MK until 2AM - worth it?

As long as we arrive before midnight, it only counts as a ticket for Saturday right? I don't have a ticket to use for Sunday.
If MK opens on Saturday morning but closes after midnight, that entire time is considered "Saturday." If you arrived after Midnight, during the EMH period from Midnight to 2am, you would have to be a Disney resort guest. If you weren't, you wouldn't be allowed admittance to MK. If you arrived before Midnight, but you weren't a Disney resort guest, you could stay for the EMH period but you wouldn't be allowed on any rides during EMH. The CMs at the rides would check people's MagicBands during EMH for their status as Disney resort guests.

I'm going to Epcot that day, but the prior Saturday we're doing MK EMH from 11-1 and I can't wait!

On Labor Day Weekend, Saturday Sept 5, MK is open until 12am, with EMH until 2am. This is the midpoint of our trip and we actually have a complete rest day scheduled the next day. Nothing but 530pm dinner.

I was going to go to Epcot and stay through illuminations on this day. Now I am considering AK, rest, and then head to MK for as long as the kids (15,12,9) are happy.

Any thoughts? Will MK just be too crowded to make this worth it? Are the late night EMH lines manageable?

IT is amazing and very habit forming. After Wishes there will be a max exit, not everyone but a huge chunk. My advise is to not be right on Main Street for Wishes. The later it gets the more people will leave. FL will be a ghost town from 1 to 2.

This will be something that your kiddos will remember forever.

No, no, don't tell everyone! :mic:

Late night EMH are our secret weapon. DH and I are unlikely to ever make a rope drop, but we've closed MK as late as 3am. We'll be there that night too. Best time of the day (night?) at MK...but keep it a secret so the non-DIS types don't find out!

TOTALLY worth it! In March we arrived at 10:30 pm until 2:30 am and we did all the major rides and some of the minor rides, and some twice. One the greatest perks of onsite stays.

DH and I would definitely do it...without kids (but ours are 6 and 4). If your kids are night owls anyhow, then I'd give it a shot with the understanding that if someone needs to give up early they can go back with one adult (or everyone can go back).

So what land should we start in after Wishes ? I bet everyone goes to Fantasyland?

Adventureland! It was so quiet after Wishes. One of my fondest memories is walking up to POTC after a quick snack during the second parade and it felt so fun and spooky to read "Dead Men Tell No Tales" late at night!

By the time we got to Fantasyland, there was no one there!

My kids are such night owls! But this is our plan. I love love love EMH at MK so Dad has agreed to take back any children who have given up before the end! lol

It will be our first time doing a 12:00 to 2:00am EMH this coming trip. How long would you sleep in on the day of?
I just know that it is next to impossible to get my kids or myself to nap. My husband is the only one that can easily pass out during the day. That is why the plan is to sleep in on pm EMH day. We will probably be at MK until almost midnight the previous night, so late to bed. I will let everyone sleep until 9:30am so that we have just enough time to make our 10am ADR at Ohana. (we are staying at the Poly)

I agree hit Adventureland - Jungle Cruise has a whole different vibe after dark. Should be essentially no line at the Carpets and if POTC is up (it is closed for refurb when we are there). From there work your way around to Frontierland (keep an eye on the clock if MSEP is running a second parade) for the Mountains.

If you are going to watch Wishes try and do this from the Adventureland side and save yourself from trying to cross the sea of bodies. As crowds decrease head to either FL or TL. We typically do FL last.

Does this mean that if I check out of my Disney hotel that morning, I'm no longer considered a resort guest and thus would not be able to ride the rides during EMH that evening?

When you check out, you are given resort guest status all day. At least, until midnight. You can park free at the theme parks (at least until midnight), use your dining credits (if any) until midnight, use your resort pool and other amenities.

But what about EMH that begins at midnight for checked-out Disney resort guests? What about theme park parking after midnight at a theme park with EMH that begins at midnight? Those are good questions. Hopefully someone else can post an answer.

Wow that would be early getting up after getting to sleep so late that night. Did you sleep in the morning before the EMH? That's what I'm trying to figure out if we should sleep late in order to be able to stay up until 2:00am.
Last October, we woke up at 6am, had a BBB appt at 8am in MK, stayed there until the end of MNSSHP, and went to bed close to 3am (after washing DD's hair and drying it). We were at DHS around 9:15/9:30. Those were days 8 and 9 of the trip, and our 2nd MNSSHP of the trip. It truly just depends on what you can handle.

You would still be eligible. Computers don't roll over until 6am or so, so you are good. They do say dining credits expire at midnight, though, so I wouldn't count on having those available.

The POTC will be closed when we go for refurb

It's totally worth it. We did it a few days before Easter in 2012 and it was SO MUCH FUN.

Don't I know it! I'm so sad. I was planning to relive my moment! My son's favorite ride is POTC so I prepared him early. I also got stuck on the ride that night for 20 mins. We got off and right back on. I still had time for lots of other rides and to meet Ariel at 12:59! AMAZING night!

Can/will your kids sleep in the next day???
Mine can't/won't.
If yours can....go for it!
