MK monorails down again - Saturday, December 5

8,200 acres of the WDW land is designated as a wildlife preserve. I think a lot of that particular land is also hard to develop anyway, thus the convenient designation.

I worked for a transit system for year. Was the director of maintenance. You would be surprised how much this happens. Average bus fleet is over 400 buses, with a 20 percent break down. .

we missed rope drop because they basically never called for buses once it broke

From TTC, the buses were running non stop from 8am until it came online.

I wish the "real mass transit" systems that I ride in my daily life were anywhere as close to the performance of the WDW transportation setup. Yes it sucks when your on vacation and they aren't timely. Disney has also told everyone that the monorails are undergoing refurbishment and to expect delays so I don't see the issue here.

It sounds to me like they are running exactly how disney has told us they will.

It sounds to me like they are running exactly how disney has told us they will.

That info is referring to the scheduled downtime. That advice is pretty useless if you check and its operating but then it breaks down while you are waiting on it or even worse, on it.

I don't know what's going on with the monorail and why they can't get it to work more reliably. Epcot monorail seemed to be fine, saw it go by a lot on Saturday

Unreliable is the word for the monorail. Period. I know some consider it a benefit of the resorts on the monorail but I think if it as a hinderance. When it does work great but when it is down (often) it causes a transportation nightmare. I'd rather rely on any other form of transportation

I agree, I don't see the monorail as a benefit anymore. We stay at the CR probably once a year. We walk to MK and drive our car everywhere else, literally. Even if we are going to dinner at the Poly we will drive, unless we are going to MK afterwards.

That is a much more reasonable expectation, but not until for a couple of years at the earliest. Monorail is probably close to the end of it's life and needs to be replaced. I think WDW knows it will be a year or longer project for them. That's why it may take a bit to figure out the logistics and extra buses/Watercraft to handle that capacity.
