Our first day @ WDW will be Thurs July 8th. We'll arrive at WL between 10:15-10:30 AM. DH and the kids really want to get to MK right away, and even though I know its the EMH day for MK I said O.K. I've been studying the "best times to visit MK attractions" sections of UG and TGM and thought we could possibly do 1 less-likely-to-be-crowded attraction before our PS at CRT, do 1 more attraction after and then find a spot for the parade . We would return to WL for afternoon relaxation , then go back to MK later for counter-served dinner and Spectro/Wishes. Will the crowds in MK on an EMH day make me regret this plan? (I could get tough with the family now and insist we do a different park the first day if need be). Would crowd levels on this evening allow us to hit some attractions after dinner? thank you to everybody on the Dis:D

All our trips to the World are getting closer aren't they? It's great to see more and more people actually talking about the trips round the corner!!

Anyway to the question! I would never go on an EMH day whether on site or not, but definately definately definately not if I was off site and in midsummer - for the purposes of this late arrival you are offsite. The park will be very busy by 10.30 and gridlocked by noon and will be above average all day. I am not sure what rides you want to go on but Buzz and the three mountains will have enormous queues - I couldn't face well over an hour wait (possibly two) in the Florida heat.

Is it really worth blowing a day's pass when you could arrive early on a non-EMH day and see all the best rides, take a nice long break and still see Wishes and Spectro in the evening, while hitting more rides then!

I am also a little worried that you may have a bad experience at MK because of the crowds and heat, which is a bad start to your holiday. I want to hit MK on the first morning I arrive (Monday), but I am actually going to have a free day to settle in leaving MK until the end of my second week. I know the short-term patience will result in a better holiday.

Maybe start with AK (which needs less than a day), have a chilled evening and then go to MK bright and early on Friday. You could even go to www.touringplans.com and get a touring plan for a late arrival at the AK - it will ensure you see the most possible in the time.

But whatever you decide just go with the flow and enjoy every second :D

Looks like we will be staying at the WL at the same time, however, we arrive on the 9th. All of our trips other than a couple have been in July. EMH days are not too bad if you get there in the morning, but by lunch time you can count on waiting in line for nearly everything. We always hit the EMH park first thing and then after a rest at the resort, we hit a non EMH park in the afternoon / evening. I am not saying don't go to MK when you arrive because I have to start each trip with MK no matter what day I arrive. Just be prepared that most attractions will be a wait. I would recommend some of the show type attractions that move a lot of people like Philharmagic, excellent show by the way.

Is it possilbe to watch the MK parades and wishes on an emh without losing one's sanity? Or should I save those for the next day (Friday) too?
