MK Arrival Question

We’re staying at the Contemporary. A friend told me that if you get on the monorail there you go through security at the resort, not the park. Is this true? We plan to arrive for rope drop on a 9am opening day (so want to arrive before 8am I suppose). Would it be better/faster to take the monorail to MK or to walk there from Contempo?

Either way, you will not be going through the main Magic Kingdom security. If you take the monorail, security is stationed before the elevators/escalators to the platform. If you walk, security is stationed on the pathway just after crossing the street to MK (by the entrance to the bus loop).

Personally, I would walk. Between park open and breakfast reservations at Chef Mickey's, the monorail is usually crowded in the morning. Plus, from the Contemporary it will make stops at the TTC, Poly, and GF before arriving at MK.

Yes, walk... Quick and easy security check along the pathway and no waiting for the monorail to arrive.

You definitely DON'T want to take the monorail. The best part about the Contemporary is the walking path.
