Just a quick question, I read a post about someone staying at MK til 3:00 am. We will be there next week and am wondering how I find out if there is a night that will go that late. Thanks.
On very busy days the MK might have regular hours that go until midnight. If that day also happens to be an Extra Magic Hours (EMH - for WDW resort guests only, btw) evening at the MK, then the park would stay open an extra 3 hours for the WDW resort guests.
This does not happen very often.
Next week, Wednesday May 4th is EMH night at the MK. The normal hours end at 9pm and resort guests can then stay in the park from 9-midnight, but not 3am.
Then you can check here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours.htm for the actual hours which parks are opened. The EMH are in either orange (early morning: add 1 hour ealier to this time) or green (late night: add 3 hours later for this time.)
I don't see the MK staying opening until midnight at all during the next couple months though.10 pm seems to be the latest but that still keeps ya in the park until 1am!
My DS and I stayed in the MK until 3am while we were there over spring break 2005. I will never forget it. We had the best time. If you get the chance to enjoy the park that late (early) jump on it! You must be a resort guest and they do check. You have to get a special braclet to wear to get on the rides when the magic hours begin. Stations to get the braclet's can be found throughout the park.
My family was up at 3am last weekend due to a Grad night that went until 4am. Of course, we were trying to sleep, but our room at the Contemporary rocked on.
I remember the threads about that. It just so happened that the week of Easter, the MK was open every night until midnight. As Baloo mentioned EMH in the evening can extend the park closing up to 3 hours for resort guests. The MK did indeed stay open until 3am on one of these nights and many reported back that they had a great time. You probably won't see that again for a while though.
I was there until 3:00 a.m. during spring break this year also. I have 2 things to add:
1.) I am not as young as I used to be
2.) I was not willing to go back into any park before Friday afternoon (emh was on a Wed)
With those 2 things said, would I do it again, say in June/July this year if they offer those hours again? In a heartbeat! I had the best time with my kids!
I was dissapointed when I saw the upcoming June hours compared to the Spring Break hours. It's going to seem way too early leaving the park at 10pm or even 1am with the EMH. I love the magic kingdom at night, it's very magical.
