DD5 is on zyrtec for allergies. We have colds as well....can I give her cold medicine on top of that?

We have triaminic, simply stuffy, or ibuprofen cold to choose from.

Thanks.

Well, I don't know the "right" answer, but I know that I've done it before. My son is on regular Zyrtec. When he got a cold, I gave him Sudafed. He's still alive!

To be safest, you should call your doctor of pharmacy.

But if you want my unprofessional opinion, look at the bottle of each medicine. It will say what medications are in it and what they are (pain reliever, cough suppressant, etc.). You can give her anything without an antihistimine in it. Obviously, you should also read the warnings about drug interactions.

They should do the same thing with the nose stuffiness. Is she on Zyrtec D?

You may want to talk to a pharmcist for maybe a cough medicine. i don't think you want to overlap the meds.

Are you sure its not her allergies, DD3 and I both have been hit hard the past few days.

Just gave her pseudophedrine (simply stuffy). No antihistamine in there.

Allergies are kitty cats and mold. We have 5 cats. Truthfully meds aren't working anyway....may be time to downsize.

Thanks for the info.

I have seasonal allergies and I know I have to take regular allergy meds for about a week to see improvement. For immediate effect a decongestant needs to be in the mix.

And its odd some allergy pills will work for one person and not the other.

And allergies are miserable

She's been on the meds for about 3 weeks. I saw improvement in the first day or two...but ever since, no different than before :(.

Three weeks is more then enough time for something to work. poor girl. I hope something works out.

There is new stuff coming, but it is a couple of years away.

Totally different then what it out there. One shot and thats it..it would be amazing if it actually gets approved.

I also take Zyrtec....every single day...all year long. There is always something either blooming or mildewing in Atlanta.

Doctor has told me to take Sudafed for the really bad symptoms....and different types of cough syrup.

But checking with Dr or Pharmacist would probably be the best idea...as she is a child...I am an adult and maybe the reaction in adults and children is different.

Simply Stuffy(pseudophedrine) is the D in alot of allergy meds. So she be be ok. I give DS Nasolnex & SS. Simply Stuffly is the only thing DD will take & it is very hard to find around here.
