MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

My Mom and sister were wonderful at sewing. The last time I tried to sew something, I sewed a sleeve onto the neck opening :rotfl:

LOL! My sister tried to sew sideways - she wouldn't let me help her. The wailing was heard for blocks!

Beverly: I love peanut butter fudge! This season, I am content to remember it fondly. We’ll see if and when I eat it again! My son once sold the most popcorn to earn the knife. The knife arrived; he opened it, promptly sliced his finger open and never pulled it out again! Did you ever see the Bill Cosby when he had the field trip headache? I can so relate!

Wow! We are learning about our diabetics aren’t we? I am, again, so grateful that Diane has made herself available for them. What a relief that we didn’t need to try to figure this out ourselves and mess it up further! I have to remember there are exceptions to every rule. Now, it seems we know that insulin is the culprit so we will have to curtail that pesky hormone!

Natalie: Let’s try to think the best until we have reason not to about your nephew. I doubt the companions are that ‘black’ and tend to think they are youth trying to re-invent things they don’t understand quite yet. I hope so anyway and I hope their hearts are in the right place. Sometimes people think they have been called upon by God to do certain things when they are mentally ill. It’s very sad.

Step 1 from memory:

Breakfast within 1 hour was a protein shake with almond milk, pb, cocoa and flax or
Slice of frittata from recipe thread, bit of cottage cheese

Lunch lc tortilla or salad with chicken or turkey and veggies.

Snack nuts, string cheese, or celery with crab dip or cream cheese or pb

Dinner lean meats, veggies, sometimes taco on lc tortilla

Dessert cocoa almonds

Bedtime snack Aitkens shake

Mid night snack string cheese

P.S. We love your cute face! Show it as much as you can!:cutie:

Hi Everyone - I'm out here. Just getting by. Not completely on plan, but not really off either...if that makes sense. So busy with birthdays, end of year work stuff and family matters. Hope everyone is doing well and I miss you all!!!

MUAH!

Love you! Good to see you! How are you doing with your exercise program?:cheer2:

I think it's the same one. I looked it up to check and it did say it was a pre-christian norse god. I don't think that is nearly as scary as some things younger people are getting into unwittingly.

There was a movie about Vikings with Kurt Douglas when I was young. I thought they were quite sexy, lol! Loved pirates, too. If I were really spirited away I'd be so scared my lips would turn inside out!

Well, I am going to try to be good and post once and go straight to bed! LOL, not easy for a big-mouth like me!! Back from the gym, and a quick chat with Ken, then bed with a book and the doggie...

Jocelyn - interesting about KW and her BS...I could have sworn she was forever posting about another size lost, another bunch of clothes she couldnt wear, now all of a sudden she hasnt lost anything at all on step 2? I think she has been on step 2 for more than 2 months...makes me wonder just how truthful some are being in their posting there...seems she and GL both wanted to be big shots and now both are having trouble, and GL is off plan altogether according to her e-mail to me last week. Well, I wish them well and hopefully Diane will get them straight with the BS too...hee hee, get it?

Nell - your amazing range of knowledge is always so interesting to me!! Oh and BTW, I didnt get the Christmas list...what am I off the list? Please send it to me!! I promise I am going to try and at least address some envelopes tomorrow! :upsidedow

Bev - thats so great that you will have 2 Eagles!! I dont think some people realize all that is involved there and what an honor it really is....BTW, care to share that banana/pineapple bread recipe? I have several banana bread lovers who would probably really enjoy that! E-mail it to me so we dont get anyone confused here!! Thanks!

Natalie - hopefully all this is simply an attention thing...or like Lisa said, simply youngsters trying to interpret something they really know nothing about! I will be praying for that guardian angel to be sitting on his shoulder, and for God to speak to his heart!

Hi Cindy!!

Barb and Lisa - thanks for posting those step 1 menus of yours...I was kinda having to think about it again today myself!! I was like, um ok, so I dont have to eat an 11-20 every 5 hours, but I DO have to eat something every 5 hours...almost slipped and had a 12g protein bar earlier...WHEW, caught myself on that one!

