I'm feeling MK cursed. I'm taking a short trip for MTFBWY, and I wanted to do MK just for the morning of May 5th before we head to the airport at lunchtime. But then I could only get an Oga's reservation for the morning of the 5th. OK, let's do MK on the 3rd, our arrival day! We should get there in time for any parades that might be up by May, and we'll stay for fireworks! I then checked the calendar and see that MK closes at 4:30pm on the 3rd. (Any ideas why? I can't find a party or something we could buy tickets to.)
Argh!
Unless...will the early closure make MK so undesirable that we could have a good low-crowd five hours there before it closes? When parks close early, can you still grab one last ride by getting in line before closing? (SDMT)
Whether we go the 3rd (arrival day) or the 5th (departure), we get about 4-5 hours at MK. So, go when it closes early, or rope drop for a morning?

I would go! For the very same reason you're questioning going on a day when the park closes early, so will many others and some of them will choose to go to another park.

In the past we used to plan our MK days on party days when the park closed early (between 4-6pm) and found it a great way to get more done as many guests chose a different park on those days.

Unfortunately, you can't buy tickets to the event happening on May 3rd at Magic Kingdom.

I'd still do it! You'll most likely have low crowds because of the early closing, which you can use to your advantage to "speed" through the park.
