MK - finish each "land" first or do all big rides first

We've always done - Fantasyland, Frontierland, train to ToonTown, Tomorrowland, then Adventureland.

I did it this way to keep from backtracking, not to mention having the "big" rides spaced out throughout the day, so our afternoon didn't get lame.

But what do you think about doing all the big rides first, hoping to avoid the lines, and then do the less popular stuff in the afternoon?

Anyone done this? Our kids are 7 and 4. Is our afternoon going to be too "boring" for them? Bear in mind - my kids are both thrill ride junkies!! They would never leave Frontierland and Tomorrowland if it were up to them!

We tend to go land by land, its just easier. That being said, we also will grab a fastpass for say Haunted Mansion and then go do any rides with shorter waits in either Adventureland or Fantasyland since they're both relatively close. I think if both your kids like thrill rides it would be best to spread them out, this way they don't do everything at one time and then become bored :)

I tend to agree with you. Anyone else? A friend just mentioned they do it this way and rarely have lines in the mornings, so thought it might be worth a shot. I suppose we could save the shows and characters for during the afternoon - just seems like a BUNCH of walking!!

It is a lot of walking, but worth it, IMHO.

We tour every park this way, doing all the "biggies" first.

If we're at a park for two openings, we will split up the "biggies" and do half one morning and the other half the other morning.

I think most guidebooks recommend this style of touring, to avoid long lines. It's always worked for us! :)

Okay - you're making me rethink the way I've done Disney for the past 10+ trips - I might actually have to look at a map. :teeth: I'm just kidding. It does make sense though. Our kids are getting a little older now - I never would have tried to pull off all that walking before - but just maybe . . . . .

With the group I am going with I know that I will have no choice but do each land as it comes. We have never been before so the grandparents will not like the idea of backtracking. My DD on the other hand will want to do whatever is in front of her. She will want to go from one thing to the very next. All my husband wants is a Goofy hat. All I want is happy people. Good thing we are going during historical low crowd level.

We always backtrack like crazy... first afternoon at WDW last visit, in the MK, we went to Space Mountain, spent some time in Tomorrowland, then off to Haunted Mansion, then to Pirates, then back to Space Mountain... Yes the feet get tired. As a matter of fact, we were walking so much, our feet were throbbing painfully by the last day. Might want to rethink that for the next trip! Maybe some better touring, less backtracking, would be a good thing for us!

We don't usually run around to all the big rides first. We like to take our time in each land and make our way around the park, I think it's much more fun and relaxing that way. Even if the big rides have long lines, there's always fastpass. Like if we're in Frontierland and Splash has a long line, we'll just grab a fastpass, and go to Pirates or Country Bears, which are nearby and don't have long lines. And then we'll go back to Splash when our time comes up. In every land there's rides that rarely have long lines, so that's where we go when we're waiting for our fastpass times for the big rides to come up!
