MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Hello everyone! We are still around, just snowed under and I really mean snowed under lol my parents are really under too, we both have about 24 inches of snow now and they seem to think we are getting more?? I am not sure, just know that some parties that were planned have been changed due to weather! I am sure we are not the only ones in the snow though :lmao:

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday! We are still on program, all except my Husband, he has been in the hospital and they said he needed more carbs than just 20g. But he is still on plan just adding about 2 servings of carbs.... hope it works out for him they now have decided that he is a diabetic. So we are on the right track with this WOE and hopefully he will get the hang of things soon...

Wishing you all well!

Melanie, sorry about your plans getting rescheduled. I know the news said Philly and Jersey area were to get it pretty bad. Stay safe.
I will be saying some prayers for your hubby. Sorry to hear about his diabetes. Is he able to control it with diet or will he need medication? I have a good friend whose daughter was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 2. She is now around 24 and has to wear an insulin pump. But she does take good care of herself. She is now pregnant, and we are sooo excited!! Tell your husband I said hello and take care of himself.

Good morning all! Hope you all had a good night's sleep.

Jocelyn, I did watch the steeler game. But only the first half. I made supper, my cod and mushrooms, so it was in and out of the kitchen to keep track of it LOL. By 7 I fell asleep. I remember them having about 5 minutes in the last quarter and they were winning if I remember right. When I woke up around 12:30, I told Mike I was going to bed and he said they won. YAAAA

Lisa, hoping your not getting sick and your dad feels better before all the Christmas festivities. You make me wish you were my mom!! All the loving things you do, I am so envious!!! I love to bake, but don't have the time to really do it. I need to "revamp" a bit so life isn't so hectic.

We have another front coming in for Christmas. They are calling for rain :( Still hoping for that white Christmas!!!

Robin, glad you had a fun snow day.

Off to get my morning shower. Have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning Everyone!

I know you're going to be very busy this week, so wanted to pop in and wish you all a wonderful holiday with your family & friends.

Saying special prayers for safe journeys for all your loved ones and for healing for all who have health issues.

Robin, happy you took a day to play in the snow, sounds like fun! The view from your porch must be too beautiful for words to describe. Hope the snow clears out so you can finish your preparations and leave on time. Will keep you in my prayers for a safe trip, also special prayers for Dennis & Rick.

Hope Santa is very good to everyone!
:grouphug:

Have a Very Merry Christmas!!

Good Morning! Snow Day #3 from work...still no way to get there, so my supervisor e-mailed me to just stay home again! Like I had any other choice! LOL So thats it for me til I get back from CT...good thing, as I am getting so much done, I dont know HOW I would have done it if I had worked these last 3 days!

If Enterprise cant get me an SUV, looks like I will be packing up the Big Rig, (the Ford Dually) and heading out...nothing is stopping me from getting to CT!!

Dennis is out of ICU again, but in the pulmonary wing where they can watch his lungs....feeling a bit better but still on oxygen and pain meds. HOPE they can get him home for those 2 days at Christmas they are promising...I HATE that I will not be here for that, but he understands and wont even hear about me feeling bad about it! He is such a dear dear man. I will get out of here somehow tomorrow to go see him before I leave and bring Christmas gifts for them.

Lisa - PRAYING you dont get sick! That would be just awful for you, but I know you have every trick in the book up your sleeve to prevent it!! Drink that tea girl!

Jocelyn - sounds like time for a new laptop....maybe Santa needs to bring you one! I agree with you on Melanies husband...every time I add ANY fruit back into this plan my blood sugar goes off the charts again...doesnt seem to be the carbs in general, just the fruit...I think Pony is going to just live on Step 1 with the occasional cheat when necessary! LOL

SharronLee - hope you have a wonderful Christmas too, and I just WISH y'all could see the view from my porch...it really is breathtaking!!

Kathy - sorry you are getting rain, sounds like they are going to have rain on Christmas Eve here too, glad you got some good sleep last night!

