Before I invest in these shoes, I am curious to see if any of you have worn these and if you think they are worth the $$. I am looking for a great running shoe b/c I'm starting a 5K training program and my current Nike shoes are killing my feet. Any feedback will be appreciated.

My ex-FIL is a serious runner, and that is what he wears. HOWEVER, you should go to a local running store, not one of the mall chains. I had shoe issues similar to yours and hated treadmill/running work. But after going to the local store, they had me try on like 10 different pair of shoes, made me run in them in front of a couple of the guys, then diagonosed what my running issue was. I found the best pair of running shoes thanks to them, it is the best $90 bucks I spend every 5 months.

Good luck!

I love Mizunos! I raced in them when I ran Cross Country in high school, which was a long time ago. But like PP said, you should go try on shoes. What one runner likes, another does not. I have some Nike Shox that I have been running in, but I don't like them, because I feel they're too heavy. I like a lighter running shoe. Good luck!

Mizuno sneakers are what I have worn for the past nine years-9 marathons, 5 or 6 half marathons and more training miles than I care to count.

Mizunos are the only running shoes I've found that work for me. Like previous posters mentioned though, it's best to get to a running store and have them fit you. Different shoes work for different people and some can do more harm then good. Good luck with your 5k program!

Ditto to this. :thumbsup2

I know some people that swear by Asics. .. I really think it's a personal foot issue. I don't run. . .but I walk fast. . lol! I would never go without my New Balance for walking. . .and Converse for weight lifting. Go find out what is the best shoe for you and your gait.

Another vote here for the visit to a running store. My son was a high school cross country runner and now a college cross country runner. Back in high school he was having foot issues. He was wearing shoes that we purchased at a chain running store and it turns out it was the wrong shoe for his foot. He got fitted with another type of shoe (a Nike) and has been doing great ever since. (knock on wood that this continues!:): If you don't have a local store, try roadrunnersports.com, they have fitting suggestions for your type of foot.

I went to a local shoe store and got fitted with Mizunos a year ago. The owner ( a runner) said I needed this shoe because my arches are low. So I wore those and did great. I ran a few 1/2 marathons in them. Then I needed a new pair. So I ordered the exact same shoe. And have had problems ever since. Every time I would run more than a mile or so the bottom of my feet would burn. It was really strange. I just got a different pair. I decided to go with Asics gel 2140's. I've only worn them twice so far. Just got them this week. But they are really cushy inside. So far they've been great. I've been able to do 6 miles without really even noticing.

Good luck. It is a big investment and for me a little scary. good luck with your training too!

I just got a pair last week. I am not a runner but I "over-pronate" when I walk so i needed a sneaker with a lot of support. I went to a local running store and this was the sneaker that was recommended to me and felt the best. So far worth the $$$.

Another vote for going to a running store. Stay away for the mall type. Running stores are trained by the shoe companies and can find you the right shoe for you foot type.
