MMB - DVC Gold AP

I am having to cancel my September trip to WDW. I have a lot of previously banked points on the reservation that I could lose on 12/1. Now technically, I did not pay anything on these points as they were reimbursed to me after an issue on my trip last year, but I still hate the idea of losing those points. So I was thinking, I could cancel about half the reservation and then rent out the rest as I think it could be desirable. In my thinking, I will cancel enough of the reservation to be able to bank any points I can and then use some to purchase the DVC gold AP. Or maybe even a little more to stalk for a night or 2 at Disneyland? I did not renew mine earlier this year for a couple reasons and figured I would closer to the trip. So my questions ---- would I be able to purchase the Gold AP using previously banked points? And would I be able to activate in March 2026 with no issues?

If you are eligible for MMB, and want to use points for the Sorcerer AP…no more Gold…then it depends.

If they are resale points, then are supposed to be ones from 2016 or earlier.

But, there is at least one report they were allowed to use ones bought in 2023?

I was not. I had to use direct points. A call to MS can help you!!

First, the Gold AP doesn't exist anymore, you'll be looking to purchase a Sorcerer's Pass.

Second, if you are DVC-Y, you're eligible to purchase MMB. If you have MMB, you can use in-year points, banked points, one-time use points, direct or resale points for the AP. You might want to read about your one-time use points purchase option if you buy MMB - some folks are using up to 24 of those points to put towards the AP.

You'll need to contact Member Services to purchase the AP through MMB. Once you make the purchase, you'll have 1 year to activate the pass - so March 2026 would certainly work with no issues.

Good point about the resale points. There have been some differing experiences there!

To add more context - the reservation is in my DVC-Y use year and uses at least 200 points that are direct that are banked from 2023. So I definitely have the direct points available. I would just need to make sure the resale stay on the reservation and I make the direct available to purchase the sorcerer pass (and I did seriously know that was the name - no idea why I called it gold - I blame stress).

So I guess my next step is to call MS and purchase MMB, cancel at least part of the Sept reservation, and then purchase the DVC Sorcerer Pass with points.

You said you would lose the banked points on 12/1, implying a December UY...keep in mind that the banking deadline is tomorrow if you wanted to bank any remaining current year points.

Update ----

I got it all taken care of. I cancelled about half my Sept reservation and will probably be cancelling more days off it or trying to partially rent it out. I still have a little time before holding will start hitting the points on the reservation. I was able to bank 39 more points (I had already banked the rest of the ones for this use year that were not used). And I purchased the Sorcerer AP with some of the points. I will be stalking for nights at VGC or VDH between now and the end of the UY to use up even more. And trying to figure out how I will be using the insane number of points I have available for next year.
