Hi.

We will be in Disney from September 6-14. We have APs and I want to eat in MK since I haven't eaten there in quite some time (and want to use our APs to get in LOL)

It will be my mom and me and we aren't very adventurous, we like a relaxing meal with wine, a margarita or beer. We ate a few years ago at BoG, where we were seated in the big, loud first room and it was very underwhelming for me (and my dd use to love the movie so I'm aware of the theme).

Right now, we have Jungle Skipper Canteen since we have never tried before, but hoping the menu will be okay since my mother can't eat anything spicy. If I know she can order a meal without being spicy, I will keep it if not, I really want to find another restaurant where we can sit, relax and enjoy a drink or three LOL

To give you an idea of where we are dining in September (we are staying at GFVs):

*Grand Floridian Cafe
*Chefs de France
*California Grill Brunch (although we also eat at CG in the past)
*Illuminations Dinner at Rose and Crown
*Jungle Skipper Canteen
*Brown Derby (but may change this out since may not go to MGM any longer with SW)
*Nomad Lounge for drinks and apps in AK (my dd and I found this place in January and I
LOVED it)
*Narcossi

Thank you.

How about upstairs at Colombia Harbour House?
Never eaten there but it gets a lot of love from many and I recently saw pictures taken by a poster of the view of Rapunzel's tower from there. Looked quite nice.

We rarely eat within MK and generally depend on the nearby resort hotels. Our new find is Geyser Point located a short boat ride away @ WL. Nice menu, beautiful views, and quite peaceful.

Thank you. While we enjoy Colombia Harbour House for lunch, we don't want to do a QS for dinner and I want to be able to sit and relax with a drink.

Most recent trips have just been my older sister and I and I am not an adventurous eater.
At MK I'd suggest Navigation Co. Skipper's Canteen. Don't let names of menu items scare you away. Read the descriptions.
Its a very relaxing atmosphere and when I've gone I've seen mostly adults.
I'd also recommend The Plaza Restaurant.
If you're willing to leave MK I'd go to The Wave at the Contemporary.

Quiet and relaxation is definitely hard to come by if dining in Magic Kingdom is a must for the two of you. I would keep Skipper Canteen, that might be your best bet, but if you'd prefer something different, have you looked into the Plaza Restaurant? It's probably the smallest dining room in MK, and they do serve beer and wine. The menu is mostly burgers and sandwiches, but they have really great ice cream!

If you really want a quiet and relaxing meal, can I recommend spending the day at Magic Kingdom, walking to the Contemporary Resort, and having dinner at the Wave? Much quieter, far more relaxing, much more to drink, and I have a feeling they won't try to rush you out of there like the Plaza might.

Thank you both very much and happy that Queen of the WDW has also eaten at Skipper and not too adventurous.

We will be staying at GF and really wanted to eat dinner in the MK, why I don't know, but because we never do and just doing different things and have our APs.
My mom, dd and I just ate at the Wave in January and I really want to go to the MK to eat so we will keep Skippers.

Thank you all so much!

Sorry I misunderstood some of your wants:). So you are looking for a non QS dinner that's peaceful, non spicy food, with drinks available.

When we stayed at GF over the December holidays we noticed Mizner's Lounge. Mostly adults enjoying liquid libations and small plates. Definitely quiet with flattering lights.

Another vote for the Wave. It's rarely crowded and focuses mainly on their version of American food.

ETA: just noticed you completed your last post before me and glad you found somewhere that makes you happy.

Yes, thank you. I enjoy Mizners for a drink as well as the Wave. I want to eat in the Magic Kingdom that is not counter service.
I am keeping my Skipper ressie and now more happy about it LOL

From one New Yorker to another, enjoy the weather today, even though not sunny!

Heh! I hear you. Did my morning walk and swim earlier thank goodness because now I'm looking out the window and despite seeing the local farmers' market in full swing the sky is keeping me indoors. Not helping that Hitchcock's "Suspicion" is on TCM right now...oops!

I also am not a huge fan of the "exotic" food at Skipper's Canteen. They do have simple options there! My sister always orders the steak and we usually order the dumpling appetizer and the noodle salad appetizer. Both are relatively plain in our opinion.
If you don't mind venturing outside of MK, I would recommend The Wave at The Contemporary. I haven't been there in ages, but it's a relatively relaxed, more "adult-friendly" meal with plenty of options. If all else fails, I would speak to your server and let them know you guys aren't spice fans. Whenever my family goes out to eat at Disney, the chefs are usually very accommodating.

My mom and I ate at Skipper’s Canteen at the end of January, she doesn’t do spicy and was able to find something with no trouble. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and felt very relaxed. Both our meals were really good!

Skipper Canteen was pretty good; we ate there Sep 2017. I do think some of the tables are too close to each other. We were near the kitchen as a party of two but a table for 4 was right next to us with a pole being the only thing that separated the space. Unfortunately the table next to us was very chatty drowning out much of our ability to have a working conversation. If I went again I would try to ask if I can be seated somewhere different and I would consider it again :)

I won't post a pic of the food my husband had because it's no longer on the menu but I had the Tastes like Chicken item:

The description was "Crispy Fried Chicken with Citrus and Ginger-scented Rice, Chili Glaze, and Seasonal Vegetables" the ginger-scented rice I found to be very yummy and the chili glaze was quite good too. It wasn't too spicy IMO.

We also shared the Kungaloosh- description was-"An African-inspired Chocolate Cake with Caramelized Bananas served with Cashew-Caramel Ice Cream topped with Coffee Dust":

While the dessert was good we didn't really think it was worth $8 but that's us. That doesn't mean one of the other desserts on the menu (also priced at $8) aren't worth it.

If you haven't already take a look at the menu of Skipper Canteen on Disney's website: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/magic-kingdom/jungle-navigation-skipper-canteen/menus/ The menu has some options for all IMO.

Surprised to hear you say you are not adventurous.
you some very good choices and i wouldn't consider them bland. Love Skipper Canteen, California Grill and Chef de France.
Haven't tried it again (since the new chef), but the reviews of Tonys have been much better and they serve wine.

I also think that Skippers sounds more adventurous than it is. I do not find it very relaxing though. I think that if I was looking for a relaxingish meal in the MK I would consider Tony's. I know it is busy but I think it is a more relaxing than some of the other TS restaurants in MK.

For MK, the only two restaurants that check the "relaxing" and "not too adventurous" at all are definitely Skipper Canteen and probably Tony's. Tony's would be higher on the "not too adventurous scale" and Skipper Canteen higher on the "relaxing" scale. For both, where you get seated is going to influence the ability to have a relaxing dinner. I would almost throw Plaza in there, but the tables are just too close together for any guarantee of relaxing.

We thoroughly love the atmosphere at Skippers. Very relaxing.

I don't care for the menu at Skipper's-- I haven't actually tried it because it sounds too exotic for me and there isn't anything that would appeal to my boys. I would suggest either Tony's or LTT.
