MK High School Band Performance Questions

Hey guys my DD has a friend whose family is going to be taking their first WDW vacation in early June and during that trip their oldest DD will be performing with our high school band as a twirler in front of the afternoon parade at MK. I am getting the impression that information the school has given to the parents is very limited and she is wondering how to make their family touring day at MK mesh with her DD having to get to where she needs to be in time for their performance. She asked me the following questions and I haven't a clue so I was wondering if any of you might have an answer, or even experience with your own kids doing this sort of things and have any tips on how to incorporate family MK touring time with parade performance time without out chaos.....

I've been looking up locker size options and locations for MK for the day we'll have to haul DD's majorette stuff to meet up with the band for parade. I'm concerned that we will not find a locker large enough to hold her 28" batons.


Do you have any other suggestions for larger locker options at MK? I'm just trying to figure out timelines and proximity of lockers to backstage Frontier Land to make sure we get DD to where she's supposed to be on time. Maybe the band will send a map? At this time they've only sent an itinerary. I've looked up several maps of MK but can't find what I'm looking for.

You may already be aware of this but thought I'd share what I found when looking up locker options. They have a few smartphone charging lockers for guests to try out for free. You use your credit card as the key to lock the drawer door...Do you have any info on these? Thought that was kinda cool, but wondering if just taking a light weight small Mophie quick charger in your fanny pack is a better idea??

Thanks ahead of time for any info someone might have that could be helpful. I am like a fish out of water with what she is asking.

I've done 10+ trips with a HS marching band.

We have always brought the band and their gear-uniforms-equipment into the backstage area via charter buses. No need for lockers as the equipment stays on the bus until needed.

Thank you for your response! Wow 10 trips that is a lot!! I guess her main concern is that most, if not all, of the kids and chaperones will be staying offsite and traveling to and from the parks together and her DD will essentially be staying onsite with her family and only meeting with the school group for the performance before the parade that one day. (I should have made that clear in the beginning sorry). So with that being said I am guessing that she will have all of her DD's batons and uniform with them and wondering what to do with them when they arrive to the park that morning and also how to get to the backstage area since they will not be arriving with the school group. Does that make sense? I'm sometimes not good with explaining things well

I would suggest the twirler find a way to travel with the band that day or give her uniform and baton bag to someone who is traveling with the band.

If the band will be touring the MK the day of the parade, they will be given a time and place to meet to go backstage as a group. The meeting place is usually near Pirates of the Caribbean. They will be escorted backstage to the parade staging area. This is where their buses will be parked.

If the band is coming in just prior to the parade, they will be bussed directly backstage. In this case, I do not know how the twirler will get backstage to meet up with the band. Maybe a director can meet her at the door that leads backstage?

It is not likely that the mother will be permitted backstage. In my experience, only band members, directors and very few, if any, parents/chaperones are allowed backstage.