Off to hike down to feed the ponies, back later!! Making fudge and pumpkin breads today, so gotta get my willpower charged up for that!:wizard:

Good Morning everyone! :wave2:

I hope everyone is well and are settleing in for a wonderful holiday season!:grouphug:

We got back from Mexico early last week, I managed to get most of my hetic work done last week and now can kind of relax and enjoy what this week will bring. Had a terrific time and got a lot of work done on the house. I didn't make much of an attempt to stay on plan, I knew far in advance that it would be pretty pointless. No weight gain, no loss. I can deal with that!:teeth:

Lisa and Robin, I got your cards on Saturday! Thank you so much, mine will go out one day this week, I'll scan a few photos from Mexico and add them for your viewing pleasure. lol :magnify: The mountain/desert views are wonderful and I just gotta share!

To those of you traveling this week, be safe. And to all of you, have a wonderful, peaceful holiday week with your family and friends!

Merry Christmas and God Bless you all!

Good Monday Morning !
I've come back for my comeuppance from you all  I had a planned cheat for my family party on Saturday and it turned into a lost weekend :sad2: I did the old mind game of "might as well eat the leftovers bla bla bla". You cannot belive how fast my body felt the bad eating! My eyes are puffy, my rings are tight, my normal sore places are screaming at me. I told hubby this morning that my next planned cheat won't be until my birthday in May. I'm back on plan this morning and will be drinking water in overdrive.

It sounds like everyone made it through the great snow of '09 on the east coast. All of you, please be careful if you're traveling. I'm such a scaredy cat when driving in snow, it makes DH nuts.

I'm so glad Diane has reinforced her belief in the safety of step1. I believed it all along but I'm glad she is saying it since she's our leader :)

I was able to corner my son this weekend and gave him some tips on designing our MM Warrior. Remember her? He thinks we're really strange :lmao: but he's got the idea, a fierce, bootylicious Godiva, with Crocs and a MM shield. Should be interesting :woohoo:

Unlike Lisa and Robin, I'm working through Wednesday this week so I'd better do something :thumbsup2 I'll check in later.

Love Ya!

Pony, lets hope the roads are cleared so it's not dangerous to get out Wednesday. I'm sure you'll love hitting all of the stores, as much as you love coming home to your beautiful farm afterward! You must be excited. I agree with you that I need the alarm again. I think it's still going to be hard until I stay home to hear it! lol. Last night I had two half cups of strong homemade eggnog. I think it was made without sugar because it wasn't sticky. I can usually taste real sugar and now I actually have an aversion to it. Who would have ever thought. The eggnog was way too good though, and I don't usually indulge. I was a bit lightheaded. (like I need to be any less grounded!:lmao:)

Hi Lisa. I just read your post. No, I was doing ok for a while but then got really off schedule. I'm going to set the alarm again like Pony suggested. It was like you pointed out a while back, when I set the alarm I do end up eating meals, despite what I call them!

Carol, I hope you enjoyed your church celebration!

Melanie, it's good to hear from you! I'm sorry that your husband has been sick.

Jocelyn, I am enjoying finding new friends. It's not many people, just a couple we really enjoy spending time with. I'm a person that does better with few but good friends than many friends. I love when you share about the traditions you have for many years. I'm a flighty person and I so admire stability. I love listening to you share because it helps me grow more into the person I'd like to be.

Lisa, I hope you enjoy your cleaning. I know that you are one of those people who love to organize. :) I really enjoy when I accomplish things also! Hopefully I will do some of that today, lol. I have a bunch of work to do and then I'm planning to attend a meditation tonight. I'm really happy for you that John Paul is on his way home.:banana::banana:

Kathy, I agree with you, I wish Lisa was my mom too! We could all thrive with a mom so supportive and loving! I hope that you get snow for Christmas also.:santa: I found that in living in hotter climates that rain also worked for me. Anything but hot and muggy, lol. Florida isn't nearly as bad as being in Puerto Rico for the holidays. It's cool here. I tried to post light peeping photos on facebook, but it publishes my whole folder again. I think I'm going to have to post photos one at a time from now on.

Hi (((Sharron Lee))) It's great to see you!

