I read that you can get your baby's first haircut in the Main Street Barber Shop at MK-- has anyone done this? Our baby is a year old and doesn't really "need" a haircut, but it is tempting for the photo op? thanks in advance for your opinions!

My 10 year olds got their hair cut last week there and there were a couple of kids getting the first haircut. If you do it they give you mouseears that say first haircut and I think you get a certificate too as well as some of the hair to save. It was very cute!

My son is 4 years old, and has never had a "real" haircut. I've always cut his hair, but now that he's getting bigger, I'm finding I can't do a very good job of it, anymore. I've been thinking about having his first "real" haircut at MK Barbershop. Does anyone know if the first haircut deal is for babies only, or would this situation apply? I think he'd be thrilled to get the mouse ears!

We got my son's first hair cut when he was 13 months. He had so much fun and was laughing the whole time. The barber, Michel, was awesome. DS was laughing so hard it was causing Michel to laugh too. He got a certificate, Mickey ears (he got the last pair that day, they ran out) lots of Mickey stickers. We got his hair wrapped securely in a napkin with a Mickey sticker and memories to last a lifetime!

DS is now 5 and we still take him there every year. He loves it! Now that he's older he gets colored gel and pixie dust in his hai. He gets lots of attention from CM's, the characters and oter guests. We also get to take pictures every year to see how he's grown.

We're planning on taking DD after our Disney cruise in April. She's turning 1 a few days before we sail. We added on a day to our vacation just so we can get her first haircut on Main Street!

We want to do this for my two year old nephew. It would be his first "real" haircut. His mommy just trims it now. I've got a couple questions.....

Do we need to make an appointment?

I have two nieces going too -- can they just get the coloring
and glitter gel if they don't get haircuts?

How much are haircuts?

Thanks so much!

You do not need an appointment, it is a first come first serve. We have found that first thing in the am (when park opens) was actually easier. We have had sons hair cut 3 times, and we did not wait when we went right as park opened....we dashed for it, but it was a quick dash :0) There was a couple of people come in while they boys (hubby and son) were getting their hair done. I'm sure that it all depends on the day. Another time, we actually went and had lunch and went back and really didn't wait. When we had originally gone, there were quite a few people. When we went back, we were next in line.
I can't wait until Feb to get sons done again...maybe he'll want some pixie dust this time!!!
He really enjoyed it, all three barbers have cut his hair (unless there are more barbers, now)

Hi all!
I want my DD to have her first haircut on our upcoming trip in february, but I have a couple of questions:

Did anyone have problems wiht their little ones (like crying or being upset) for them to have the haircut (DD will be 18 months old)? I´m asking this because she´s hard to stand still on some situations, last week, when we took her to take the passport pictures, it was a real marathon, she cried a lot and the lady had to take over 50 shots to get one right (thanks got it was a digital camera :p)

Do you know if the barbershop opens earlier on EMH days?

How much the haircut costs?

Regards

DD had her haircut Wed and it was $14 for kids and $17 for adults. She was wearing her Cinderella dress, so they put her hair up into a Cinderella bun or updo. She also had Pixie dust (confetti) sprinkled in her hair. She was very cute and received alot of attention! She also received a long strip of Mickey Mouse stickers.

WE went straight to the shop and had to wait for 2 girls to get their hair cut. The had a Mickey put on their hair with blue hair gel. NOt really princess material.

Our kiddos all got their first haircuts there.

In June our dds 3rd birthday she got her first haircut ever (she was growing it long like her big sisters, and donated it to locks of love). The Main Street Barbershop did a great job and she got her mickey ears and certificate even though it was her third bday, because it was still her first haircut.

At this time our 18 month old twins dd/ds also got their first haircuts. Dd sat still just fine and had a nice lady cutting her hair while ds wanted to wiggle and cry while a very nice man attempted to cut his hair. The guy said he couldnt do it and we were not allowed to sit him in our lap and be cut because of liabillity. So we thought ds wasnt going to get cut. However, when the lady was done with dd, she allowed my dh to hold ds in the chair and she cut his hair. They do give tons of stickers and blow bubbles, etc. to try to keep them occupied.

We didnt get there first thing in the a.m., so waited til the 3:00 parade, only had one person in front of us and watched the parade while waiting. It is first come first serve, a very small shop and not much room to wait.

Definately worth doing. The certificate and Mickey Ears are very cute and take lots of photos!

My son had his first haircut at the Main St Barber Shop. Poor thing had been asleep in his stroller and we picked him up and sat him in the barber chair, expecting him to start screaming (he would normally scream for lesser infractions... ;) ). They had us blow some bubbles and Jake was as happy as could be! Very cute!

He had also had a haircut there in Feb and announced that he was having every haircut there. Can't quite swing that, but he will have his next haircut there. It's a must do for us every trip for sure.
