We’re going to WDW in a couple of weeks. Will be staying at the Swan Reserve and planning on using the MK extended evening hours which are 11pm- 1am when we’re there. ( haven’t told the rest of the family the plan- they’re just going to have to fall in line!).
There’s no way we’ll last from rope drop to 1am so was thinking of having a break back at the hotel in the afternoon. We will have a car so I thought maybe we could drive in the morning, use the buses to come back mid afternoon and go back then drive back to the Swan at the end of the day. I know that there can be huge queues trying to get back to the TTC at park close but am I right in thinking ( hoping) it should be fine after extended hours? Presumably we will still be able to get back to the car park?? Am assuming most people will get using Disney transport as staying in deluxe properties? Thanks!

We recently stayed late in MK and left around 1:15am. There were not many people using transportation. We took a bus back to our hotel. No wait for a bus and bus was not crowded. Your experience may be different.

Yes, you'll still be able to get back across the lagoon to the TTC and from there to your car, and there will be other guests doing the same thing, but not nearly as many as at normal closing. Depending on how early you get there in the morning, though (how far out in the MK parking lot your car ends up), you might have a very long walk from the TTC to your car at the end of a tiring day + extra evening hours. We almost always have a car at WDW, and MK is the park we are least likely to drive to, just because of the location of the bus depot vs. the size of the parking lot.

Thanks for your replies. Because we’re at the Swan the buses only go to the TTC anyway or we need to walk over to the Boardwalk area resorts.
I think we’ll drive in the morning, shell out more $ for preferred parking and use transport for our break in the middle.
