MK at Rope Drop?

Staying off-site and driving. Last time we did the MK they held everyone at the TTC until around 8:45 before you could board the monorail. Makes it almost impossible to make the rope drop.

Anyone know if they still do this and if so are there any alternatives? I wonder if we take the monorail from EPCOT if we'd still have to wait?

I could be wrong about this - but I bet you went on an early entry day - if you go then - you have to show a resort ID to ride over to the MK - I didn't have that problem on any other days - maybe someone else can confirm

since they have an opening of the MK at 8:48 - I can't imagine they wouldn't let you over for that!

You could make a ps at CP or CRT on a non EMH morning. Use the MK parking lot and then board the tram. You'll need to use the entrance all the way to the left. There's usually a sign telling you where to check in for breakfast.

I found the same situation as the OP on our 2002 trip- and it wasn't a Early Entry morning. I've never encountered it since then. When was your last trip??

I believe that they hold both the Express Monorail and the MK Ferryboat until 15-20 minutes before opening. Another minor perk for on-siters - if they take Disney transportation.

My friends said that is what happened to them last summer. No way over to the mk till about 20 mins. before opening.

I wonder how they handle these scenarios:

People coming in on the monorail from EPCOT looking to transfer?

People who want to meet another party at one of the resorts for breakfast?

very simple. have the PS number with you and you can board the resort monorail. we had offsite friends join us for breakfast at Crystal Palace before MK opening and this is how we did it.
