 29th either so if you're arriving on 28th you'd need to do MNSSHP on either Mon 30th or Tues 31st. We'll be going on 30th more than likely. Welcome to the DIS!
