For those of you going around Thanksgiving or in early December:

Last year, in order to accommodate a new stage in Town Square for Regis and Kelly to host the Walt Disney World Very Merry Christmas Parade for TV, the Magic Kingdom's Christmas tree was first erected in the Rose Garden near the Central Plaza hub. After the filming of the parade, the tree was taken down and moved to its usual spot in Town Square. Apparently, the Imagineers were not happy with the way that it worked out.

We've been informed that the Magic Kingdom's Christmas Tree will not be going up until after the recording of the parade. This means that Magic Kingdom guests who visit to see the holiday decorations and who arrive before December 4 may be disappointed by the tree's absence.

Wow. Honestly I dont like this. Christmas is Dec. 25 and they're not going to put the tree up before Dec. 4? Cmon! Personally I thought it looked better in the Rose Garden anyways and think it could have stayed there and looked nice!

Personally, I think they should leave the tree where it belongs, and move Regis and Kelly. They're just annoying anyway. The last few years, they've seemed very forced and phony.

AGREED! I like Regis a lot but, Kelly............ :rolleyes1 :dance3: :joker: :cheer2:

I'm bummed about this. I have never been to WDW to see the holiday decorations and I wanted to see the tree (I personally like the pictures of the tree in the Town Square instead of by the castle).

Why can't they just put the tree up and leave it (regardless of where I think looks best)? ;)

Bad news :( I'm planning my first WDW Christmas trip and we'll be there 12/1 - 12/5!! We wont be going to the parks on the 5th so chances are we wont get to the see the tree!! This really stinks. :(

::yes::

Funny...

We went last December and were at MK on Monday, Dec. 5. This was after the weekend of parade taping. All other decorations were up, but the tree was not up as we first walked in to the park. I immediately knew something was missing!

When we returned on Friday, Dec. 9, the tree was back up. I asked a CM about it hoping to prove that I wasn't crazy, and she said it was put back up the night of Monday, Dec. 5. She told me it had been taken down for the filming of the parade.

This is where it was before the taping last year. Personally, I like it in Town Square better, but if it's a toss up between going there late, and going in the Rose Garden on time, I'd pick the Rose Garden.

I agree with that! :thumbsup2 So, lets see, my DH is going for the FIRST time to WDW during the Christmas festivities (Dec. 2-5th) and there will be NO tree at MK? :furious: :furious: Not too smart, people! :sad2:

I just realized we have the same problem. My sister is meeting us for part of the trip this year. This is her first trip at holiday time. She's arriving on the same day we are (11/26), but she's leaving on 12/2 and we're staying until 12/6. So she won't be able to see the tree! After all we've told her about how beautiful the decorations are. And there'll be no tree for the first group of MVMCPs. That stinks!!!

The more I think about this, the more annoying Regis and Kelly seem!!! :furious: Maybe they should dump Regis and Kelly and just have a voiceover announcing the different segments of the parade. Show it in real time without breaks and use the rest of the show to highlight some of the other decorations and special holiday entertainment in the other parks and hotels.

Don't you think it would be up for the first MVMCP??
When do they normally put up decorations? If they have the first MVMCP date as November 13, I would think the decorations would be in place.

Well, the OP quoted that the tree won't be going up until after the taping of the parade, which happens the first weekend of December. I take that to mean that there will be no tree in the MK at all until after December 4.

That means a lot of people going to MVMCP expecting to see the MK all decorated will be disappointed. I guess the garlands will be up across Main Street and any other decorations, but no tree.

I think that stinks!

I'm gathering that all the OTHER decorations will be up but not the tree. So no tree for our MVMCP!! This is really quite a bummer. Just put the tree up!! They are all about the "magic", let them magically move the tree!!
Of course I too think Regis and Kelly should be nixed from the parade. They need hosts who are more genuine!!

That stinks. This is our 1st time at WDW for the holidays. Why can't they move Regis & Kelly and leave the tree alone??? :confused3

I agree on all points.

I just posted a similar thread, did not know this one was up already. UGH, search. :confused3

We called to lodge a complaint about not having the tree for our MVMCP and the CM was suprised to hear the news. She also agreed that it would be a big disappointment for us. So maybe the rumor isn't true. We asked her to put it down as a possible complaint! :confused3 :rotfl:

Help, I am a little confused... we are going to Disney for the very first time, and plan to go to Magic Kingdon on Monday, December 4th.... Does this mean that we will miss the Christmas tree?

Well, since I leave on December 3rd (Sunday), I guess the tree won't be there. This kinda stinks. :furious: :sad2: I was looking forward to taking some really great pictures of the tree and the tree & Main Street USA.

I have pictures from 2003 that I took of Wishes from the 2nd floor of the train station. I stood a little to the side and had a great view of the castle & Wishes, with the tree in the picture too. It made for some really pretty pictures.

In 2002, they had the stage for Regis & Kelly over near the entrance to Tomorrowland. The tree was on Main Street near the train station. :confused3

In 2003, their stage was over by Casey's. The tree was on Main Street near the train station. :confused3

IMHO, I don't care where they plunk the 2 of them, as long as it's out of the way.
:sad2:
