MLK day dilema. . .

I know that the MLK crowd question was asked a few days ago, and I hate to beat a dead horse, but silly me - our trip has been planned for over a year now, and I JUST realized that we are going over MLK weekend. Not a big deal, as we will be there all week, and have nothing planned over the weekend, but here is my dilemma! - we have PS at Cinderella's castle for b-fast on MONDAY of all days! We are going w/ my best friend (our daughters are 4 - and VERY into the princesses!) and they will not have PH tix, so we can't even hop to another park if MK is crowded. We will only have one day at MK (actually, only one day at each park, so therein lies the problem!) I am in such a bad dilemma! Are the crowds going to be bad enough that we should
cancel the breakfast at the castle, and hit MK on Tues? Or stick it out so the girls can have their bfast with their idols? Oh, I am bemoaning my silly luck - I just knew that the crowds were lowest in Jan, so we went with it. I just can't believe I didn't even THINK of MLK day and the potential for heavy crowds. I saw somewhere that the schools are not out in Central FL that Monday, but on the FL public school website, it looks as if they are - anyone here know? I will feel a little better if schools are not out, but I am just thinking they probably are. Oh, if anyone could ease my poor hear and soul. . . .

This is our second year going over MLK weekend. MK is a zoo on Saturday by Monday things settle down I would not fret over it. Plan accordingly. There is no Spectro parade that day only on Sat and Wed. The "locals" last year were off from Friday thru Monday and by Monday the crowds were signicantly less. Go and Enjoy your princess breakfast and keep a look out for my lime green ribbon ;) .

Just one question...why no park hoppers??

I guess I was kind of hoping for that reply, as I know the girls would be really disappointed if we cancel the breakfast with Cinderella. (as I KNOW we would not get in to the castle at this late date!) I just would hate to have very long lines for the other stuff, where as the crowds would be down to nothing once everyone goes back to work/school. It is such a tough call! Since we did get PS for breakfast, though, I think we will stick with it.

And, to answer your question about no PH tix, our friends are only going to Disney 2 days (it's a $ thing) and with our 6 month old twins, we may only hit the parks 3 days, so we may just do the daily ticket thing. (BUMMER)

Anyway, I would tell you to look out for our orange string (since that is what we used last time) but DH just informed me we don't have any more, so who knows what color we will use this time! Just look out for about 9 people, one single stroller and our big ol' monstrosity of a twin stroller!! :jester:

Thank you again so much for your reply - it is getting wonderfully close!!!!

Shannon, you can buy 3 day park hoppers for the same $ as 1 park/ 1 day admissions.

We had cindy ressies this year on the friday after thanksgiving-one of the busiest days of the year, and we still had a fabulous time and rode almost every ride we wanted to. Just use fastpass judiciously and have a good time.

I can tell you that schools will be closed where we live. One of my friends (a teacher) and her family are going to Orlando (WDW & Universal) that weekend.

We are leaving the 23rd (school will be closed on Friday) for WDW. I'm hoping it won't be as crowded then.

I would say that it probably won't be bad in the morning, you'll be able to get a lot done. Don't cancel your ressies, at this point it's probably impossible to get another one.

Having a great time and enjoy the breakfast!:D

We're planning a trip over MLK day next year and have to travel home on Monday - I'm sure many people will have to use Monday as a travel day. Please post when you get back and let us know how crowded that week/weekend were. Enjoy!

happymom9802,
I'm hoping for light crowds as well. I'm the "poster" of the other MLK question. At this point, looking at the weather forcast, I'll take crowds if it means the weather is warm!! Even though MK is ee on Saturday, I'm sticking to going on Monday. We don't leave until Tuesday afternoon.

Have a great trip !! See you there....

;)

we have decided to keep our reservations and hope that most people who have made a weekend of it, will have to use Monday to travel. I still feel that it may be busy for January, but surely it won't be as busy as, say the middle of summer. (can you just hear the hope and optimisim in my post!?):smooth:

Anyway, we will have 2 very happy 4 year olds, and just hope for the best. Thanks again for your insights! I will let you all know how the crowds were.

counting down - only 3 days left!!!!!!:Pinkbounc

Hi everyone.
I was at WDW over MLK weekend a few years ago, and we will be there again this year. All I really noticed was Magic Kingdom being mobbed on that Saturday. We are going to hit MK at night Saturday to see Spectro. Then we wont go back until Monday or Tuesday. Crowds will be thinning out a lot by Monday. Everyone there for a long weekend will be heading home!! We leave this friday the 17th and staying until the 26th! I think you will be fine on Monday at MK.

seeWDW... you wrote that EE day at MAgic Kingom was Saturday.. Isnt it Sunday? or did they change it since Thanksgiving?? When we were there EMH ( extra magic hour) was SUnday for MK
