Just wanted to give you guys a heads up if you have planned an MK Photo shoot for this time you should have already been notified. For those of you who are thinking about it, this is something to consider. I did lengthen the time, b/c it is dependant on weather!

Hello!

As the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" comes to a close, the Magic Kingdom will begin transforming Cinderella Castle for our new celebration - Disney’s “Year of a Million Dreams.” We have just received confirmation that between September 10th and December 19th, a crane, scaffolding and construction wall will be located behind Cinderella Castle to facilitate the work. The crane will be in the down position during the Magic Kingdom's operating hours but will be up during the time frame that our Disney Event Group photographers will be conduct their Magic Kingdom Bridal Portrait Sessions. These dates are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Our Disney Event Group Photography staff will be able to digitally remove the crane and scaffolding from one of each of the five poses taken in front of Cinderella Castle at no additional charge or you will be given the option of rescheduling your Magic Kingdom Portrait Session within (2) two years or moving to another Theme Park or Disney Resort Hotel.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Please feel free to contact Karen Chandler at karen.b.chandler@disney.com with Disney Event Group Photography with any additional questions or to reschedule your portrait session. You may also contact your Wedding Event Planner for assistance.

We look forward to see you for your fairy tale celebration!

We had the same email when the decorations went up! We didnt find we had much of a problem at all. Good of them to let people know though.

My shoot is scheduled for the 8th December.

I have spoken to DP and they have said that the majority of my shots the crane shouldnt be visable at all - they try and work out the angles so that the crane is hidden behind the castle etc.

I got the same email. This is a standard email they have sent out to everyone and obviously it depends on when your dates are to the work that is being done.
I wouldn't exactly call it "nice of them to let you know"!!! as far as I can make out from Karen during our time they will be also painting the castle and this work is going on all around the castle not just behind the castle as that email states. So they aren't exactly being truthful with that statement, I think they are encouraging brides to re-schedule or take another location like Epcot.

Not what I had in mind!!!

You sound cross honey.

Really I was in a panic when it happened to me, but honestly, when you have your pics done, you'll never know. :)

Just a reminder that the Disney photographers are very good and they do a very good job of digitally removing things from your photographs. For our MK shoot (link in sig) the lighting scaffolding for grad nights was in place. I was very hesitant to spend the money for the MK photo shoot and in fact cancelled it about a month before our vow renewal. The more I thought about it, the more I realized this would be my only chance to get my DH in his dress blues and me in my dress into the MK and have photographs taken. When we got to Disney, I called Rosie and was able to reschedule for the same date and time. The scaffolding was huge and ugly, yet you can't see any of it in our photographs. I'm glad we did the MK shoot--it was worth the money and was a once in a lifetime chance!

I totally agree, they were working on the big stained glass window the morning we were there and there was a truck parked under the archway. You'd never know it in the photos.

Penlanslpice - is this making you feel any happier about the situation?

To be honest NO.
I'm not angry at the situation but really upset, I am totally gutted in fact. After spending $800 I don't think it's appropriate to photo shop pictures. I understand others have has similar experiences and there photos have turned out good, but mine would have to have the whole castle photo shopped by the sounds of it. I may as well be somewhere else and save myself $800 to do that.
Sorry I'm ranting!! Yes i'm having my first bridezilla and I only have 6 weeks to go, not bad!!

Hey Sam! Sorry about the shoot, knew ud be worried over the painting!

Wasnt your first Bridezilla over the cake ;)

Jonette please correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't I read in one of your posts that you have up to a year from your wedding to do your MK PhotoShoot? :confused3

If this is indeed the case, then if the "photoshopping" causes you this much distress, schedule it within a year, come back and do it when there is no construction on the castle. What a wonderful excuse to schedule another trip to the World. :grouphug:

No offense, but someone posted this earlier and we had some other folks getting their nickers in a twist. People RELAX. Why can't some just go with the flow? :confused3 Disney does weddings day in and day out and they'll accomodate you the best way that they can. I've never had a cross word to say on the weddings board, but sometimes people need to make decisions on their own. If the revamp of the castle happens during the time you are scheduled Disney will let YOU know and you can decide if you want the shoot or not. If you do they will do a wonderful job of photoshopping the cranes and other items out. I've spoken to a few different people from DFTW and it really ticks the staff off when they see that these announcements are all over the boards because they get irate brides calling non-stop when the remodel doesn't even affect them.

Mommy Poppins and Briarrosegold- Yes, well, you made *me* feel better about it. However, we're doing the Honeymoon session, so it's a little less catastrophic. :sunny: I was really upset at first, then I decided- what the heck. I'm going to do it. So, we're on for Sunday Sept 17 at 11 am. I'm sure Disney isn't going to have crappy photos of the Castle floating around!! :thumbsup2

Im so glad sweetie. :)

To be honest they do not do all of the castle all at one time. They may be working on sections at a time. Towards the end of the shoot they are taking away the construction ready for park opening - especially if its EMH day. Sometimes they do not even have to photoshop the shot they just angle the shot appropriately.

Sajetto - as always you speak from the heart, never a truer word spoken honey.

You are right that usually get get one year in which to take these photos. Due to the circumstances, they are giving everyone scheduled during this time 2 years.

Not sure about anyone else but for me personally this really isnt an option! Coming from England an extra trip is going to cost loads! At the cheapest Airfair is going to cost atleast $1200 plus hotel accomodation etc etc - id be looking at atleast $2000 to reschedule. But not point stressing about it - cant change it, im just going to wait and see what happens!

Dont get me wrong im not irate - BUT Disney have told me they will only photoshop one of out each of the 5 shots taken of the outside of the castle - any extras we have to pay for! think they said like $60 an hour :sad2: . Its not that im being awkward its just hard when like i said to reschedule it would cost me over $2000 to come back another time. Its not like i can just pop back being a 9 hour flight away - although if i could afford another visit it would be the perfect way for blackmail Gary into booking another trip!!!

Hi :) this totally affects me and my fiance and we too are upset about it! I'm glad that you are able to see the silver lining and let it roll off your back, but for those of us who it directly impacts (and I don't know off the top of my head if it does impact you) and who have dreamed and planned for these photos I think it's quite ok to post about it and vent as much as necessary. It's great to hear from those who experienced it the first time around, hopefully it makes people feel better.

Yes, the DIS is a public board, but as I see it Jonette is a moderator and was simply providing information that brides planning weddings at Disney over the next few months need to be aware of. That's part of being a moderator :) For some of us we've known about it longer than it's been posted - screamscape leaked it first and it hit the DIS Theme Parks board before weddings - and now that the information is public and out there I welcome the conversation.

 I will appologize if I offended anyone. That was certainly not my intent. I only offered the extra time suggestion as just that. A suggestion.

I understand the saving up for a trip. We have to do it for every trip. I was just trying to offer up an alternative. I understand not wanting to spend the money and then your photos have to be digitally "doctored" tolook normal.

I must agree with another poster that I don't think Disney would let there be any bad castle photos with the Disney name on them run around in public.

Again, I'm sorry and I hope all here get their issues with the castle worked out. :grouphug:

Not offended me sweetie! :goodvibes

Although i have to say personally im not really concerned about the crane or actually the scaffolding - im more concerned that when i asked what the plan was for the castle - ie are they going back to the traditional castle look they said they had no idea yet!

Birthday cake anyone :rotfl:

Until I found this site and saw your wonderful photos, marc & me thought our package would be shot during daylight hours like the promos on the website. :jester:
Think we will still try and arrange the photoshoot as for us it will be a once in a lifetime experience. I think we can live with a bit of editing to have images as nice as the ones we have seen on here and besides its the carousel shots that really sold us on the idea.
