MK April 17th - worth switching itinerary for early closure?

We will be at Disney 4/13-4/19, 4 Park days total, with 2 of those at MK (4/14 and 4/16). Both of those dates are showing pretty high crowd levels (8, 7). Just realized that MK closes at 6pm on April 17th. Reading through several other posts, it seems that early closure days have lower crowds, although I don't necessarily see that reflected in touring plans, crowd calendars etc. for that date.

My question is, since we only planned to stay at the park until 6pm on our 2nd MK day anyway (we're keeping our 5 and 7yr old up late for the fireworks our first MK day, but trying to stick to normal bedtimes rest of the week), is it worth switching around our whole schedule to do our 2nd MK day on 4/17 instead? Will the crowds be that much lower?

Am a bit worried about the crowd levels being high both of our MK days (and the first MK day is not flexible) but we would need to switch around ADRs for later in the week (including an Akershus) to make this work and i'm wondering if it will really make that much of a difference. My husband, of course, thinks i'm crazy to keep changing plans!!

This past November 30 Magic Kingdom closed early for a cast member party. We decided to do that park on that day anticipating low crowds and we were right, the crowds were the lowest in all of our 4 days at MK. And then in the evening we hopped to Epcot.Just be sure to get there at rope drop to take the most advantage

I think when there is early closer those people who only have the base tickets will choose to go to another park to get a full day or break it up to morning and afternoon break then back to the park in the evening -- thus i think an early closure would deter many people. If you have hoppers then hit MK and then go elsewhere for the evening, I think you will luck out and hit lower crowds than what is being predicted.

I actually just snagged a PPO BOG reservation for that day, so would definitely be there for rope drop!

We don’t have park hoppers, but our goal was to have our kids out of the park by 6pm that day anyway. Their normal bedtime is 7pm so can’t do many late nights at the parks!

Sounds like I should start trying to shift our HS/Epcot ADRs around so that we can do MK on the 17th...

I’ll be in MK that day!
At first I was upset about the early closure because I wanted to end our trip with HEA. But now I’m excited about the low crowds.
