hello,

planning our trip to WDW in October. After studying the Dis for insights, i see now that the new seven dwarks rides is to mad dash at rope drop.

Back in 2009, our last visit, it was the Dumbo ride. Curious, where else is now the second ride that people swarm to first?

I think it depends if you have little kids or not. Since we have teens, we always dash straight to Space Mountain at Rope Drop, then we hit Fantasyland for Peter Pan, Pooh and Small World. We FP+ SDMT.

Last Tuesday I hit MK at RD and went straight to Pirates (one of the first people on) them around to Splash and BTMRR which were practically walk-ons. Splash was turning people away fr the FP line because posted standby was 5 minutes.

Since Dumbo is now double the capacity and away from the center of the park, I'm not sure it's the magnet it used to be.

If you got to SDMT first, it's likely the other lines will no longer be walk on (Peter Pan will not be for sure)...you will want to FP+ either Peter Pan or SDMT (or both depending on your touring plan) and hit the other one at rope drop (or hit whichever of your rides you don't have a FP+ for that see higher wait times like Splash, BTMRR, Space, etc).

PP and 7DMT are best to be done at RD or FP for later, as they will have long lines all day. The 3 Mtns. (Space, BTM, and Splash) are also busy, so you can pick which area you want to start in for RD, and then choose 3 other rides for your FPs. As PP mentioned, there are now two Dumbo rides side by side, so it is not the craze it used to be. If you have 2 days at MK during your trip, then you can plan to split the rides up, depending on what else you are doing that day(ADRs, parades, fireworks, character meets). When we make our FP, we always split our top rides, 3 each day, and then RD others, and see what we get to for the smaller rides. If you need to meet A&E, or other princesses, then you can add those as well to your RD/FP plan.
The other nice thing with the app is you can change FP during the day (depending on availability) so if you get PP done and have FP just in case, you can then change that to something else(like Buzz) that you didn't have one for. You can also get a 4th FP after you use your 3. And you can check wait times on the app, before you walk all the way across the park to a ride you want to go on.

I agree with this. Get a FP+ for 7DMT and/or Peter Pan for early in the afternoon if you can. Ride BTMRR, Splash, POTC, Jungle Cruise, and Space Mountain early in the morning when the waits are much shorter.

IMO, you could get a lot done in the morning if you hit Space Mountain at RD and then headed straight for Adventureland and Frontierland. We're a hour into park opening on a weekend and Space is already up to 50 minutes. However Jungle Cruise is 20, POTC and BTMRR are 15, and Splash is 10.
