Just thought I would let everyone know who likes to fly Midwest -their Xmas and spring break flights have been released - we booked this AM!

Thanks
I just booked our Dec trip with Midwest and also saved another 10% off the $88.00 ecah way with a promo code

:thumbsup2

Yes, non-stop, that is why we jump on them as soon as they are available. We booked our round trip spring break tickets for $176.00 round trip, non-stop.

Just a warning that there is an extremely high likelihood that Midwest will not exist in the near future.

In bankruptcy, a ticket holder would be last in line for debtors, which means you'll never get your money back; and you might be able to do a chargeback, but most credit card companies only allow it for purchases in the last 60 days. And other airlines do not honor the tickets, either.

Just saying, those booking Midwest are taking a risk.

Please define "near future". It sounds like you know what you are talking about and are "in the know." Are we talking 60 days or a year, or what. Does trip insurance cover bankruptcy?

I'm not "in the know," but I follow the airline industry closely and Midwest is in huge trouble. They lost $447M in 2008, and have farmed out the majority of their flying.

Near future can be August, December or March.

The thing to realize is that they are in serious financial distress right now. I think it would be foolish to book Midwest when you can book another airline for less or not much more.

You will have to check the individual terms of your trip insurance policy with regards to being covered. The majority will not cover airline bankruptcy.

Well, here's hoping they hang on for at least another nine months! I don't see why TPG and Republic would sink more money into them if they were just going to file bankruptcy anyway - it seems like prolonging the inevitable and not very good business. But hey, I am not a business woman, I'm just a mom who wants to take her kids to Disney! I will keep my fingers crossed and look into some trip insurance!
