MK changed their hours until 12am

I'd play it by ear but not make any plans you can't get out of easily for the next day. My kids are still quite young and there's no way they could handle it. But, I would have thought it really cool to stay up that late as a young teen. I would have been able to handle it and sleep in the next day. My young kids can't sleep in, so there's no way we would even make EMH that end at 11pm. You know your kids best to know how they'll do on less sleep. If they all want to do it, then I'd go for it.

We've done 3am EMH at MK and walked on EVERYTHING and were often allowed to just stay on and repeat if we wanted to. The park is empty after about 1am. So worth it to us, we sleep in anyway. We have a picture walking out of the park towards the train station with no one in it. Can't be that in the am ever :lovestruc

We will be there that night and plan on shutting the park down too!! :cool1: (But here's hoping for warmer weather than last year at that time! :wizard: It was in the 40's at night).

We will sleep in that AM and not go to another park during the day. We plan on getting there around 6pm and hunkering down for the night. The next day will be another sleep in kind of day, and then hit a park for half the day.

Can't wait!!!

This topic just convinced me to make a one night reservation on 11/12 so that I can go to the EMH at MK that night...when they are also until 3am!

As a local AP holder I rarely get to experience those resort guests perks, so what the heck...I can stay up that late!! Looking forward to it!

Anyone know how crowded the resort buses are that late? It's nice to be able to just walk to the bus at MK, but if the lines are crazy I could just drive to MK.

I have never experienced crowded buses leaving MK that late. Can't say how it will be from your resort to MK- depends on when you are going.

OK, so I think we'll do it!!!

Maybe after our ADR at GF, we'll head back to PO-FQ and swim, then nap. Head into MK around dinnertime, then stay for the night.

I'll post back and let everyone know how it went. :)

Thanks...guess I will just play it by ear. Also noticed I will be able to take advantage of evening EMH at DHS the next night (after sleeping in) before heading home!

:yay:

We stayed till 3 once and loved it. It was walk-ons on everything! We just slept a little later in the morning and missed a rope drop, but it was so worth it! Even my grandson who was 10 made it until Country Bears...went to the 2:55 am show and he fell asleep before the bears started singing (actually as soon as his tush hit the bench, he was out like a light!). He kinda sleepwalked to the bus after that. But he was happy we stayed too, he got to ride Space Mountain a few times plus other favorites without a line.

Thanks for posting this! Just checked the calendar for our dates in November and a lot of the hours changed including 2 MK days where it's open until 3am now! Don't know if we'll do that with our little ones, but I've got my spreadsheet all updated now :)

I have done this twice with my kids...the most recent in Feb.

Two of the kids and I went to the MK early in the AM, came back around 2 and swam, rested...I made them take a mandatory nap from 7-10.

The other child was at Daytona with Dad and had been up early...he slept 4 hours on the way home on the charter bus. I took them all back with me about 1130...they loved it.

The parks are magical that time of night...really 1am the park starts clearing out...by 130-2 its dead....it has almost ruined me for being there when it is busy.

Mine are 15-11-9....

That is our last day at WDW. We plan on spending November 5th in MK. I want to stay there until 3 am but we have to drive home Sunday so I doubt we can make it that late LOL.

I left DH in the room...we were leaving the next day...he isn't a nightowl...he is a morning person...he got a great nights sleep and we left about 430 am when we got back to the room...we all slept while he drove :-)

Our flight arrives on 11/5 at 4:30p. We planned heading straight to MK to have dinner at the Plaza and hang until 1am and now can stay until 3am-----Wowee! This sounds too good to pass up. I may have to rethink our plans on 11/6 as we have a 10am ADR at Kona and planned to go to Epcot. We'll probably be moving in super slo-mo the next day and turn in early (ie. 10p)

Against my better judgement, I changed my plans around so my kids can experience a late night EMH at MK. It's for Sat 11/5. MK was supposed to close at 10pm, then we would be there until 1am. Well, Disney just changed the hours and MK is now closing at midnight, so EMH is until 3am!

Really, tell me what to expect!! I was planning on sleeping in a bit, and then we have ADRs for 1900 at 11am. I thought that would late enough to hold us until a 1am park night. Now, I'm thinking the crowds are going to be way too insane, and then our next park day at DHS will be shot (DHS closes at 7pm).

The kids are tweens and wanted to stay up late at MK, but I don't think they know how much this is going to be a possible nightmare, not to mention that we probably won't even make it to DHS the next day.

YIKES! What would you do?

BTW, the kids are 13, 12, 11, and me.

Disclaimer. This suggestion is case specific and may or may not apply to others.

One of my emh rules. The later the emh, the more likely it is to be less crowded. However, it is also more likely that you wont want to get up for morning touring the next day. This is not a hard and fast rule and must be weighed against others in the analysis.

Not part of the rule but as an aside, an empty evening emh is nice. But it isn't guaranteed and it isn't a trip maker. Like dole whips and zebra domes, it isn't to die for, and it isn't a trip breaker if you miss it.

I'm going to assume you don't want any major switching around of things at this late date. An 11 am adr (9am wake up) all the way until 3 am is a long day. You've indicated you don't think you can all make it. And I doubt you could get up, go to 1900, and then immediately go rest some more in order to make it. Most people can make such a long day. However, continued long days in a row take their toll. Getting up on 3-4 hours sleep and going to DHS is not optimal. You also didn't indicate what you were doing the day before. If it's a long day too, you're really burning the candle at both ends.

My suggestion really boils down to what kind of flexibility you have. If it were me and I had no hoppers and no flexibility on the next day to take it lightly, I'd forget that evening emh, get to MK 30 minutes prior to rope drop, get some touring in from opening until I had to leave for that late breakfast, then head back to MK, and then just head out when I thought I needed to to get a decent night's sleep and get to DHS at rope drop. If, however, you have the flexibility to take the next day lightly, get to DHS late or move it to another day, then I probably would take a shot at that emh.

Thanks for posting, OP!

I checked and the hours for the time we're there changed, too.

Here's my question: The closing time changed from 8:00 to 10:00 on 11/28. Right now, MSEP is still listed as 7:00 and Wishes at 8:00. They'll change those times, won't they? Wishes is always at park-closing isn't it?

We arrive about 10:30am on Nov. 5 and was expecting EMH until 1am, so this is great news! Already has planned to nap late afternoon before a late (8pm) ressie at Kouzzina, so we should be good to go! :cool1:
First experienced MK until 3am July 2010, when we rode Buzz repeatedly 4 times in a row - nothing like it!

I wish they'd do this for MK's EMH on 10/24. Being at MK at 2 or 3am is awesome. I love ride Splash in the dark, and all rides are walk on.

1- They'll change those times, won't they?

2- Wishes is always at park-closing isn't it?

1- They might, but not necessarily.

2- No. Wishes is not always a "park closer" at MK.
IllumiNations does close the park at Epcot, but Fantasmic! at DHS and Wishes at MK do not necessarily run at "park closing time," even thought they sometimes do.

Do it, do it, do it!! HOWEVER... I'd try to get a MUCH later ADR at 1900, or try for one at CP or Kona Cafe for an early supper and spend the day relaxing. We did the 3am close in August 2010. Hotter than the hinges of Hades in the day, we slept in that morning and had a casual day; we rode Disney transport! We took the bus to Epcot, then the monorail to MK, then the boat to WL and back, and the bus from MK back to POP. We spent the majority of the time sitting down in A/C but still having fun. When we got back to POP we took a dip in the pool and a brief lay-down, and were ready to go. We had early dinner at Kona (5pm) then went to MK and were in the park by 7. DD and I were the only ones on the path from Haunted Mansion to Splash Mountain at 2am! We spent 8 hours in the MK in August, but the heat was manageable and the crowds all but disappeared as the evening wore on, especially after the parade and Wishes. IT WAS DELUXE!!!!

Robo, Those were not the answers I wanted! :rotfl2:

I probably won't be able to make Wishes at 10:00 anyway, but just dreaming! :cloud9:
