We'll be hopping from MK to Epcot and I read a recent post about monorail between the two. Which would be the quickest way to go? Not interested in the most scenery this time.

There is only one way to get from the Magic Kingdom to Epcot via Disney transportation. You board the monorail at the MK. Take the express monorail if you don't want to stop at the MK resorts. Get off at the TTC and transfer to the Epcot monorail. If you take the express monorail you will have to go down one ramp to street level and back up the other ramp for the Epcot monorail. I believe if you take the resorts monorail you do not have to go down and up the ramps.

no buses from the MK to Epcot.

however there is a bus to Studios.

but I think you would still need to ride the monrail to get to the TTC to get this bus.

I don't think this bus stops at the resort bus place in MK (I could be very wrong here). then from studios you need to ride the boat to Epcot.

so riding the monrail to Epcot is still the best method. unless

We wanted to go from the MK to AK in June. We could not find anything but resort buses from the MK bus terminal so we walked over to the Contemporary and caught a bus from there. It's about a ten minute walk. You can also take the monorail over to any of the MK resorts and take a bus to the AK or the Studios from there.

So there is no bus? OK, so we have to take the monorail. What about AK to MK? Is there a bus?

The busses to MGM and AK from the MK actually stop at the TTC. So you would need to take the boat/monorail to the TTc and then take the AK or MGM bus.

You could walk over to the CR to catch an AK or MGM bus. HOWEVER, depending on the time of day, going to AK from any of the resorts will also mean stopping at BB first.

An above poster mentioned having to go down the ramp and back up another if you go to the EPCOT express monorail, as opposed to walking across the ramp if you take the resorts monorail. This may be true, but that resorts monorail has to go through CR before it gets to the TTC. I have waited 15 minutes a couple of times at the CR waiting for one train to get through so we could move on. I'd take the ferry or MK direct monorail from MK over to the TTC, then get on the direct EPCOT monorail from there. Yes, you might have to go up an extra ramp, but this would be quicker than waiting on that resort monorail to make its way through CR.

Actually, the other poster got it twisted

The Express Monorail shares a platform with the Epcot monorail at the TTC so all you have to do is walk across the platform.

Another way would be to take a BW or BC/YC bus and walk from there. But if you do this you go in through the back gate in the World Showcase.

As a related question, does the bus from the Studios to MK go to the TTC or to the resort drop off? The reason I ask is one time we were at the Studios and went to take the MK bus, but the line was very long. Long enough that it looked like two busloads of passengers waiting. But the Contemp had none on line so we took that one.

How long does it generally take to get from MK to epcot? We're considering doing this for dinner.

I'd allow at least 45 minutes. Fifteen to the TTC, 15 more to monorail from TTC to Epcot and then getting through security and walking to the restaurant.

As someone said, the ferry is another option for getting to the TTC from the MK.

The TTC is the hub of transportation for MK to the other parks. If you just think of it that way, it might be less confusing. :sunny:

I would guess probably about 30-45 min at least. Most of that will be for you getting from MK to TTC and waiting for a monorail if one isn't alreay there, then walking through to the place you want to eat.
