Heading to MK on the Sunday of Princess weekend. My plan was to arrive for early entry and hit Space and Buzz. BUT...forgot about the half marathon going through the park. Who's been to MK the morning of Princess half (or Marathon half or full)?? The usual race path seems like it could hinder us from our objectives. Any thoughts on transportation (drive ourselves or bus) in that situation would be great too. :-)

Thanks.

We have been a couple times on the day of the Princess Half (and have the same plan for this year). Granted these trips were pre-ETPE, but we seemed to have good luck getting a lot done. My advice is to take Disney Transportation but expect it to take a while. There are a lot of road closures so driving is not advised.

If you can get to the park, you should find it to be less crowded than usual for the first hour or two.

For the half marathon two weeks ago I went to the TTC early (5 AM) to watch 4 family members come through, and then walked out to the road across from Shades of Green to see them go by there, which they did a little after 7:30. I then walked casually along the walkway with a quick stop at the Grand Floridian and got to MK about 8.

The number of people waiting at the rope to head to 7DMT was noticeably fewer than usual, so I joined in. The lines for the rides on the Tomorrowland/Frontierland side of the park were also lower than usual.

The crowds will grow quickly as all of the roads fully open and people who participated in the event head to the parks.

To get to the park I would take the earliest bus possible and expect it to take a little longer than usual. Depending on the resort they might take a different route than usual to circumvent the roads affected by the run, and those routes might be busy.
