I am not much of a parade person but my DW is. What tips/tricks/advice do you have regarding catching the MK parades? Also, is up on the railroad station at the beginning of Main Street a good place to view the parade? Thanks.

My one piece of advice is to view the parade from Main Street. Try to be on the left side as you face the castle because that side is in the shade. Grab an icy cold beverage and a snack ahead of time because you will not be able to cross the street during the parade.

IMO the railroad station is not the best viewing spot if you you really want to see the details in the floats.

I like the area near the Diamond Horseshoe for parades during the parties. It's typically less crowded.

I recommend a spot near where the parade starts - to the left of Tiana's Bayou Adventure. I like that spot because after the last float goes by you can hop on Big Thunder (possible with a shorter wait). You can be on the move to an attraction before guests who are waiting for the parade on Main St.

Pay attention to the scheduled time of the parade. It's at 2:00 for most of August.

Last year I watched the parade at the hub. The path that enters the hub from tomorrowland, I turned left sat on the curb. It was a great view. I got photos of the floats head on with the castle in the background.

If you plan to watch multiple parades, pick different places.

How early are you standing in your chosen spot for a 2pm parade?

In August last year, I walked over to the parade when I heard the music coming, so no wait really. But I don't think I recommend doing that if you really want to see the parade. I don't have little kids or a stroller kid, so I don't need the curb. My boys are tall enough and aren't all that interested in the parade anyway so sometimes I watch it while they go do something else (Hall of Presidents most likely) I can just keep wandering until I'm happy that I can see. And, I have 3 MK days planned. If the first day doesn't work out, I'll put more effort into getting a spot I like the next MK day. It was also over 100 degrees that day which probably effected parade crowds.

I liked the spot enough that I went to it for a Halloween parade and we waited at least half hour. Probably more. We watched the castle show first and just stayed there for the parade. We were closer to the intersection of the tomorrowland spoke and that was better for photos.

It's been a while since I waited on Main St for a parade. I don't think I can give you a good time estimate. Also, the timing of your trip, the crowd level, makes a difference.
