MK photo shoot let-down

I'm doing an escape in may 13.... Does any have the pricing for a MK shoot?

Will you be using Disney as your wedding photographer? They have a rule where if you don't, you can't book the MK shoot until 45 days before. They weren't forthcoming with this information with us at first (after we had booked our outside photographers).

I didn't think you were allowed to use an outside photographer. I thought if you are doing anything within the actual parks, you need a Disney photographer...

Hmmm, interesting considering I'm not the biggest fan of some of Disney's photography...but I don't think it's worth the risk to wait that long. They did NOT mention this to me, so thank you for bringing it up.

I think I'd just have more piece of mind knowing it's booked no matter what, and take a gamble on the photos.

What ended up happening with you? Did you end up getting to book the day you wanted or have to switch photographers? Or did it all work out in the end?

This is true. You *have* to use Disney if it's the park. I think they meant if you were using an outside photographer for the rest of your evens, assuming they may be out of the park. If this is the case, the rule is 45 days out before you can book.

Ooh ok I get it!

So even if we just used an outside photographer for the ceremony, that would mean we still couldn't book our MK Shoot until 45 days before. Yikes!

Our reception will be in Epcot though, so I will pretty much need to use Disney for everything.

It's really a shame they push so hard to make you use their photographers but are so inconsistent with quality.

They weren't forthcoming with this info to us either. They told me when I called Disney photography right after we sent in our contract and check. When I found out I wanted to switch to Disney photography... But I couldn't justify the cost (were getting double the time at half the cost with Randy), and I couldn't justify nor knowing what my photos would be like with a Disney photographer because even if you request a certain one there is absoultly no guarantee. We are still planing on doing a MK shoot with their 45 day rule. Since we only live 2 hours away we can be somewhat flexible and it gives me a reason to go back and dress up in my dress again. We are aiming for late January or February to head back to do MK shoot.

If you live so close to Disney, it's absolutely a good plan to go with the 45 day rule. You can make it work on so many levels. With us, there is a very limited window...Canada is about as far away as you can get from Florida.

Decisions, decisions, decisions...who know wedding planning would involve so many of them!

With the 45 day out rule and to book sooner you have to use DPS, do you have to use for the ceremony and reception or could you just use for one and get the smallest package? Or just use them on the day for DP, still using them just not for the main part.

Or can you use Disney Videography for ceremony and still book earlier or does it have to be photos?

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that you had to use Disney for all photography to get rid of the 45 day rule.

I just got off the phone with Disney Fine Arts Photography. First of all, they are NOT nice and amazing like all of the other Disney employees I've ever talked to on the phone. Second, apparently you cannot have a MK shoot between August and January. So, apparently we can come back and do it at another time. I'm pretty bummed out about the whole thing. They said I could still do Epcot, so I'll probably be doing that one.

I've been dealing with them for 7 months. They definitely don't have the disney attitude in that department!!!

Sorry but you keep posting complaints Dizzrasi without giving examples. You only have 5 posts on the board and not one of the complaints I've read say anything specific. I'm just not finding it helpful it may actually help someone if you explain what happened so others can avoid having it happen to them.

I think the extended blackout period is related to the Fantasyland expansion, so keep a close eye on that construction. If an MK shoot is not avalible during your wedding, though, you can schedule one any time before your one year anniversary.

Random question... as a photographer, I have a friend who is thinking about getting married at Disney and since I'd be attending the wedding anyways, she's asked if I could photograph it. But parts will be inside of the parks. If it's a guest at the wedding and no transaction is taking place, do they allow this?

This is a very, very tricky spot. Technically, no, this is not allowed for the portions inside the park. You are allowed to hire your own photographer for outside the park events, and they will not stop you from photographing the event as a guest. However, if you are viewed as the "offical" photographer for the event, they will likely not allow you to photograph the in-park portion. If you are just a guest and they have hired an additional photographer, then I see it being okay. Just don't start organzing posed photos with the wedding party or anything like that.
