MK to Poly if we don't want to use monorail?

I know there is a resort boat that goes from MK to the Poly. I do not plan on taking the monorail (a bit claustrophobic and do not want to be stuck in it if it breaks down). If the resort boat is NOT running due to weather, what other way can I get to the Poly? We have a dinner adr on our MK day. Does the big ferry run if the weather is bad? Can I take a taxi?

The ferry is less affected by the weather than the small resort boats. I suppose there is always a chance that any form of transportation could be affected at some time for one reason or another but the ferry should be a pretty good option for you. When we stayed at the Poly we used all 3 free means of Disney transportation between it and the MK.

Thanks for your reply. Is there a bus that goes to the Poly from the MK?

There is no bus that goes from MK to Poly unless the monorail is down. If you truly want to avoid the monorail and the boats are docked, walk to the Contemporary and take a taxi.

If the weather gets really bad, the boats running between MK-GF-Poly may stop running. But the larger ferry, from the TTC to MK, seldom stops running. If it did, it would probably be due to heavy lightning. If that happens, the restaurants will know about it and you should still be able to be accommodated.

You can also take the Ferry to the TTC, then walk to the Poly, which is just next door.

Thanks for all the info. It looks like we will take the large ferry to the ttc and then walk to the poly. My "almost 80" mother will be with us. Is it a long walk? Thanks

depends upon where you are at Polyn

the Tahiti is the closest.

would get your mother a wheelchair - she will need one - think you can still get one for free at bell services.

Now getting to anyone at the Polyn is not a long walk - but the MK is definitely is a long walk to anywhere.

It's a fair walk. Off the ferry and stay to the right. Keep walking with the lake to the right, parking lot on your left. You will cross a small CM parking entrance and you'll see the path to the Polynesian. It's a lovely pathway. The walk will take about 10 mins.

If the resort launch is running, then take it, not the large ferry. The resort launch drops you off in front of the Great Ceremonial House where all the restaurants are. It's a five minute walk. We never take the monorail and always take the launch. It's a great service for all ages.

The chances of the launch not running are very low and even in weather it would only be a few minutes delay as the storm passes. Only think of the large ferry under extreme circumstances.

Depends on where you are going at the Poly. It took my family (two young-ish boys) 10-15 minutes to get from Hawaii to the TTC.
