MK during Christmas parade taping

I was on the phone yesterday with WDW and I was told there is a good chance that our dates will fall when they are taping the Christmas parade for ABC. They do not know the dates yet but apparently that's the time it was last year. She said its taped over a period of 3-4 days.
Has anyone been during this time? how are the crowds? Is the parade taped over and over til they get it right? I thought it sounded like it could be fun, my husband says it's a great time to go on the rides

Quite a few on here have been. I haven't personally been, but from what others have said is that the rest of the park feels just like a regular day. It's Main Street and the hub that will be packed and you don't want to go to unless your there for the taping. Those on here that have went, seems like the general consensus is that it's cool to experience the live parade, but it's not all it's cracked up to be. You'll be there for a long time in the heat and it's not just a fluid parade. They start then stop and have to get different camera angles and all that.

Last year, the parade portion was taped on November 13th. Because of a large amount of confetti snow, the parade portions only needed one "take." There was a lot of prep time with the floats and characters in place for over an hour before the segment was taped.

Be prepared for a lot of waiting if you want to watch the parade taping.

I guess last year it was taped Nov 10-13

How do I know what day they are taping what?

It's kept hush hush. My husband was in the parade last year as part of the 501st. He wasn't allowed to say that until
after the parade aired on Christmas Day. Of course, I found guest YouTube and pictures online the day of parade taping so got a sneak peak that way. And @hiroMYhero took a picture of her tv for me

How do I know what day they are taping what?

You won't. Even the CMs involved in the taping don't know much until they receive their schedule two weeks in advance.

My CM friend has been involved in the taping for 5 of the last 6 years. The 2015 taping was the first time it was scheduled for November dates. Three weeks before last year's taping, CM friend needed to schedule bereavement leave and fly to CA. All she was told was that she could be on leave through November 12th. Then, two weeks before the taping, she received her schedule to discover why she was needed on the 13th.
