OK, we something stupid tonight. We had an all-Universal vacation planned but just bought tickets to the Dec. 9 MVMCP. Therefore, we want to go to DTD Marketplace (to pick up tickets at will call) from RPR at Universal and back from MK to RPR at midnight. No car, so what's the best way to do this without too much hassle?

A taxi will be easiest, but renting a car for the day will be quite a bit cheaper.

You can look up taxi fare at taxifarefinder.com

My biggest worry, of course, is the end of the party around midnight. Where's the best place to find a taxi? Do they wait at the front of the parks or is there somewhere else?

Walk over to the Contemporary and hail a taxi or ask the valet guys to call one. Easy peasy.

But why start at Downtown Disney? Then you still need to get yourselves to MK somehow.

I agree it's not necessary to go to DTD first, unless they want to do dinner and/or shopping there too. But yes, OP, you would then need to transfer to an MK bus from a resort which will be time consuming. There are no DTD to MK buses. You could walk to SSR and catch the MK bus from there, that would likely be the fastest if you need to go to DTD first.

Agree with PP that you should walk to Contemporary after the party to catch a taxi. We just took a taxi from CBR to RPR last week, and the resort had taxis readily available (and said if they weren't available, they can call and have one in 5 minutes). The fare from CBR was about $33 so from MK area, I'd maybe add another $10 or so.

No, it's not necessary. We wanted to go in the morning and shop and have lunch at WP and pick up the tickets while we're there. I figured will-call at the DTD GRO would be less hectic than the MK GRO right before the party. If it would save $10 we could always go to CBR from MK. From DTD we were going to take one of the buses to the Contemporary to see their gingerbread and take the monorail over to the park. It'll be a Disney-ful day.

to MK. You'd have to take the entire Resort loop (with stops at TTC, Poly and GF) to get to MK. The 5-8 minute walk is much quicker.

Ok, that makes sense about DTD then. The additional $10 cab fare was just a guestimate. It's likely a negligible difference, and it will be much more convenient to walk back to CR and just catch a cab from there. The buses at the end of a party can be packed, and frankly the CBR bus service isn't great anyhow.

OK, just back, went to the Dec 9 MVMCP (it was sold out, btw), $28 from RPR to DTD (DTD is a mess with the construction) then bus to the Contemporary and monorail to GF then monorail to party. After party at midnight, took bus to POR (because we've been there before and know it). POR called us a taxi which was $33 back to RPR. Got to RPR about 1:40A. It was roundabout but fun. Also, BTW, when we walked into RPR lobby at 1:40AM there was not a soul to be found, the desk and doors and bell area were unmanned. It was bizarre. Glad POR had its lobby staffed.

FWIW on our first visit to POR there was one person in the lobby and they had to search out the guy to help us with our luggage. And I think the lobby person was only there becaues they knew (from online checkin and DME) that we were on our way.

I've done laundry at Uni before pretty darned late (aka early in the morning) and the staff are "hiding", but they are there.