Pam, thank you for coming in to say hello! We miss you when you don't come around!

I'm sorry you feel lousy Barb! It's good that your drinking water to flush things out. This plan is just an absolute blessing. Life happens, we occasionally mess up but we have a plan for hopping right back on the train. :) I can especially relate because of my eggnog excursion last night, lol. I don't know for sure what was in it. I'm not feeling sick or craving today, but I could be terribly sick taking a chance like that.

I think it is so cool that you have your son working on the MM warrior! Don't work too hard today at work!

Kathy: Thanks for the well wishes! I feel normal today. Dad’s cake is baked, some of the lemons are squeezed and J-P’s bed is made fresh. I’m so excited!

Pam: I can’t wait to see the views from Mexico! I can hear it in your ‘voice’ that you are having a wonderful time there! Merry Christmas!

Barb: Glad you got right back on the Pony! These cheats often turn out to not be worth it, huh? Once we find out what’s poison, there’s not a lot of reason to drink it, lol! I had too much wine the other night (that’s 2 glasses for me!) and I felt awful the next day. Take care of yourself and I hope the water works to cleanse your system. You might want to try some dandelion tea or pills. It’s a natural diuretic, if you are swollen. I can’t wait to see the MM Warrior your son comes up with!

Have a wonderful MM day everyone! I think I hear sleigh bells coming near!
:santa:

Oh, and for those of you who want me to be your Mom, you might not like my consequences, LOL! Just kidding; they would be positive.:wizard: If you break a window, you have to wash windows to pay for it, though. There's someone who could tell you about that....

Here's some info on yogurt carb counts. I seem to recall we had some discussion re this before about the active cultures in yogurt eating the carbs. This is for plain yogurt:

You can eat up to a half cup of plain yogurt, buttermilk, or kefir and only count 2 grams of carbohydrates (Dr. Goldberg has measured this in his own laboratory.) One cup will contain about 4 grams of carbohydrates. Daily consumption colonizes the intestine with these bacteria to handle small amounts of lactose in yogurt (or even sugar-free ice cream later.)

This would mean most unsweetened plain yogurt is legal for a step1 5x5. Add your favorite sf syrup :cool1:

Good Evening All! Still not plowed out, but I took the big rig and ventured out anyway! Made it to the corner store in about 35 minutes...usually takes about 5!! It is totally trecherous on our little back roads, but once you make it out to the main roads, its not too bad, so off to Ct I go on Wednesday...they are promising to have our road cleared by tomorrow night, so that will sure help!

Pam - so glad you got the cards and had a wonderful trip!

Barb - OMG, back on the pony, drinking your water, I say no harm done!

Nell - I have to say I would love to have been a fly on the wall after you had your egg-nog! Glad you are enjoying your new friends, but dont forget to take some "Nell-Time" too!

Lisa - LOL, they definitely would not want ME to be their mother! haha, your consequences would PALE compared to mine!! Im such a neat freak they would be headed home after a couple months! Love you guys and you are welcome here ANY TIME, but take your shoes off at the door, dont leave any dishes in the sink, make your beds after you get up, and clean the kitchen AS you cook, not AFTER!!

Doc told Dennis he will not be going home for Christmas after all, so he is very upset, but with the roads the way they are and the foul weather predictions for Christmas Eve, they just dont want to risk sending him home and then having no way to get him back if things go sour...he does understand, but was crying earlier...broke my heart.

Got the last gifts wrapped and am starting to pile everything up downstairs that has to go North...not so sure how I am going to get it all in the truck, but Im sure it will all fit SOMEHOW...I figure I can always throw some stuff in big garbage bags and stow it in the bed! If the 500 pounds of snow in there now ever melts!

