Hey all,
We are just back home from WDW. We did the Dessert party on Sept. 24th. It was a nice experience. I don't know that I would do it again next year if it's still offered, since it was so expensive. However I am glad we did it this year! It gave our trip a special night that was a new experience for all of us. Also, my husband does not really care for fireworks and parades so we never get to go sit and wait for good spots for those. This gave me & my son an opportunity to have an excellent spot for the fireworks and my husband didn't complain about sitting for an hour because he was getting to stuff his face.
As far as some of the concerns I read here, we didn't have any problems at all. We had an excellent table on the second row back from the rail. We did decide to step to the rail to watch, as the roof would have blocked the highest of the fireworks, but we could have seen most everything from our table if we wished. The desserts did go faster than I anticpated, but most were refilled throughout the show. The chocolate strawberries I never caught again after my first plate, but my son swears he saw them being restocked. I guess my timing was just off. The little cheesecake cups were to die for! Like many here, I hated the mango shooters, but my son loved them.
We did have an assigned table, but it wasn't assigned until we checked in. We were told 8pm for checkin, but we were wondering Tomorrowland killing time until 8 and noticed a line forming in the Terrace at 7:30, so I got nervous and we went ahead and got in it. I am so glad we did! They went down the line at 7:50pm giving the wristbands and table assignments. I imagine those in the back of the line got the not-quite-so-good tables or maybe no assignment at all. We were seated at about 8:15. You could immediately rush the desserts as soon as you were escorted to your table.
Desserts were definitely restocked up until Wishes started. There were some of the less popular things left even at the end of Wishes. I was pretty absorbed in the show so didn't notice exactly what time they stopped restocking. But people were still able to get drinks and desserts even after the fireworks. We didn't eat any more, but we did hang out a bit at the table to let the crowd thin out on Main Street. At no time did we feel rushed to leave. The tip was definitely included in our original payment, so the CM who told me that on the phone was correct. No additional payment was needed at the party.
If anyone has any questions I didn't cover, feel free to ask!
