Hello! I'm planning a trip for first week in January 2022. On our MK day we're interested in going to Whispering Canyon Cafe for lunch. How long does it take to get to WL by boat from MK? Is the food worth taking a chunk out of our day at MK? Thank you for any advice you can provide!

Bus is shorter ride and arrives more frequently.
True, but boat ride is a lot more fun. I'd budget an hour just in case; if you get there early it's a pretty nice place to wander around and explore; lobby is really beautiful and geyser is fun to watch if you're there on the hour; they also have a nice resort shop. If you're big eaters the skillet is really nice; if not, the sandwiches are pretty good and they had bottomless milkshakes (don't know if they still have them on the post-covid menu).

Thank you for the response, this is very helpful!

I'd say its no more than 15 minutes by boat. I'd also say it is worth it, especially when considering the TS options in MK. WL is a terrific way to take a midday break. You can have a better than decent meal, and enjoy the lodge for a bit before going back to MK. FOr that matter, if you're in WL you also have the geyser Point option which is a great choice for lunch.

The boat ride itself is about 15 minutes long but getting out of the park, waiting for the boat to arrive, loading, waiting for the go ahead to sail etc and I’d give yourself an hour, just in case. Same back, sometimes it’s a long wait for those boats at Wilderness Lodge back to MK, then you have to do security and all that jazz again.

I honestly wouldn’t waste time going out of MK for lunch then going back in afterwards. Whispering Canyon is fun but could you do it before or after a park day? Lots of good options on a similar level food and pricewise within MK.

I would give myself 30 minutes to take the boat to WL. Really calm place to eat in comparison to MK and a great relaxing spot. You’ll enjoy the ride to and from.

Yeah, it generally takes 15 mins just to walk to the front of the park. And they don’t run boats very often midday. If you luck out and catch a boat right away you can do it in 30 mins, if you just miss a boat, an hour.

We enjoy midday breaks from parks so it is definitelt doable, but we actually love rope dropping MK and an early lunch at The Plaza so we never leave MK to eat.

If you want a midday break, it's great. But three hours at least for boat travel/dining. Personally I'd rather budget four hours for a midday break and go back to the resort and swim. We have gone to Whispering Canyon for an early dinner, as well as Storybook Dining when it was available at WL. and scheduled them about 430, going back to MK just for fireworks.

We enjoy leaving MK for meals at WL, CR, Poly, and GF.

WCC is one of our family favorites and although I don't remember the time it takes to go over, it's an enjoyable boat ride.

If it's a short day, though, I would not leave the park. It all depends on how long the MK is open.

I'd forgotten about Geyser Point... thank you for the advice!
