MK - Kiss Good Night, does it exist?

On the 2nd Link in Lists the "Show Times" at like Midnight or 2am....Whats that all about ????
And it is done after the park is mostly empty ???
I Need Details..I Need the Scoop !!
I Love Learning Stuff from all you DIS'ers ! :wave2:

They generally do the Kiss Goodnight 3 times...

It is either 30 minutes / 1 hour / and 1 hour and 30 minutes after park closing

-OR-

It is 1 hour / 1 hour and 30 minutes / and 2 hours after park closing...

I have not been able to figure out a pattern on that one... So with either scenario it is presented 1 hour after park closing so that is a good time to shoot for. This is at the FINAL closing of the night, so if there is an evening EMH it will not been done when the park closes to day guests, it will be done at the EMH closing (so you will see it listed very late on some nights because of the EMH)... Yes it is done after the park is closed, but the stores on Main Street are still open after park closing time, so it is kind of a "little known" event, that most people "happen upon" (and most CM's don't even know about)

As for Mickey waving good night fromt he Train Station, that began within the last few years. It always gives me chills and I work there. I really like that. Depending on how many CM's they have available, Main Street usually has Cast on the park side with signs that say "see" "you" "real" "soon" and they are waving the signs with Mickey hands on as you exit under the station and then Mickey is on the other side waving goodnight. It is really sweet.

Actually, they don't do the Goodnight Mickey at all during really busy times (like during the summer).

As for the Kiss Goodnight, here are the times for the month of July.
July 23-31: 8:30pm, 9pm, and 9:30pm
July 1, 8: 11pm, 11:30pm, and 12am
July 2, 5-6, 10-13, 15, 17-20, 22: 12am, 12:30am, and 1 am
July 4: 1am, 1:30 am, and 2 am
July 3: 4:30am
July 7, 9, 14, 16, 21: 2:30am

YOu really need to be patient while waiting there by the Castle. People watch, talk to the CM's, take pictures. Sometimes you think you are nuts waiting around, LOL, and then it happens. :goodvibes

I was at the Poly and after a late dinner DH and I were walking back to our longhouse. There we were looking at the castle and the Kiss Goodnight. Even my DH knew it was something different ... and magical. I had heard of it but didn't know if it was true! (Someone later told me I did NOT see the kiss goodnight but I KNEW I did). Great thread!

Thanks for all the details, very cool !!
Question: If it takes place so long (say 1 1/2 hours after park closing)
Who is still around to see & hear it ??? Isn't the park, well, closed ???
Do they let visitors stay in MK an hour & a-half after closing ???
That would be so cool, to be like only 50 people standing on Main Street...
Just Curious ! :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

WOW Wheeeee 2:30AM ??!!
4:30AM ??!!!!!
Who the heck is watching ???
This is so interesting to me, sorry, it just amazes me the "little secrets" that WDW does..... :flower3: :tinker:

LOL us crazy people up on our balconies @ the Contemporary with a MK view, either up becuase we're so excited to be there or becuase the teething baby is umm yeah so excited to be there and kept us up. :-)

The craziest thing I've ever seen though was during Hurricane Francis, she had just rolled through, parks were closed for 2 days during and the night before opening again, said baby had me up and on the balcony around 230-3am. There was the castle in all it's glory, colors changing etc and them tinkering with the lights at Tomorrowland. The night was so still that I could hear music from Main Street. But it was not Main Street music, it was the radio on a current/pop/top 40 station! It was so funny! About 20 min later they switched to testing the regular sound but it is a great memory.

On our last trip with DGDs and DD, we saw both, the "kiss goodnight" and Mickey on the train platform. :goodvibes Our girls,7 at the time, were in awe. DD told them that it was Mickey's way of asking them to be sure and come back to WDW! They have been asking constantly about when we are going back 'cause Mickey asked them to come back!!!! So we are starting to put together a trip for next August to go "see Mickey" and keep their promise! :cheer2: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Princess: I love your story, very magical & peaceful. Wonderful Memory!

DanMurphy: Terrific Pix !!! Thanks A Bunch for Posting.....It looks ( and I'm sure it felt ) Amazing! Beautiful!

Disgram: Yes, start planning away ! Heck, A promise is a promise right??!! Your children had a "personal" invitation from The Big Cheese himself to come-on-back !!

Thank you All ! :grouphug: :cloud9: :lovestruc

Dan Murphy~

Those pictures are awesome! I checked out more of your pictures too from your links.

I only hope when we go next month that I'll be able to catch the "kiss" goodnight this time and get pictures like yours :)

My gosh, if I were to see that on my last night of vacation I would be balling my eyes out!

We are staying at ft wilderness in November. How late will the boats run? Will I be able to stay that late and still take the boat? Or would I end up having to take a bus?? Thanks for any help

Alisha

My best shot at seeing it will be on a day the park has an EMH morning but I figure by the time midnight rolls around there won't be many people left. And, don't have a breakfast until 10:20am the next day! And won't have to worry about buses/boats/etc. as we can just walk back to the CR. :)

Would be quite a fitting way to end the last night on WDW property.

I would say count on a bus, not a boat.

i thought the busses stop operating after an hour of park closing.. maybe i'm wrong? can anyone confirm this.. i would love to watch the "kiss goodnight" but afraid i won't be able to catch the bus back "home".. is there anyway of knowing if it will happen that night or what time it will happen? thanks a bunch :goodvibes

DH and I got to see it last year, and it was truly magical... I've got some pictures of the castle different colors. They aren't very good at all, though. I'll try to post them to Photobucket and put them on here.

Done! You can't laugh at my picture taking ability, though. Dh is the photographer, not me!
