MK after dinner at 'ohana?

Hi!
I need some advice!
We have a dinner reservation at 'ohana at 8pm on aug. 4th, mk closes at 11 that night so would it be possible (or sane) to head over to mk to watch wishes? we will have park hoppers so that shouldnt be an issue.

How long does it take to get to MK from poly? I'm just afraid that the crowds would be too heavy to make it there and that they woulndt let us into the park at that late hour. I have also heard of people getting window seats at 'ohana (i think) where they were able to see fireworks in the distance..i'm not sure if it was this or an epcot restaurant. but i cant imagine staying there eating for 2-3 hours!

I'm not sure that I'd try to haul it back to the MK, as it might be tricky to get a great viewing spot (I like to claim my viewing real estate EARLY!) A few weeks ago, my BF and I had dinner at Ohana and walked to the Poly dock to watch Wishes. They pipe the music through a speaker (not actually on the dock but up the ramp from it, it's a big box on the side of the walkway) it's not the same as seeing it in the park, but a good alternative if you end up crunched for time!

It only takes a few minutes to get from the Poly to the MK. The monorail stops at Poly, then GF, then MK. However, if you feel you'd be too rushed to enjoy your dinner, don't do it. (There are lots of reports of 30 minute waits for a table [even wth ADR] at Ohana.)

You'd have to do some research to find good "alternative" spots to watch Wishes, because the obvious spots will be taken (and PLEASE don't crowd in front of folks who had staked out their spot for 2 hours.)

The one thing I don't know is how late they let you into the park. If you show up at 10:30 when the park closes at 11, are the turnstiles still open?

We've done this several times. It's easy to get to MK to view the fireworks...not so easy to leave. If the park is really packed, CM's often open up the area behind Main St., so you can avoid the crowds and quickly walk to the end of the street. As far as viewing spots go, we had no trouble even over Memorial Weekend finding a place at the last minute near Stitch.
