I am thinking about sneaking away with my hubby for a short kid-free trip over MLK weekend. What are crowds like, and what (if any) discounts are usually offered at that time of year?

We were in WDW over MLK weekend in '09. I didn't find the crowds to be that bad. I do remember lots of tour groups. The crowd level did go down as the week went on, but the weekend itself still wasn't too bad (comparable to what we experienced in October).

They offered the 4/3 deal (stay and play for four nights and get three free).

It's a good time to go....but it has been COLD in January for the last two years. We really wanted to escape the cold by going to Florida:lmao:

we went over MLK in '08 and '10. Both times the weather was great. We wore long sleeved t-shirts and didn't need jackets. However, the week before we got there it was freezing. During this time the crowds were small, we didn't wait more than 20 minutes for anything (but did take advantage of fast passes). The downside is that the parks close pretty early. We went to Universal Studios one day also, and the crowds were horrible! There were HUGE groups of teenagers from Brazil and other countries in giant tour groups. Actually, the big tour groups were at Disney too, but we managed to stay out of their way there (they traveled as a GIANT pack).

We have been on MLK weekend in 2008-2009 and 2010.

The touring groups were not a problem. There were there in 2009, but overall they were not that much of a nuisance.

Corwds tend to be a littler higher on teh Sunday b4 MLK day and on MLK day---but---it was still not "crowded"---very manageable wait times-

Not sure about discounts---we are DVC members---so the discounts done help us much.

As for weather, we have had some COLD days in 2009 and 2010. But, the crowds were so low, the weather did not bother us too much. When it was cold, we did looong lunches or relaxed at the resort. There is so much to do and see at WDW, that 50 degree weather isnot tht big of a deal to me---see some shows, try a restaurnat, etc...

Hope you guys have fun...
