MM - 2 Adults - Opinion

Hi Guys,

I'm sorry to do this, as there are a million threads on MM. But it's our first trip to DL and we're trying to maximize what we get to do. We actually have plenty of days in Anaheim, but I'm still an OCD planner.

We are two adults, who'd rather not criss cross and we're not going to separate so that one can "run" and get a fast pass.

Our first "day" is the afternoon/evening of Wednesday, May 27. Our plan for that time is to wander and soak up atmosphere (and make our first attempt at the fireworks since for some crazy reason they're on the schedule for this Wednesday in "off season" ). Our Magic Morning will be Thursday, May 28.

Peter Pan will be closed when were there and Dumbo and Tea Cups are not on the list.

For MM, the Unofficial Guide recommends Space, Buzz, and Matterhorn first before the other Fantasyland rides. But it seems like no one on the DISboards does it that way. Is that because most of the folks asking have kids and FL is the most important?

I was thinking: Space, Buzz, Matterhorn, Alice, Mr. Toad, Snow White, Pinocchio.

Storybook Canal boats are also a must do. So I figured the above order would let me be in that vicinity at regular park opening time and we could get in line for that right when it opens, returning to the above list if we hadn't finished them.

That sounds like a great plan. If you happen to miss Storybook in the morning, you could try riding it at night, or even better, during the fireworks some evening. Kinda tricky to time it right, but it's REALLY fun.

It looks good to me. I would do it that way if it was only me and DH, especially if PP was down.

Make sure you do both sides of The Matterhorn.

The other lines may be affected by PP being down too so the waits may be a little longer than usual, but by skipping the rides that you did, you should be fine.

You might also consider doing Indiana Jones during MM. (if it's open that day for it) Other than that, your plan sounds great! Keep in mind that the Storybook Boats don't always open with the rest of the park, depending on the time of year, so glance at the sign as you go by to see when they open.

Are you planning to do the Nemo submarine? That's another good one to hit as early as possible.

I agree with OP about Storybook - rarely open during MM. As for your plan looking a little different, I think that is because, as a general rule of thumb, we tend to leave any FP rides out of MM. BUt with PP down, you do have some extra time, so why not?

If you decide on the Nemo dash, bear in mind that it will soak up most of your MM time.

People do Fantasyland rides first because they are slow loaders. There are only so many Dumbo elephants and even with 1 minute for the ride and even if everyone ran and sat down immediately and everyone ran to get off at the end there still will only be 30 rides an hour with so many elephants. Peter Pan is very popular, not very scary, and thus has half hour to hour wait all day long.

I would do the Tomorrowland first while everyone is in Fantasyland then hop over to Fantasyland and get Dumbo and Toad out of the way. With any time left do the rest of Fantasyland. At about park opening head for Indy and get an FP then on to Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain and Pooh. That leaves only the canoes in that area which are not worth it. Pick up Pirates and Jungle Cruise and Big Thunder Railroad and get an FP if you can, then Indy. You are done except the island and the Mark Twain for later in the day.

I'm going to be different, and say that I would go on Toad and Alice first. Those lines get long, fast.

Snow White and Pinnochio don't really get long long lines, and especially since you're two adults, could even be gone on in the evening.

I would probably then go for Matterhorn.

To me, since Space and Buzz both have FPs, they just aren't as important as the others to do early.

Indy's not part of MM, but if you're all done with your MM rides before MM is done with, you could always go over as close to the entrance as they'll let you, so you could ride it or FP it at park opening before the crowds build over there.

But since Storybook is on your list, maybe that would be better to do as soon as you see it's open.


Then again, we do a lot of crisscrossing b/c I always forget my plans, LOL, so my ideas might not work for you.

Well, I think part of the reason you often don't see Space and Buzz first off on a MM plan, is that those are FastPass rides, so even if you didn't make it on during MM, you can pick up FPs for later. In my experience, though, they are both fast loaders, so you won't have a problem riding them during MM. I would do the Matterhorn first, maybe both sides.

So I guess I would bump those two rides to the end, and maybe do it:
Matterhorn (both sides) Alice, Toad, Snowie, Pinocchio, Space and Buzz. If you can't quite fit them all in, quit where you are, pick up a FP for the ride you didn't make it onto, and go over and get in line for the Canal boats right at regular opening. I think it's probably pretty do-able to get them all in, though!

Sounds like a fun trip. Wish I could go with just DH once! Have a great time!

Indiana Jones is never open for MM, and Storybookland is not open for MM, but it should open at normal park opening.

Occasionally you'll see Star Tours open, but I haven't heard of it being open for MM at all, lately-- anybody else noticed it? And, as stated before, Space and Buzz are FP rides-- and why use up your MM time on rides you can FP and ride without a wait later? You can use that time for those rides that have lines in the afternoon and evening. Really, you can do everything the OP wanted during MM, unless it's ridiculously busy, which I wouldn't expect for a Tuesday in May.

As a couple who doesn't have kids, DH and myself have two goals at DL, have fun and relax. What I gave the OP would allow that, to have fun and relax while getting in alot of rides and not having to crisscross the park. It's just the way we do things and we enjoy it. We also are just in love with Fantasyland at night and would rather save those things for the evening.

Maybe we're completly wrong and our touring plan wouldn't work for anyone else out there, but for us it's great and we never come away thinking that we've missed anything. I don't think our touring plan would ever work for people with kids.

When I say everything in Tomorrowland, I mean everything that is available except for Nemo. For DH and myself, we'll add on Matterhorn or other MM attractions after we finish what we want to in Tomorrowland, but that's just icing on the cake for us.

It's not new, but you may be confusing it with WDW where I am pretty sure that FP is offered during the morning EMHs. What avalon was trying to say about "everything in Tomorrowland" is that the only rides offered for MM in Tomorrowland are:

-Space
-Buzz
-Nemo

That's it. It is different at WDW though, where a more Tomorrowland attractions are open during morning EMHs.

Since you're an OCD planner....I'll toss out a couple of ideas too.

I agree with (i think) DLR 29, Avalon & Bumber. I'd knock 3-4 of the fantasyland rides first, then do Buzz & SM, then return to FL for Storybookland. Here's why:

- Alice & Toad are slow loaders & Matterhorn is a semi-slow loader & builds up crowds fast....best to do them early (first).
- I like to end up MM...AT SM at :00. So I can ride it at :50 then pick up the first FP at :00 (since I know I'll want to ride it again later).
- It's not a long walk between FL & TL (2-4 min.) & it's early...& uncrowded...for me it's an enjoyable stroll (with a purpose ).

So because of this (& because PP, Dumbo & the teacups aren't part of the plan), I'd do:

- Alice
- Matterhorn (first one side...then the other).
- Toady
(if before :25 after maybe Pinocchio...if after, i'd skip our little woodenhead for later & head to....)
- Buzz (why not ride it twice? Ask the CM before you get off (if he's there).
- SM (bathroom near picture area after exiting)
- at :00 pick up your first FP at SM.
- walk (with a purpose) past everyone rushing to Nemo & stroll onto Storybookland at :04.