Night ALL! Off tomorrow, but have to shop and fill out some more medicaid forms for Dennis, so have to go to the hospital and do it so he can sign...PROMISE to get tons of sleep though! Might not even get up until 9am!!

Just checking in. Read a lot of the posts. I am in Step 2 and don't know if I am losing inches or not. Hope so. Seems I am at a stand-still with adding carbs back in slowly. Was hoping this would work great for me. I just have problems getting all my water in every single day.:rotfl: Hope everyone is ready for the holiday. Talk to all later. Have a very busy schedule right now. Everyone have a good MM day!

Honeygram

Good morning everyone!

Honeygram and Cindy, great to see you!!

Here is what I have been doing on step 1:

Upon waking I eat 2-3 spoonfuls of cottage cheese

by 8am I have a western omlet (egg, cheddar cheese, and grilled onion, peppers, and cubed ham)

if hungry, snacks are cashews, pecans, string cheese, spoonful peanut butter, a miracle muffin, boiled eggs, pretty much anything under the sun that is legal LOL.

Dinner is a meat (usually chicken) with a salad or soup with shirataki noodles.

Nell, it is great to be so knowledgeable! Someone needs to be able to tell me these things!!

Natalie, I will be praying for your nephew. It is so difficult to be young with so many confusing things being told to you. I pray that God will open his heart and mind and his guardian angel stays very close to him during this period.

Off to get ready to take Carrie to school. Just can't seem to get into the mood to decorate this year!! Just don't feel like the hastle of taking it all down afterward LOL.

The other day when this board was quiet, I went over to the other board. GL had been missing for quite awhile but had just came back. She posted a bunch of her photography and said she'd been really busy with that. KW was not posting much. Aggiemom seems to be the main guardian now. If GL and KW are struggling, I think they owe it to the group to share more and not fake it :confused3 I don't know that Diane can help either of them with their BS

Well, I'm starting back on step 1 today and will have to get my head back around 5 carbs or less every 5 hours, eating something 1 hour after waking and 1 hour before bed. I do pretty well most of the day except for the eating first thing in the morning. I get up and get busy with my chores and before I know it, hours have gone by and I haven't eaten.

We didn't go out for our anniversary dinner last night as our 1 yr old grandson was sick with a high fever and we could tell that our daughter would like to have some help with the 3 yr old until her husband got home from class at 9:00pm.We will try again tonight to get out. I was all pumped up for the "we need to talk" thing last night so hope I can carry through.

Nell, Thanks for sending the list. There are a few names on it that weren't on the one I had received before. I'm hoping to get my cards out this weekend . I am making a commitment to myself that this will not be a year when i get them out the week of Christmas and it's iffy that they make it there in time. I have actually done quite a bit of my Christmas shopping and have finished with a few of the kids. I am proud of myself! It's so less stressful for me...I find I'm actually thinking about other things I want to do for the season and doing them. We covered a small box in wrapping paper and wrote on it "The Thankfulness Box" and put it on the kitchen table. There is a pen and paper there for anyone to write down something they're thankful for and put in the box. I asked the kids to try and come up with one thing a day. We will open the box on Christmas Eve and read what people have written. I had to clarify for them that it couldn't be something really stupid like "I'm thankful for air" or along those lines. I'm hoping they take the challenge to write things they are truly thankful for.

Great to see you Cindy and Honeygram!

Off to my friend's birthday breakfast...the easiest step 1 meal to eat at a restaurant, I think.

Carol
Step 1

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Good Morning! Its 11am and I just got up! OMG, I let the dog out at 7am , popped a mozzy stick and went back to sleep! Wow, maybe I am taking this get more sleep thing a little too far! so much to do today as usual...

Good to see you Honeygram, step 2 does take some getting used to, but you will be fine!! Drink that water and dont forget to get in the exercise, it really helps too.

Carol - can you forward me that new card list? I didnt get the latest one either, and apparently didnt make it onto the e-mail list to receive the one you just got! Im going to at least address some cards today and hope to get them all out by Sunday. Eating first thing in the morning was always hard for me too on Step 1, so I just keep something by the bed and get it down before I start moving around too much! Love the idea of the Thankful Box!!

Barb - I agree with you that those guys should be truthful with the others...thats one of the great things here with us...doesnt matter what we do, we just blurt it all out, and someone will swoop in and figure it out, make suggestions, offer consolation...whatever needs doing. What a great gift for me to have you all!! Guess thats what brought us all here together...we have become true friends, not just a bunch of names on a a blog. I AM THANKFUL FOR ALL YOU MM'S !!!:grouphug:

Carol: I LOVE your Thankfulness Box idea. It's more comfortable than being on the spot extemporaneously. I love it! Remember, you will have to eat within one hour of waking for the rest of your life. If you are Met B, it is really important to get used to doing that. Robin's suggestion of having something on the nighttable might work for you until you get in the habit. Or make a note to yourself at your first location you pass by near or in the kitchen every day. Your body thinks you are going to go on a long trek and starve it if you don't eat and it will hang on to every fat cell.:scared1:

Robin: GL and KW were both diabetic, too, right? I'm a bit shocked because KW and I started really close to the same time and she was getting great results. Makes me wonder if they changed something they were doing and didn't tell people. Focusing on your photography could be code for 'eating things I shouldn't because I'm choosing to be distracted'. I sure wish the best for them and everyone else. Like you, I am so very grateful for our special group here. It would FREAK me out if no one was getting results, though! You were wise to go straight to Diane for help. You had stuck to the plan 100% and didn't experiment on your own. Trust my jeans, Trust my jeans, Trust my jeans! Whew! OK, Barb - got it!

Did your black pants come yet? Mine are supposed to arrive today and I think I'll have to have 5" cut off of them, but it was the only way to get that fabric.

They came Saturday. Too tight but that's ok because I really like the fabric too! One more pair of goal pants in the closet. I could return for the next size up but I think they'd be too big before too long.

Hi Cindy and Honeygram. Nice to "see" both of you.

I just had a hard boiled egg and ate half of the yolk and one of my muffins. I made a batch yesterday and put 1/2 cup of pumpkin in it. It made them a bit more moist with just a hint of pumpkin taste. It is amazing how filling they are.

Costco here was selling a coleslaw mix for a while. It had dried cranberries and walnuts to add to the cabbage mix and a dressing. I was going to buy it for a large gathering I was having and they didn't have it in where the large Caesar salads are kept. Well...when I asked they said they were not making it anymore, but she said the dressing was mayo, sugar and vinegar - the standard coleslaw dressing. I was looking for a different crunch for a salad last night and made it without the cranberries, and used pecans instead. It came out great. The red and green cabbage is festive looking. I used Splenda, mayo and cider vinegar for the dressing. For a gathering I will add the cranberries - they are easy to pick out for those that don't want them.

The clouds are all gone and it is a perfectly clear day again today. I am always amazed at how pretty it is here looking out over the island. I'm, meeting a friend for a swm this morning. It takes some courage to get into the pool, but once in and moving it is fine. I can always warm up as soon as I get out. I still have enough "padding" that I won't suffer!:rotfl2:

Beverly - congratulations to your son and his Eagle Scout work. I know how much time you and your husband have to put in too.

Lisa - sounds as if you will be putting your sewing skills to the test when your pants arrive? I'm like you, I can make most anything given a patten or specific instructions, but on my own I fail at creativity. I need to SEE it in front of me!

Kate - hope you are OK.

Hi to everyone else, too and hope your day went by well.

:grouphug:

They came Saturday. Too tight but that's ok because I really like the fabric too! One more pair of goal pants in the closet. I could return for the next size up but I think they'd be too big before too long.

That's the spirit! They're long enough for you, though?

Jocelyn: The 'secret' ingredient in my coleslaw is celery seed. Everyone always asks what makes the difference;) About a tsp. for a standard recipe. Other than that, same as yours. Oh, and green onion for the one without cranberries - and salt:)
