Does anyone remember the preview/trailer that used to play on the WDW resort tv station in the early 80's. It featured a female guide who guided viewers through the various attractions of the day. There was a theme song at the end, that went something like this:

"Where can you go to get a holiday dream that you dream the whole year through, where can the older folks and the younger folks together share a happy time ... Walt Disney World, Disney World is a brighter day, American applie pie will always stay ..."

Do any of you fellow DVCers remember this one? Does anyone know if it is possible to get a video of the old trailer, or an audio recording of this old theme song. My family members would die if I could surprise them with either.

Many thanks.::MickeyMo

sorry, it does not ring a bell with me, although in the 80's on the few occasions we were able to go to Disney we stayed off site :-) Quite a change from always at the Poly lagoon view and seeing the castle every morning

I think you are going to have to scour the WDW archives for this one. I'm thinking that the best chance is that it might be on an old album. Try doing some internet searches for WDW music discographys etc.. to see what you can find and then if you're lucky enough to find it look on ebay etc...

Or you can contact Disney through this link and see if they can give you any help?

Good luck!

Perhaps if I move this to our community board, someone can answer your question. It's worth a try, anyway :)

I remember it well......seeing/hearing it on the "WDW Information Channel" on our television at the Polynesian Village in the late 70s and early 80s. I even wrote down the words back then so I'd remember it, and added guitar chords so I could play it -- back in the days when I played. It was one of those simple "G, C, D" songs. Unfortunately, I've never heard it or seen it on any album or video for purchase. And, I just searched my house and can't find what I wrote-down anywhere. From what I recall, it went something like this:

"Where in the world can you go have fun and enjoy the day?
Where in the world is there laughter in a simple smile?
Where can you find a childhood dream you can dream the whole year through?
Where can the older folks and the younger folks,
together share a happy song?
At Disney World, Disney World, it's a brighter day.
American apple pie will always stay.
(hm hm hm hm, hm hm hm hm)
balloons and a big parade..............
It's a brighter dayyyyy, a brand new worrrrrrld,
At Disney World, Disney World,
Walt Disney World, Disney World,
Walt Disney World, Disney World,
Walt Disney Worrrrrrrrrrlllld."

I wish I could find it because I probably have a word or two remembered wrong......and, for the life of me, I can't remember the line after the "Apple Pie" line. Hopefully, someone else will chime in to help finish the song.

On a similar note, I did find something else I completely forgot I had. It's the sheet music to the original song from the (GE) Carousel of Progress.....titled, "The Best Time Of Your Life" by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman (written in 1973, Wonderland Music Co, Inc., Distributed by "BIG 3").:cool1:

Thanks for your response. Hopefully, there are some others out there who remember this song.

A year or so ago I posted this original message. Still searching. Wondering if anyone can help at this time.

Thank you Sev34 and Parrothd! For years, I've been scouring the web for any mention (at least) of this song, as well as the river country banjo jam [the splish-splashingest!] that appeared in that same WDW guest services video!!! So far no luck, but just hearing the two of you has fueled me to continue my search...

In exchange, I can only offer Parrothd the missing verse to his song, plus my recollection of the 3rd line, which in my mind plays differently (providing the rhyme between long-song, which makes me think it might be closer?)... at any rate, this is what I've got!
