MK Firework Dessert Party

A few questions:

1) Was your table assigned?
no. open seating

2) Did they do a good job of keeping the buffet stocked? Did they keep restocking it throughout the party or did they stop halfway through?
Not great. Big rush and only some items were refreshed. So when some items (strawberries come to mind) were not refreshed

3) Did they leave any remaining food out after Wishes was over?
Nope. Was cleared during Wishes

4) Were the desserts tasty?
Everyone has different tastes. The pasteries were just generic, frozen stuff and not very good. Couple of the other items were ok. Basically you pay for a good seat and so so dessert.

Overall it was worth the money for us because we got decent seats and avoided the crush of people. The food was a very distant second..

So to re-cap, Disney has taken away an area where Guests, inluding our family, used to be able to watch the fireworks for free and they now charge you for the privlidge and give you mediocure deserts that you have to fight for if you want the better items. :sad2:

i also was looking for Dessert party on the 29th and was told that nothing was open! No listings for January either!

I went early on in the history of the dessert party and had a completely opposite experience. Maybe they have changed things since then.

We had an assigned table, the dessert table and drinks were constantly restocked, the desserts were fresh and delicious and we were free to linger after the fireworks. There were plenty of desserts still available at the table after the fireworks had ended.

We are a family of five, so it was not cheap, but we all agreed that we would do this again. It was very relaxing. When they open up there is an initial rush for the buffet line, but it quickly thins out. I have three teenagers and they were all very pleased with the event. I am not a dessert person and loved it.

Nothing for December 27, 28 or 29th. :( I called this morning right at my 90 days at 7am. The cast member really tried to look and had to "email her supervisor then she contacted "dining help".

Glad to hear you had a great time! :thumbsup2 I'd love to see the pictures once you get them downloaded.

My family and I are going in a few weeks and we can't wait to stuff our faces with yummy desserts!!!

Here is what my family found last week:

1. Yes, we had a name plate on our table that welcomed us. I read someone else saying that their table was not. I had made reservations, so for those with reservations - yes our table was assigned.

2. The desserts were stocked full until about 8:30 (Wishes was at 9pm). They then consolidated the desserts around 8:30 and still had some left at the end of Wishes.

3. Yes, there were still about 2 carts/tables full of desserts. People were still eating when we left after Wishes was over. We wanted to get back to our hotel ASAP because we had another early morning.

4. The desserts were great! There were a few my family really enjoyed and a few that we didn't really care for - but you have that any buffet you go to.

I would recommend the dessert party to anyone looking for an easy way to watch Wishes without having to fight the crowds and for those who love desserts.

Pictures coming soon - I hope!

During MVMCP I was told that the Christmas parade starts at 8:15 by 2 CM's and 8:30 by another. We have a 8:50 pm ADR for the dessert party. The second parade starts at 10:30 with Wishes at 9:30. So should we watch the 1st parade and dart over to the dessert party or do we try and get to Main ST. for the 2nd parade (where I really want to see the parade from). My fear is that Main St. will be too crowded already to get a good seat on Main St. if we are at the dessert party. Any thoughts?

I was planning on watching Spectro at 8pm and then checking into the dessert party after Spectro on 9/21. However, talking with the CM who I booked the dessert party with told me that I needed to check in at 8pm. I was glad I checked in when we did because there was a huge rush to get desserts that first 15 minutes upon opening. I would go for the second parade - most people will probably watch the first parade - kind of like most crowds go for the first Fantasmic showing and the second isn't as full. Just my thoughts. I was shocked how many people lined up really early for the parades. I think the 2nd would be less crowded.

I just booked the Wishes Dessert Party for November 10th! I'm so pumped! I am arriving the 10th at 10 AM, so I am eating a late lunch at 3:30. Won't be hungry again at dinner time so desserts will be perfect at 8:30!

I just called to see about Dec 26, 27, 28, or 29. (I know, everyone is saying they've had no luck but I thought I would try).

The CM I spoke with makes me wonder if anyone really knows what is going on. She told me that there weren't any Wishes Dessert Parties those nights because MVMCP where going on those nights. Really? How fascinating. Have they added additional MVMCP nights? LOL

Anyhow, she said no openings, but not sure I can trust her! I'm going to keep trying. Maybe someday I'll get someone who knows what they are doing.

Hmmm....these are the dates showing a "holiday" increase:

The difference IS equivalent to the Holiday pricing, but all of the dates do not add up. I can't find dates after those listed above, I would assume they would be similar this year.:confused3

I know there were holiday price increases the entire week of thanksgiving last year because I paid them when we were there. I am pretty sure this has happened in years past. I would think that we are seeing here and not elswhere b/c this is a prepaid ressie??

Hi Everyone

I checked the Disney Online Reservation Page for MVMCP and it has not added dates for this event. So this event shouldn't be tied to the reason there is no availability for the Wishes Dessert Party for the dates of Dec 27th 28th and 29th.

So I am really curious, can one Disboard member let us know that they actually got reservations for the Wishes Dessert Party on any of these 3 dates?

If you did, I will keep trying to get a reservation, but if no one has, I think I might as well give up.

