MK in 1 day... can we do it?

I've poured over the lists of attractions/show/rides in the MK and have come up with a list of stuff we'd like to do. We only have 1 day with a big group of family so we could split off...

In Fantasyland we'd like to hit just about everything (Peter Pan, Pooh, Dumbo, Carrousel, Small World, tea cups and Mickey's Phillharmagic). How long would it take to do this mid to late June? All morning?

After that, we'd head over to Toontown for the "houses" and Barnstormer.

My SIL could take the boy cousins down to the Indy Speedway, Astro Orbiter and Buzz while I take the girls to Cinderellabration.

Eat lunch then go together to the Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, Tom Sawer Island, Pirates of the Carribbean and Alladin carpet ride.

Somehow in there, we'd like to see the parades, then Wishes.

And if I can squeeze anything else out of the day, I'd like to steal away DH and go on Space Mountain!

Is this possible?? We'll have a group of 11 (ages 1-63). The 1 year old takes great naps in the stroller... so I don't think we'll need to go back for rest (we're off site anyway).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!! :goodvibes

You can do most if not all of it IF and this is a big IF....you don't waste time standing around deciding what to do next.

You need to be there before the park opens, and head straight to Fantastyland.

You also have to figure someone is going to want to wait in some line for some character to autograph their book or take a photo, and it might not be a kid! lol I had to wait in line for Mickey and Minnie next to the castle when we accidentaly stumbled across them on our honeymoon last april. Dh said it was a once in a lifetime chance and how can you argue with a kid of any age at WDW?

You also HAVE to use fastpass, I can't believe how many people wait in line for 50 minutes instead of grabbing a fastpass and coming back an hour or two later. It takes planning but you can do it.

I hope you have a great time!

That's a lot for 1 day, especially during peak season. If you get to Fantasyland 1st thing in the morning, you should try to hit those rides first. Even during "slow" times, Fantasyland rides fill up fast and you can expect 60 minute waits by mid-morning.

The other thing to think about is the heat, which can really sap your energy quickly.

Using Fastpass and a good plan, it's probably possible. I just don't know if it would be as enjoyable as 2 days spent there with less rushing around. We were there in December 04 and February 05, and even with lighter crowds we found that 1 day wasn't enough time to see all the big attractions.

Wow. All that in mid-June? You'll be exhausted!

I know that you've already narrowed down your list, but you might want to take the stuff you have now and divide it up into A (must see) and B (won't die if I miss) stuff. While I'm sure you can get to a lot on your list if you go commando style, use FastPass, and split up as necessary, you also won't have much time to just enjoy the parks. You'll be going every single second. You won't have time to stake out viewing locations for the parade, fireworks or shows, so you'll end up in whatever seating or standing area is available. You'll be eating on the run (don't plan a sit-down lunch or dinner ... you won't have time) and won't have a lot of time to stand in line for character meet & greets.

I mean ... it's doable, but I personally wouldn't do it!

You will be worn out, and yes you can.

we did it in peak season in March. Make sure you at least however are familiar with the map and what areas you want to do. Dont do much park crossing. Hit all items in each area and move from area to area, but yes, you can do it.

Ok... thanks guys... but how long does it take to do just about everything in Fantasyland? Would it take all morning (even with fastpasses)?

If I knew how long fantasyland would take... I think I could guage the rest of our day since Fantasyland is a big chunk of our park time.

Thanks...

The list does seem do-able, but in my experience, there are three rides where the wait builds up fairly quickly in the morning, and remain so through most of the day: Dumbo, Indy Speedway, and Astro-Orbiters. You've got all three of these on your list, so it might be tricky to do all of these without a pretty long wait for least one of them.

if your kids have done any go-carting ( how do you spell that)skip Indy- mine didn't get anything out of it and it was a 30 min. wait on a non busy day

This sounds like the 'Dumbo or Die' itinerary on the Unofficial Guide website! I wish you much, much luck and pixie dust!!! :wizard:

Your first Fast Pass would probably be the Pooh ride. Then I would ride Indy Speedway, the Tea Cups , and Dumbo since these are the lines that require the most wait times. By then your Fast Pass for Pooh should be ready. I would probably then get a Fast Pass for Micky's Philharmagic and ride Peter Pan, Snow White and Small World before your Micky's Philharmagic time. If I had to skip anything for later it would be Small World since this is by far the fastest loading ride and can be done at just about anytime.

We did all that in less than a day a few days ago (peak season), but YES-- we were exhausted. It wasn't too bad, though, because we knew how to work the fastpass system and were very knowledgeable about when to do which rides. If you are prepared with a plan/itinerary for the day, you can do it! :sunny:
