Against my better judgement, I changed my plans around so my kids can experience a late night EMH at MK. It's for Sat 11/5. MK was supposed to close at 10pm, then we would be there until 1am. Well, Disney just changed the hours and MK is now closing at midnight, so EMH is until 3am!

Really, tell me what to expect!! I was planning on sleeping in a bit, and then we have ADRs for 1900 at 11am. I thought that would late enough to hold us until a 1am park night. Now, I'm thinking the crowds are going to be way too insane, and then our next park day at DHS will be shot (DHS closes at 7pm).

The kids are tweens and wanted to stay up late at MK, but I don't think they know how much this is going to be a possible nightmare, not to mention that we probably won't even make it to DHS the next day.

YIKES! What would you do?

BTW, the kids are 13, 12, 11, and me.

Actually, pretty common at MK.

These are the "BEST" kind of PM EMH for riding attractions, due to their extra-late hours.
(The later the closing time, the fewer the guests will remain in the park.)

And, as you can see, YOU are doubting being able to attend (or at least stay to the end.)
That's why these very late EMH's offer so much better opportunities to ride otherwise busy attractions.

It's up to you to make the best decision for your family.

At any rate... HAVE FUN!!

No way in the world I would stay up that late....maybe stay till 1:00 or so, but 3:00 a.m.?

Honestly, there is nothing like walking out of MK at 2 or 3am, when the park is almost empty. :)

I can't really describe it.

How late do the kids want to stay? If they want to stay later, rearrange plans for the next day and don't plan on doing anything until after lunch. :)

I know when we go, my kids love it, because Mom is letting them stay up wayyyyy later than their normal bedtimes. :lmao:

MK is closing at 2am the last full day of our trip, and I fully intend to close out the park. We have breakfast ressies at Akershus at 9:45 the next morning, but I don't care - we're flying home in the afternoon so we can all crash on the plane and take a nap. ;)

3am is my favorite time in the park. Two years ago we had a 8 am flight so we had to get up at 4 am Of course that night was a 3 am EMH. DH and I were up for over 24 hours straight. We were beat but it was awesome. And we still managed to make it to the parks before noon the next day somehow!
With kids that age, I dont see a problem with them staying up. You on the other hand might have an issue! ;)

I'm thinking that there might be a better way to word that last sentence.

I'm just sayin'

I'll do better than "what WOULD" I do. I'll tell you what I DID do:

We took afternoon 'rest time' and kept our DS9 and DD7 at the park until 2:00 am on day. They loved it, the rides were walk-on, and it was a significant event thet they still talk about when talk about planning next years trip.

The next day was sleep-in a little bit, and right back at it.

Unless you expect a melt-down, I'd do it!

One year, my family and I WILL do the 3 am emh! mark my words! :goodvibes
On Oct 3rd, Monday, we closed the park at 1am, my boys did great!
Although, I do have a pic of ds8 who fell asleep on It's a Small World :)

I've done it before at age 18 (23 now), and it was the most fun I have ever had in my life to this day! We loved stumbling into our hotel room at 4:30, only to wake up 3 hours later and do it all again! We rode everything, over and over again, and just had an absolute blast experiencing so much of it, so late at night. As it gets later it gets much emptier of course, which only made it more fun for us! If you think they can hang, why not?! It really is a fantastic experience. There's nothing like being some of the last people to stroll down Main St with the park seemingly all to yourself! Ah, I'm getting misty-eyed just remembering!

It's also daylight savings that night (morning LOL). Extra hour to sleep BTW......:goodvibes

We always have park hoppers or an AP, so on evening EMH when it's open until 2 or 3, we plan to get there around 8:30 - 9:00 pm.

At that time, they direct you behind Main Street, past Tony's. You come out between the Plaza and the rest rooms on the way to Tomorrowland. We do all of Tomorrowland during the first MSEP, go through Liberty Square during Wishes and end up at Frontierland for the 11:00 parade. Then hang for as long as we can. Pirates, BTM, Haunted Mansion, until we get too tired.

Walking out of an empty park, with the beautiful colors of the castle, and a late night snack at the Main Street Bakery - lots of fun and plenty of great family memories.

Actually the time change is at 2:00 am local time -- so in the fall it goes from 1:59 am to 1:00 am. With a 3:00 am closing, that's an extra hour of EMH!

"Closing" MK on a late EMH night is the BEST!!!:thumbsup2 We have done it everytime we have had the opportunity. Honestly we have never experience insane crowds on EMH nights. We were at MK for EMH on 10/9 and after Wishes the crowd thinned out, though there was some rain too. If your kids are like my DS12 they will do fine. As far as getting them up the next day.... good luck with that.;)

I've done 3 AM EMH a few times. But I never go to rope drop so I am not worried about having to get up early. If you do it you may need to scrap any rope drop plans you may have had for the next day.

My oldest three kids are 13, 11, and 10 and OH YES they can hang for super late EMH. We've been doing late nights at MK since my son was 5! Go for it and take it easy the next day!

We stayed out till 2:30AM last year when we were there, DD8, DS10. The kids LOVED that they could stay up so late and are still talking about...remember when we stayed up all night.... The crowds were gone by 11-11:30 and we did everything we wanted with the park almost empty. It was great to experience at night with so few people in the park. I say go for the late night and just take the next day lightly. DD and I are leaving to go back tomorrow for special dad/princess time and are planning a late Sat. night. Have a great time!
