DH and I are going for a long weekend (without the kids :thumbsup2) and I am wondering about the desert party at MK. Can anyone tell me more abut it???

The Dessert Party is at the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station and is really nice, tho a bit pricey! I can see it being great for families with young kids as it gives parents a break and a chance to sit down in a chair before the fireworks, but I have seen kids get antsy waiting for the fireworks to begin...easily fixed by a little preplanning!!! Another advantage is being able to know exactly where your kids are (smaller area, less people) during the most crowded time of the day on Main Street.

The desserts are bite size samplers and are set up on a buffet, all you can eat, tho its hard to get seconds on somethings as they run out. These range from samplers of chocolate mousse to cookies to fresh fruit to more elaborate items...something for everyone. Dessets are very rich, so while you think you'll eat lots of items, I haven't found that to be true. There is a separate drink station with hot and cold beverages, including milk (last summer), which was a major hit for us. Tables are reserved for your party and are marked with your name. What is REALLY nice is that you have a great view of the fireworks and are not squished with the throngs on Main Street. Please note that the fireworks are set up to use the castle as the centerpiece...but you are off to the right of this viewing angle.
Tinkerbell flies directly overhead as the show begins. People line up at the railing...while somewhat frustrating, its a "do as the Romans do" type of moment.

We will definitely try to include it on our next trip!!!
HTH---I can't post pix, unforetunately!

Actually, I think the Dessert Party is better for adult couples or at least people with older kids who can better appreciate the wide array of desserts. For the OP, there are a lot of threads about the dessert party and some have good pictures. DH and I are taking a romantic trip for 2 this year and the dessert party was one of his top requests.

You check in approx 1 hour before that night's fireworks. You have a pre-reserved table with your name already on it; no need to queue up an hour ahead of time for a "good seat", and I thought there was sufficient spacing between the tables to give you some real privacy. A wide array of desserts. We were there last June and thought the CMs did a good job constantly restocking the buffet tables. IIRC the party started with multiple buffet tables and the selections repeated a total of 4 times. As the fireworks began the CMs consolidated the offerings into a single table but did keep that one restocked.

During the fireworks some people stood at the railing but lots of others sat. CMs were clearing off the individual tables but if you indicated you were still eating they were happy to leave your plates. The food and beverages were still available for at least 10-15 minutes after the fireworks, too. Let the crowd surge forward when the fireworks end - you go get another chocolate-covered strawberry and refresh your drink, and wait for everybody to move out of your way before you go.

I do not recommend you eat much (or any.....) dinner that night. Instead, aim for a really big, really late lunch, a good 5-6 hours before the start of the Dessert Party.

My one caveat would be that you cannot really see the Main Street parade if you are at the Dessert Party. From the Tomorrowland Terrace you just kind of see the tops of a few floats but no details. If you stay on Main Street to watch the parade you basically miss 3/4 of the party and in fact unless you checked in beforehand they might assume you were a no-show and give your table away to a walk-up.

Actually, I totally agree with Quin...the dessert party is probably better appreciated by mid-age kids...but I can certainly understand the lure for parents with younger kids!!! And the ability to refill your glass and have a few more treats while the throngs exit the park is TOTALLY worth it!!

Does any one kow the exact price? I would like to try to work this into our trip, but need to know how much I have to work!!:lmao:

Thanks

Great reviews.
I have this booked as a surprise for my DD's after we run the Princess Half 2/27. We are doing a late breakfast buffet at the Dolphin so this should work great.

This is another of those meals where the price depends on the time of year. I booked in mid-May for $21.99/person but I think in June it's $26.99.

If you go to the meal reservation section of the Disney website I believe you can check prices there. I'd advise booking early and keep in mind you have to pay when you book. We are going next week and it cost about $96 for 4 people.

I booked Memorial Day weekend (Sunday), and the price was still $21.99 per adult

Thanks for the rough idea. I would like to book for June, but they aren't taking ressies to my knowledge for than yet. I hope they open it up and we are able to get in!

We made ressie's for May 31st. We have a wide range of kids from 14-2 so I'm hoping they all like it! My DH and DD (14) are huge dessert lovers so figure hey - they can fill up without me telling them to cut back on the sweets LOL. Hoping it's great!

We will be there that day as well  What time did you book for? I did 9pm.

We are going the last week in June on the DxDP. Can this be counted as a credit?

What happens if it rains?

Nobody gets too close to the outer railing. :lmao:

Tomorrowland Terrace has a roof. The event is rain or shine. Even if the weather was so bad that the fireworks were cancelled, I believe the Dessert Party takes place. You've pre-paid for it (they charge your credit card when you make the reservation) so you might as well go eat your goodies.