Again TODAY was the first opportunity to get these dates for me, and I have not seen any other disappointed posts about these dates for those with Onsite Reservations dating back to December 19th arrivals, using the plus 10 technique.

I'm so disappointed, and the cast members seemed to be confused about this. Disboards thinks the party goes onto December 29th, and other boards think it goes a few days longer into early January? I did ask a Supervisor today when is the last scheduled event, and after five minutes he said December 29th, but I really think he just wanted to get done with my questions on the subject.

Does anyone have an actual reservation for the Dessert Wishes Party from December 27th or beyond?

Thanks, Phil

I know someone who has Wishes Dessert party tickets for 1st January. When I rang for mine for the 19th December the CM said the parties ran until the 2nd January.

Seems like it's hit or miss. I assumed that it was like the DDP. Start of with a good deal and slowly take things away as it becomes more popular. Maybe I was wrong.

I am in the exact same position as you. We arrive 12/27 and I also called today (at 7am exactly) to reserve the Wishes Dessert Party on the 27, 28 or 29 December.

The CM told me all the dates were sold out. I then asked her if there was a Dessert Party on any other later dates. She said that there is NO dessert party on 30/31 December because the Tomorrowland Terrace is being used for a private function. However, she said it IS back in January. She checked Jan 1/2/3 for me and they were also all booked solid.

Crazy, huh? I have no idea how people have managed to secure these reservations. I'm so disappointed. When I called back a second time the CM said that a lot of the spaces get taken by club level guests before opening to the public. Annoying that this is our first trip in ages when we haven't been on a concierge level!

Now I almost want to vent, I am thinking like Pete Werner (PODCAST WEBMASTER), if I buy the WDW Annual Pass, own the DVC Timeshare, get the Tables in Wonderland Card, I think I should have equal access to events as someone paying cash on a Concierge level. Disney please treat me as your loyal, returning customer. How about something for all that loyalty, that rhymes with ROYALTY you get from me.

Hear this Disney: Next year I may just have to skip Disney during one of many trips and go see Harry Potter at Universal instead ! Sadly I probably would still stay at my DVC timeshare.

Am I that addicted to desserts that I must rant? Maybe Disney is doing me a favor by not having it available. Pass the Reeses Peanut Butter Cups please.

Just got off the phone, got Saturday January 2nd for the Dessert Wishes.

The only other date available for me was Friday January 1st. But that is recovery day after New Years Eve, I will be relaxing at the resort.

So it appears, goodbye to Dec 27th 28th 29th.
30 and 31 is probably gone too for that private parties.
Jan 1 and 2 is available. (I got the 2nd Saturday).
3 and 4 are probably not ??? my last castmember who was the MOST helpful, didn't mention those as eligible dates.

I am so greatful to the LAST cast member who knew that the dates went beyond the December 29th cut off, another recent change.

He also said that they DID NOT expand MVMCP beyond the 19th of December.

Hope these answers help you out.

It cost around $55 with all the taxes for two adults I think, it was put on my credit card, with a 24 hour cancellation notice. And you still have to give a gratuity, so I am not sure if that is in the charge or not yet? I'm glad I am paying for it now, as it won't be part of the January Credit Card Bill. Yikes !

Good luck everyone else, I need no longer rant.

Phil

For those reservations that the CM's say are 'booked', kindly ask the CM to check the 7-8 p.m. time period. During the holiday period, Wishes is at 10pm. So the CM will look for a ressie around 9-10 p.m. However, the ADR's for the holiday time appear to be entered incorrectlly for around 7:00 p.m. so the CM's search will not find the open ADR's. If the CM won't check for 7:00 p.m., then call back and try another. This worked for me and I'm holding a ressie for 12/24 at 7:20 p.m for the 10pm Wishes. I'm sure the correct time will be worked out closer to the date (I'll call if I don't hear back). This may help some of you out.

Also, I also received the higher then expected price of about $27 and change per adult so it really feels like a holiday surcharge. I wouldn't pay it for any other night....

Also the $27.+ should include gratuity - - unless there's been a change to "ring in" the new year.

Thank you soooo much for this!!!

After having miserable CMs all day I called back AGAIN and got a WONDERFUL lady who searched the earlier time slots for me -- and we got January 2 at 7.20pm!! :goodvibes :cool1: :thumbsup2

I'm a bit concerned about why it's so early, but at least we have it booked at last!

I'm so happy right now! We'll see you there, Phil ;) :wizard: :thumbsup2

I called on Saturday 9/26 at 7:00 am (the first day I could make reservations)
and was told there was no availability for 12/26, 12/27, 12/28 or 12/29 for the dessert party. The CM thought it was strange and put me on hold for a few minutes while she checked with a manager and said they had both checked and there was nothing available. So now I'm wondering if they were looking at the wrong time slots.
After reading the previous posts, I just called back and asked the CM to check beginning at 7PM for those nights but no luck.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! I'm so happy now. I was able to get the Wishes Dessert Party for 1/1. What a fantastic way to start the New Year off right. I can't thank you all enough! I too was trying for Dec 27-29 and nothing. I was going to keep trying, but now. Woohoo! :cool1:

Wow. :worship: :disrocks:
