Havent been to Disney in over 10 years, can anyone explain the Goodnight kiss at the end of the day during extra hours at night? Is it done still?, is it done when out of park guest leave? Is it done 2 hours later then usual? .... Going in Sept 20th and it may also be a Halloween night. Staying off property. BUT I really need to witness this on grand daughters birthday night I hope!! I heard we don't get kicked out if we are not riding rides, but how about the Halloween party stuff? Confused ‍♀️

If it is a halloween party and you don't have a ticket for the party you will be asked to leave and then directed out.

I don't believe kiss goodnight happens during the halloween parties anyways. We stayed one time and a manager told us it doesn't happen as they want everyone to leave asap after the parties.

The "Kiss Goodnight" is "usually" done every night, both regular and PM EMH and it is "usually" at 30,60 and 90 minutes after Park Close.

BUT,the times do not always "stick" strictly to that schedule and there are nights when it doesn't happen.

It is NOT a "major" event-it is a must-see for HUGE WDW Geeks only.:)

Kiss goodnight is something like 75 or 90 minutes after closing

And yet when I was there last Saturday night when the park closed at midnight, Casey's was still open and serving hot dogs at 1230 when the goodnight kiss happened, so not exactly a "now it's really time to leave" announcement.

In my heart I imagined a perfect moment after the announcement, I'd pull out a cupcake with a lit candle and tell gd to make a wish as music played..... then all of us would end up bawling lol lol

It isn't.

They often play it at regular hours park closing time, then again, a time of two later that night.

It's very unpredictable.
It costs absolutely nothing to play it, so they can decide to do it any time.

I saw it once half an hour before park closing - this is not common at all, MK was open unusually late that night. I think the latest they would show it after park closing would be 1-2 hours, definitely no more than that.

Also, if it is a Halloween Party night and you do not have a ticket, you will be required to leave at 7PM. You will NOT be allowed to stay. Just want to make sure that is clear.

Yes, the kiss goodnight happens after the parks are closed but you will still see a thousand people or so just milling around Main Street and the castle hub area like we did. Actually, i am convinced that the kiss goodnight is shown several times. We got a couple of hotdogs at Caseys and just took the atomsphere all in. Perhaps the ice cream parlor is still open too? The kiss goodnight just SCREAMS disney!! Watching the video the someone just posted gave me goosebumps and welled me up inside. The kiss goodnight is a gentle nod to everyone...."leave the parks now." As the other poster mentioned, if you are at magic kingdom the night of a halloween party and did not purchase a halloween party ticket, you will be asked to leave at 7:00 p.m. and not see the kiss goodnight.

I can highly recommended if your granddaugther's birthday lands on a halloween party, then by all means, attend the halloween party!!!! It has the best parade, completely different and awesome fireworks, best stage show and less attendance in people and no fastpasses are offered. Though Seven dwarfs for us was still a 45 minute wait...ugh! The kiss goodnight will still be presented as well.

Since you haven't been to WDW in 10 years, lots of improvements and attractions have been enhanced...the fantasyland has doubled in size since your last trip and AK is amazing and they will have Avartarland opened. Hope your granddaughter has an amazing birthday at WDW and you're a wonderful grandmother for taking her!

Do resort buses run late enough to catch the good night kiss?

(And was I stupid to think that you'd hear a kiss sound and see lip prints rather than a mini show that lit the castle again?)

Yes they do.

Resort buses run until the parks are empty.

Thanks! I've never seen it or been in the parks that late because I've either been with my family and/or had a race to do at stupid early in the morning. But since I'm solo - and not doing any races - this trip, it would be fun to see.

YES! And if it's not very crowded, you may be greeted right and the very beginning of the bus loop and asked which resort you need to go to, and directed toward a waiting bus right there instead of having to walk to the bus stop. Disney is not going to leave you stranded without a way to get back to your resort, even if you are one of the very last people to exit the park.

1. On an EMH night you can stay in the park, but you won't be allowed to go on rides or attractions.
2. Halloween parties are hard ticket events so if you don't purchase party tickets you will have to leave by 7 PM and there won't be a kiss goodnight at that time.

....awesome info, I'm hoping it works out! We will have a 5 year old grandson too, hoping he could last the entire night lol....she will that's for sure. We all cannot wait- watching that video again also made me well up. When can tickets be purchased for the Halloween party? Do resort guest get first crack? ...I read elsewhere the 20th may not be a date....wish I knew SOON! :)
