I've heard a few people mention a "kiss" goodnight at the MK. I wasn't sure what it was, but last time we were there, we waited at park closing time near the castle, waiting for this. I thought it meant the characters came out at closing and waved good bye to everyone.

I asked several cm's about this and none knew what I was talking about and nothing ever happened. We waited for almost 45 min. after park closing.

Does this exist and what is it??????

It does exist. It is just an announcement though, like the one in the morning. You can hear the characters saying goodnight, but they aren't around. I love this though. The first time I heard it I cried! I can't tell you when it is because one time it was an hour after closing, another time, I never heard it. I'm not sure if it is consistent!

The last time we were there and were leaving MK Mickey was standing on the railroad track (the same place as the opening) and was waving good bye to everyone as they were leaving. I was almost in tears too!

Oh wow! That Mickey waving good bye just tears your heart out when it is your last night! Talk about crying. :guilty:

The kiss goodnight is very real and very special.
You will see it and hear it both.
It takes place one hour after closing.
best location is by the Walt/Mickey statue looking at the castle.

That's all I'm saying ...you need to believe in the magic and just do it.

Someone posted a link here on the Dis which included the video of the Kiss goodnight!!

Very magical!

The Kiss Goodnight is at the Castle, most nights. It is not as neat, IMO, as it was some years back, but still nice. If you are a Disney nut, you will wait again to see it next trip. If 'you don;t get it', you will wonder what you all waited for, LOL.

ETA, a bus will be there till the last guest is out of the park......been there before.

I saw Mickey waving up above the ralroad track right after WISHES..And I mean right after because we were as far down main street near the exit as we could be and walked out as soon as Wishes ended

Mickey waving isn't related to the kiss goodnight. Mickey just started coming out a year or two back (two years max I think). The kiss goodnight has been around a while. They are both amazing "events" in my opinion.

Thanks for the link. I found other great info there too!

So, the Kiss Goodnight is a light show on the castle?

How come cm's don't know about this. We must have asked 5 or 6 last time and none knew WHAT we were talking about. I felt like an idiot. :confused3

From what I understood, the Kiss Goodnight doesn't *always* take place every night (at least according to the Steve Soares website, it didn't for our trip last year...I think it did it only once or twice that week). And I know it's unrelated to Mickey standing and waving to everyone from the Main Street train station. I hope to see it on our upcoming trip!

I asked lasy April in guest services, and they didnt know what I was going on about!??? My Dh thought I was going mad!!! :rotfl2: glad im not !

This sounds very intriguing, and I will definitely try to do this during our trip in August, thanks for introducing this to me, as I never knew it existed.

Kiss Goodnight
Sunday & Friday at 2:30am
Monday-Thursday & Saturday at 12:00, 12:30 & 1:00am
Cinderella Castle light show.

This is from the Steve Soares' entertainment night, on terms of times and when

Thanks Dan, that's very kind of you to post the links!! You have the best pictures and share them so selfishly - THANK YOU!!

If not for seeing the video from the link, I would've thought just the changing colors, not realizing it was a "kiss" goodnight - I wonder if this is just supposed to be "magical" and not "expected", some things at Disney are just so much more magical because you are not "Expecting" them... once we "expect" things - "things" cant live up to some people's "expectations"

imho - I just like experiencing Disney!!

They generally do the Kiss Goodnight 3 times... My suggestion is to plan to be there an hour after park closing time. I say that because sometimes it is 30 minutes / 1 hour / and 1 hour and 30 minutes after park closing and other days it is 1 hour / 1 hour and 30 minutes / and 2 hours after park closing... I have not been able to figure out a pattern on that one... So with either scenario it is presented 1 hour after park closing so that is a good time to shoot for. Keep in mind this is at the FINAL closing of the night, so if there is an evening EMH it will not been done when the park closes to day guests, it will be done at the EMH closing...

As for the question about CM's no knowing about it... Guilty as charged... I worked in MK for almost 3 years before I even heard about it. We were closing the Riverboat one night (back in 2000) and as we were walking back through Liberty Square the other CM I was with got all excited, yelled "The KissGoodNight" and started running, not knowing what the heck he was talking about I ran after him out of curiousity and was very surprised that I had no idea that they even did this. As mentioned it is just the colors of the castle changing and a goodnight speil, but it can be a very meaningful "tradition" on the last day of your vacation, kind of the promise to come back...

As for Mickey waving good night fromt he Train Station, that began within the last few years. It always gives me chills and I work there. I really like that. Depending on how many CM's they have available, Main Street usually has Cast on the park side with signs that say "see" "you" "real" "soon" and they are waving the signs with Mickey hands on as you exit under the station and then Mickey is on the other side waving goodnight. It is really sweet.

What is the link to Steve Soares website? Does anyone have it? I can't find it.

On page one of this thread; look at Dan Murphy's post. The link to Steve Soares website is Dan's second link in his post.

So it really is called " A Kiss Goodnight" ......but no one is actually blowing any kisses at us.......
I have seen Mickey waving GoodBye from atop the Train Station as exiting MK......
I checked out the 2 Links DanMurphy provided...THANKS A BUNCH !
On the 2nd Link in Lists the "Show Times" at like Midnight or 2am....Whats that all about ????
And it is done after the park is mostly empty ???
I Need Details..I Need the Scoop !!
