MK bus on Grad nite/bus available?

Hi all , knowledge needed here....We plan to spend Sat 4/28 at MK for the day, and have a 5:30pm ADR at WCC at WL. One option is to stay all day at MK and hop boat or bus to WL for dinner.... but if we decided to return to POP for a rest before dinner.....I know that we can take bus to MK and then get over to WL, but will we be able to get the bus BACK to MK, after dinner, in order to get back to POP? MK closes early due to a Grad Nite...so not sure how to get home to POP after dinner at WCC that night if we can't get a bus back to MK because of Grad Nite. (Taxi is really not an option, as we would need two due to 2 adults and 4 kids, car seat for baby?) Am I safe to assume that the MK bus will run its usual schedule, just that people won't be able to get into MK due to Grad Nite? I will double check with CM's after we arrive as well. Thanks for any input

I think you are right that MK will run its "usual schedule" but I believe that schedule is one hour after park closing. So, with MK closing at 7, the busses will probably run until 8.
A better option would be to take the WL bus to Epcot (closes at 9) or the Studios (closes at 8:30) and then transfer to a POP bus.

Whenever there is a special event such as Grad Nights, MNSSHP or the MVMCP the buses run just as if the parks were open late for everyone.
Once you leave the WL you will be able to take the bus or the boat back to the MK and then from there walk over to the bus stop for the bus back to the POP.

Check with a CM about the MK bus though. You might get lucky.


Old story: We went to the late show at Hoopdedoo our first WDW trip. We were staying at the YC. We took the boat from the MK to Ft Wilderness. However, after the show we had no idea how to get back. There was no Bus that stopped there for the YC/BC and no CM's around to help. And it was one of those early closing nights for the MK. We had quite an adventure getting back including vaulting the gates at the monorail station. Now I make sure I know how i can get back from whereever I am.

As I indicated earlier, there will be buses because of the Grad Night event. When we go in December, I have purposely scheduled our Hoopdedoo night for a night when MVMCP is running so that we can get back to the MK with no problem.
In reply to your problem getting back from the HDDR we have never had that problem. We've gone to the the middle show and the later show and each time, if the MK had closed early there were buses waiting outside the Hall. There was not one bus for each resort, but one bus would go to several resorts. There were CM's there directing us to the buses and then telling us which bus we needed.

I'm not so sure the Disney buses will be because of Grad Night. I mean, yes, there will be buses until about an hour after park closing, or whenever the last Guests leave Magic Kingdom - but afaik, Grad Night attendees can enter the park for Grad Night ONLY if they arrive on the specially designated/hired for that purpose buses provided by their respective schools for the event. I don't think they're allowed to use ANY other type of transportation; nobody not attending Grad Night can use the Grad Night transportation; and, once the teens are in the park, they can't leave until the park closes.

Downtown Disney is an even better idea, perhaps we will just catch a bus there and walk around a bit if everyone is up for it. We'll find our way back somehow! Thanks all!

Sometimes though School Groups make arangments with Disney to provide Buses to the Grad Night if staying at a Disney resort (usually a Pickup and Drop off but not a normal route). You should check with your person in charge of your School for Grad night for more Information.

Thank you!...but we are not trying to get to Grad night (we're a family with 4 little boys! )...just trying to make sure we can get back to our home resort (Pop Century) after dinner at Wilderness Lodge on a night that happens to be Grad Night at MK. (We hope to take the usual bus route from WL to MK then back to Pop Century). Cranbiz has offered to check this weekend with his supervisor for an answer hopefully.

When asking about bus routes, always ask a bus driver, don't rely on front desk or rest. CM to know. I heard a WL CM tell a guest that there is no bus from WL to FW, yes there is I was on it 3/22/07. Always trust the folks in purple pants when it comes to bus routes.

OK,

The answer that I got is that the MK buses will run until the park is clear of day guests. That is normally up to 1 hour (could be a little longer) than the posted close time. Disney does not provide general transportation for Grad Night. As indicated by ZTBZ, a group may contract a Disney bus for drop off and pickup, but it will not be for general guest use.

It looks like your best bet may be the WL to Epcot then Epcot to POP if you are done before 9pm and WL to DTD then DTD to POP if after 9pm.

We will try one of these options (Downtown Disney or Epcot to POP)... rather than trying to go back the way we came (from the MK). And we'll be sure to always ask the wearers of the purple pants for accurate info!
