MK Photo Shoots Moving Back to 6:30 a.m.

Oh my goodness, there is absolutely NO WAY anyone will be speaking to me like that! Thank you for preparing me for the "Who the hell do you think you are talking to?" conversation... Very un-Disney, I am shocked.

Hello all,

Karen got back to me with this:

Hi Lisa,

Due to a change in Park opening hours, we need to move all Magic Kingdom Bridal Portraits to a 6:15am pickup and a 6:30-7:30am session. If you are at Animal Kingdom, All Star Resorts or Coronado Springs, your pickup time would be 6:00am. Remember to notify your cosmetologist if you have one scheduled.

We also need to mention that there may still be a change if the Park opens earlier on your day. We may also schedule 2 sessions at the same time. The photographers start in different locations and the couples do not see each other.

The coordinators will be reaching out to everyone to ensure they are still interested but if you know you who your coordinator is I would contact them...

I emailed Dara and it turns out we have been switched to 6.30am too. I nearly cancelled a few months ago as I wasn't happy about the 7.30am time - so glad I didn't. I must admit, Dara was very polite in her email and she replied straightaway - maybe this is the best way of contacting her! :thumbsup2

Ugh I really, really can't decide if I want to keep this shoot or drop it. I was really upset when the time moved to 730, and my planner was pretty dismissive of my concerns. I emailed her yesterday to see if I'm now moving back and she basically said she will look into it but *if* I'm changing back, Disney Photography will notify me. Well, I see at least one person on here getting married AFTER me that has already been notified. So when exactly am I supposed to receive this phone call?

I'm also not thrilled about more than one bride getting the park at once. What if the other bride and I both want the same areas to be dark photos? I know I wanted the carousel and the castle. Seems like sometimes this would work and sometimes you would not end up with the pictures you wanted. Between the cost of the shoot, hair and makeup, floral refresh, and the CD... this is a pretty decent chunk of change.

I don't know. So far I have to say, I haven't exactly been wowed by this whole process. I honestly expected more from Disney. With this shoot, and just the whole wedding planning process in general.

I know it doesn't help, but I agree with you 10000%. So far I've been less than impressed by the "fairy tale". :sad2:

So I got in touch with my contact and we are moved back to 6:30 too! So excited! I was really thinking about cancelling the shoot since I wanted the night time shots!

Yep. I'd had the shoot booked since last year (my wedding is in 3 weeks). They moved me to 7:30 sometime in I think January...then I was on the fence about the MK shoot since we wouldn't get night shots anymore. When it came time for our final payment (last week), I let the MK shoot go. :sad1:

I wouldn't have if I had know they were going back to 6:30!!!!

I'm so sorry. Is there definitely no availability whilst you're there?

I know it may not look great now but at least you've got the option to do the shoot at a later date. Looking back I think it would be a lovely option for an anniversary.

I have my fingers crossed something comes up for you.

i'm not dismissing the entire "fairy tale" because, when all is said and done, it WILL be amazing and lovely.

however, i agree that it is both interesting and frustrating to have information come out in such odd ways and not consistently. it kind of feeds the "monster" that our lovely disboards can be! yet, disney also knows these boards and others exist and yet, for whatever reasons, disney still doesn't or cant grab the reins and be proactive about information etc... and it seems like the entire DFTW department keeps ramping up in what they attempt to provide and it makes me somewhat glad we've already been "through" it, as it seems that as things continue to expand, if tthe ground level cast members don't have the support and power they need to do the job we all expect them to do, well, there will be more rumblings from their target customers - us!

i agree that information must be managed appropriately and i don't beleive that some people getting info before others or what not makes sense! nothing can be done instantaneously of course, but our shoot was among the first wave of them being moved, but we learned of that here and still it took a bit before our planner or DFAP got back to us - although our inquiry to photography got us an answer before it appeared our then planner had (or was sharing).

i do not think that any of these issues are any kind of evil conspiracy or plot - although sometimes i wonder if the cast members think thats what we think!! i think, generally, most everyone is trying to do a great job and they deal with people at a very significant and charged rite of passage! i couldn't deal with what i am sure they all do!

yet, and i totally empathize with the photography and planning teams, all this back and forth, some of which cannot be avoided of course, well, the way it is handled makes it worse. i mean, they all know about and visit these boards, and yet the machine can't seem to get ahead of the wave. sigh....

i really wouldn't stress about two brides being in the MK at the same time at all! trust me, worry more about all the people going to cinderellas breakfast! and actually, don't worry about that too too much wither. again, there were lots of people around during our 730 MK shoot. we have barely a picture that i could detect anyone in it but us - and even then, the ONLY reason that concerned me was because that was the ONE picture i am enlarging to gigantic size for the wall!

really the photographers do a great job in that way. and i know all of this is frustrating - but all in all, i really feel happy that we did the shoot, despite some of the - in hindsight - less important dissapointments involved with the shoot (changing of times, not being able to work the logistics of a second park, not having that short but much anticipated "all alone in the park" experience). if the idea of the pictures interest you, really, i would encourgae you to do the shoot. i know lots of things can change about why someone could or couldn't do the shoot if the time change happens late in the game and i won't even attempt to go into (again) my HUGE problems with what does and doesn't count towards your minimum and the way disney tries to incentivise the use of their photgraphers....

ok. back to your regularly scheduled message boards.

So, we booked our MK shoot for November, when the pickings were slim. (We got a week exactly after our wedding...) DF isn't too keen on staying in Disney a whole extra week just waiting for the shoot...so do you all think it is worth trying to call DFAP again to see if the second slots on a closer day would be worth it/available? Do you think they'll keep it this way? I'm just really worried that if I scrap the day we're booked for and then change it to a day where there's 2 couples in the park...that something will change and we'll loose our spot. :confused3

We booked or MK / Epcot Shoot this week for our wedding next February, and we have been booked in for 6:30, but were told that this may change to 7:30 closer to the time. So it would seem that nothing is still set in stone.

Anyone else get bumped? I got bumped to Nov 10th from the 7th which is OK but I am wondering how everyone else did...MK is doing so much construction that month they are having trouble fitting in everyone's requests for MK shoots!!!

They cancelled 2 weeks worth of shoots in October/November. There is another thread about it on the main page.

Lurker turned member here. They also moved my shoot - I was scheduled during the time frame that everyone is having issues in for late October/Early November.

We decided to move our photo shoot to Epcot, so all hope is not lost for us.

Our shoot will be very early the day of our wedding. Luckily.

we booked our october shoot a couple months back and were given a 6.30 slot, not mention of a 7.30 one.

Our shoot is a few weeks before all the cancellations but having read this thread and the other one I'm concerned about lack of communication.

Thinking about the two shoots at the same time thing, this seems to me like they're all about the money! Perhaps they should concentrate of giving good customer service to exsisting customers?

As for the rude phone conversations, that isn't on. That doesn't show the professional manner in which these situations need. I'd get sacked if I spoke to a customer like that and thats a supermarket, not a company who 'spreads magic'

I feel for all you brides that are going through this, I really do. Fingers crossed you all get it resolved and that you are happy with the result. x

Wow our weddings are SO close I am getting married on Disney's Castaway Cay though, wedding on November 1, 2011!

I never thought to switch to one of the other parks good looking out!

It can be discouraging, I hear you! Maybe ask for another person to speak with? I have found Karen to be very reasonable!