Down to a couple hard boiled eggs and a cup of cottage cheese in the fridge...going to be living on scrambled eggs and turkey rollups tonite and tomorrow! But at least there wont be anything nasty in the fridge when I return...I hope to be bringing back all sorts of exciting things from up North to refill it with anyway!:woohoo:

Arrrggghhhh! Lost my whole post! I basically answered all of you and told you all that I loved you. Grrrrrr.... made me mad! Anyway, I love all of you!!! :grouphug:

Morning All - sun is shining, hopefully melt some of this darn snow! Its 8am and Im off to feed ponies, pack up the big truck and fight my way out of here and head to visit Dennis at the hospital before I re-pack the truck for the trip North tomorrow! OMG, so much to do still, but at least all the baking is done, kitchen is clean, gifts are wrapped...the packing is going to be interesting though!! thank goodness the truck has a full back seat but how to fit dog crate, gifts, luggage, and coolers all in there?

Its making me crazy that I havent gotten to the gym since last thursday, but I guess according to Diane's latest blog, all the shoveling and trudging through knee high snow is considered exercise too!

Lisa - I have even packed my green tea to take with me..:littleangel:

Wish I had unlimited time on this trip so I could swing in to visit Melanie, Kathy and Natalie on the way! Y'all are at least within driving distance of my trek!

Back later, hope everyone is having a great day!:santa::car:

Morning. Quick check in before I am off to a 7:00 a.m. meeting! Robin - travel safe tomorrow. Have a great holiday with your daughter. Lisa - I hope J-P is home, safe and sound, and asleep in his room. Enjoy your time with him. I will say Hi to everyone else later today.

Robin: Safe travels and Merry Christmas if I don't 'see' you before tomorrow. Kids arrived after midnight and J-P is home so all is well. Sis is at Mom and Dad's and we do Dad's birthday tonight. Last minute things to do today and get my Geek squad kid over here.

Love you all!:santa:

Hi Ladies. Just checking in. How's everyone doing. Busy, busy, busy here!!! So glad to have received some Christmas cards from my ladies!!! Hopefully y'all will be getting mine shortly.

Really late sending out this year. Seems like Christmas snuck up on me this year. I was so ahead of the game last year...oh well. I'm going to go visit my Mommy for New Years so I'm very happy about that!

Even though I'm not completely on plan, I'm not completely off either. Beginning Jan 1st I will be completely back on board and on Step 1 again. I will have to compensate for my P90X though.

Going to try to read some posts tonight...

Miss everyone tremendously!!

Hi,

We have discovered it is the power cord and not the computer that is the problem. Bob was able to re-wire the older cord, but the new one is just dead. I'm now researching on how to get a refund on that. Everything is closed now.

I don't dare unplug this one so will write a very short note. I can't sit in a regular chair for long.

Have a safe trip, Pony.

Love to ALL:love:

OK Ladies, I am off to shower and hit the hay so I can get up early and on the road! The poor truck is weighed down and groaning!!

Kate and Lisa - glad your kiddos are safely home and hope you enjoy every minute with them.

Jocelyn - sorry you cant sit long enough to chat, but hopefully you will get straightened out soon!

Cindy - take a deep breath and do what you can! Somehow it always ends up getting done!

EVERYONE!! Have a wonderful Christmas! I will check in a couple times and will miss you ladies so much!!

:santa::grouphug::drive:

Hi everyone!

(((Pony))) Please be careful on the road.

All of you be careful driving around in fact!

I ended up making a virtual card. Hopefully it gets out to everyone. It's a big file. I can't even keep things simple, lol

Well, I've got to get to work some more! Love all of you! :grouphug:

It looks like most of us don't have much time right now to read or post. My days have been full of all those little errands that seem to come along right before Christmas. Picking up stocking stuffers, cleaning the house, helping friends get their Christmas plans accomplished, getting the ingredients for a Christmas brunch, still trying to get to the store for that one last present for my DD18...I have gone to that store several times now and the parking lot is full...just can't talk myself into going in and having to wait in line for1/2 hour or more. I plan to get there when they open tomorrow and run in and out before it gets crowded. Then to WalMart and hopefully do the same thing for a spool of pink thread to finish the apron for my DD25. Wish me luck!

Glad that all the college kids are home safely and that everyone is doing okay.

Robin, will keep you in my prayers for a safe trip. And also prayers for Dennis and Rick for some peace and comfort for this season .

Good night and well wishes for a wonderful Christmas,

Carol
